  1. Hi there

    i am little bit confused

where i live the mille cost 2 times more then the clarus

but what is better speakers you think?

have not heard the mille, but the clarus line is solid..here is some information about the clarus 5.25 set. the 6.5 probably can drop lower and take a tad more power, but enjoy the read :)

  2. I've been looking at some DLS Nobelliums. And the consensus seems that the Hybrids are a little brighter. Any listening fatigue? Are you using an active setup? How much power are you sending to them?

I'm very sensitive to a bright tweeter. I prefer something smoother like a dynaudio tweet.

One of my favorite cars that I've heard uses Nobeliums...I don't think there's too much of a drawback for either when it comes to the tweets. When it comes to the midbass, I'd rather have the L6's or L8's ;) I haven't heard the Leg. Pros yet, that could likely change my opinions towards the Hybrid.

And I've heard enough JMLabs stuff to know what a bright tweeter sounds like :P

if you want to hear a "bright" tweeter, you should hear the audiopipe super tweets. I know a guy that had a total of 8 super tweets..that's right, 8 super tweets as his front stage. that chit sounds like crap.

as for midbass, i highly recommend the clarus line.they are outstanding drivers and once you get those tuned in, it's all good from that point ;)

yes, I have an active setup. I have (3) Arc Audio 300.4 amps and each amp controls tweets, midrange and midbass. tweets are getting around 100watts,midrange is 150 and midbass is 150 watts. keep in mind that i'm a sound quality competitor, so i don't like to shake the ground lol

  4. Duh...I didn't see that link on Hybrid's webpage. Looks like the tweet and 7" will fit.

My only complaint about the OZ Audio CS180s I have is that they are so inefficient. Otherwise, they sound awesome. Hopefully, the Legatia Pro series can improve upon that because I would like a little more volume at times. Unfortunately, I don't have room to put another monster amp for the midrange. So I'm pretty much stuck with the Sundown 100.4.

The Legatia series looks to be built well. The L1 pro tweet is beautiful, can't wait to see what the Pro6 mid will look like.

I'm thinking about taking a roll of the dice and getting these without taking a listen. I've been pleasantly surprised before!

I purchased my hybrid front stage without hearing any of the speakers. my friend has the l1 tweet,l3 midrange and the l6 midbass. I liked the sound of his system, so i decided to go with hybrid. I use the l1 pro tweets,l4 midrange and the clarus 5.25 for midbass. that was the best investment that i have made for a front stage. in my previous install, i used morel piccalo tweets, scanspeak 12m midrange and dynaudio 7"midbass and I have to say that the hybrid products sound better. good luck with the install and keep us posted on your progress :)

  5. I've been an OZ Audio for the past 13 years. Unfortunately, they are no longer making speakers. I've been looking for a new company to go with as far as speakers and have been hearing a lot of good things about Hybrid.

I can't seem to find any specs on the Legatia Pro series? Specifically the 6.5" comp set (or 7.1?). My speaker locations have a very limited outer diameter and mounting depth.

    Thanks

    bigjae,

The L6 pro is not available at this time. check out the product page for more info regarding the L1 pro tweet http://www.hybrid-audio.com/products.htm

If you can't wait for the release of the pros, go with the legatia speakers that are available right now. also, check out the Clarus line as well. I use the clarus 5.25 speakers as midbass, and so far, most people think that i'm using larger speakers :)

  6. Thank you James.

Checked the manual on the 5,25. Seems like the depth is good. However I am still wondering about the RMS/highpass thing.

    Having:

    Horns @ 107dB 1w/1m

    The Clarus @ 89dB 1w/1m

I want to make use of the most out of that 5,25. Even if it means highpassing it @ 160hz/18dB

Second thing is while talking to people on the web, the pretty much all think that it is not a good idea.

They are saying that because the natural function of the car does not occur in that situation, there will be almost no lows. Can someone clarify this please?

