It's taken WAY too long to get this done. Bought the sub for her Christmas of '09, bought the box from Argent Audio this Christmas and was just finally able to get it painted and installed this weekend. Recognized laboratory tests were expensive and unrealistic for the thousands of individuals needing performance information. Standard measurement criteria were required to enable manufacturers to publish consistent data for customers to make comparisons between various loudspeakers.

I subscribe to Discover magazine (great read for you sciency types) and recently they ran a small article which, I think, explains part of the reason we do what we do. The first two paragraphs of the article give a brief description of how our brain responds to music.
