    Smashedz28's build log

I had a h.o. alt from motorcityreman for a number of years that did that. Low volts at idle and would be 14+ about 1k rpms. It was suggested to put a smaller pulley on the alt, which I did, but this did not solve the entire problem. I believe mine had to do with the way the h.o. alt was rewound. I can't remember how much exactly I paid, but near your price point. It's my understanding that these type h.o. alts may indeed produce higher amperage but not until it has significantly spun up enough. Same reason why you are seeing low voltage at idle perhaps. I think my next h.o. alt will be from a higher price point where it seems h.o. alts are rewound differently and provide constant voltage, even at lower rpm, and higher amperages throughout the non-highway driving rpm range.

    Addiction sucks.

What kinds of things helped you off the stuff? Lets give this guy some concrete goals or tasks he can achieve to move past his problem.

    Addiction sucks.

Your prob going to need a bit more than on off topic thread if your serious about moving on. Find a new addiction. Get addicted to kicking a rock. Get outside. Go walk, go run, go do something. Replace your easy mundane lifestyle of using and replace it with something else. Go kick a rock every time you want to use. Find a big rock so it hurts ur toes when you kick it. Give yourself something to think about and stimulate your body in a different way. Good luck though.

    2 chambers, separate tuning

Thanks for adding some clarification. I understood that this idea was not popular, but I was not completely satisfied with why not. I appreciate you all helping me understand more in depth.

    2 chambers, separate tuning

Thank you Alton for explaining. This was one of the considerations I began to think of, but would the 'canceled' freqs need to be completely out of phase for the cancellation to occur? I guess there could exist varying degrees of cancellation until which point the note would completely canceled itself out. I had just imagined that if indeed the freq needed to be 180 out of phase that the chances of that exact event where not very likely within a small space. I don't think that is what I completely had in mind. But, does that design have a specific name I can go try to read about? It is interesting. Yes, thats what I was thinking of.

    2 chambers, separate tuning

Theres not really anything i am trying to accomplish, especially with this idea. The thought just came to mind so I decided to see if anyone had tried it or could shed some insight on the design.

Thank you for such a well explained contribution. Could you please elaborate a little further on your suggestion?