    Thanks guyz,

    Kelvin

i would try different crossover points until i had the "desired" sound. i purchased the 5.25 clarus set without hearing them first, and i have them tuned in now and they sound awesome. by the way, 250 watts rms is too much for these speakers. do you have access to a processor? if so, adjust the x-over points and see what happens. keep us posted on your progress :)

  7. by hit the fan i mean there' a reason teamssa is basically no more. the chit that happened with dave involved ramos and webster to a degree as well

That is incorrect. Teamssaudio consists of more then 3 people.

who are the other people? never seen or heard of them. just looked at the team section on ssa, and it states "coming sooon"

Team SSA (Dave,Ramos and I) made people at the shows recognize ssa as a true force to be reckoned with in sound quality. don't believe me, ask tom shaw(former world champ),randy eddy(won elite top 30, but lost to dave in meca) if they know who team ssa is and i guarantee you that dave, ramos and i will be mentioned and the list goes on of competitors that are impressed with our cars and sportsmanship.

Dave, ramos and I will be at Meca World finals. Any of you guys from ssa or "team ssa" are welcome to come by and get a demo.

Webster, that is awesome that you guys have done well in MECA SQ. The thing is that we had not heard one single person come to the website, shop, or Icon support page and say they saw the Icon at a MECA SQ show. And in reality, very few people have heard of Tom Shaw or Randy Eddy, even though they are very good at what they do and have accomplished a great deal. So when mentioned in small world of MECA SQ, yeah you guys are going to come up and people will know those guys, but in the big picture, it is quite the opposite. I know that you guys gave out a ton of stickers and brochures to people that came and heard the cars, and that is very cool. But the effects of that were not seen on our end. So the relative perspective has to be considered, especially when we are solely internet based and run.

Increased sales could have happened if someone came to the shows. at every 3x event i have attended, you have speakers, amps, cables etc and they have a sales manager there to setup deals. most manufacturers make that type of move because it's a great way to let the public hear a demo car and try to get shops to make an investment at the show. as for tom and eddy, local car show guys would not know about them, but the people that compete on a national level would know them. what big picture are you talking about? if you are speaking about the car audio industry, i'm sure that most companies know or heard of us. as i said before, representatives from the car audio manufactures are at the shows, and are always going around meeting and getting demos. that's how you network and make money

Next, there are other associations and competitions outside of MECA SQ. We had a number of people compete early on in the season(s), (a few blazers one of whom is still active today, Aerostar van who is also still active, 2 door Tahoe, and a few others in the area of Phoenix some doing car shows too, but most important and notable of all, is the other owner of SSA, Mark did a number of shows and competitions. Mark had to stop doing competitions because we could not afford the constant expense of them. People have no idea how many hours he and I put in every week, and still make $0 from our efforts.

of course their are other orgs. fortunately, most of the top competitors in iasca compete in meca as well. if you think that meca is a local hero organization, you are very wrong.

So once again, we are grateful for the exposure and time you guys put in, but we are such a small company and in no way can we keep up with larger more established companies when it comes to funding/sponsoring, and we went above what most companies do anyway, that is a cold hard fact. But I am done talking about this since the "team" was "disbanded" anyway. We have to focus our money and energy on things that will keep the line going and at some point put money in our pockets. End of story.

good luck with the company. i just wished that things could have been handled in a different way.

  8. contact scott buwalda at sales@hybrid-audio.com I'm not for sure if he will sell the mids seperately, but it's worth asking him. I use the clarus 5.25 speakers as midbass, and they sound good. so far, everyone has told me that they are very impressed with the strong midbass coming from such a small speaker. :)

by the way, i have my midbass crossed at 56-250hz

I know that Scott has decided while listening intensively the HP on the crossover. Do you please know the HP on the passives?

    Thank you,

    Kelvin

hp on the passive x-over is 5,500 hz at 12db

  10. Hi guyz,

I'd like to know a few things:

Can the 5" midbass in the Clarus line be bought individually?

    What is the mounting depth?

I have 250rms of clean power, what crossover frequency would you recommend? 125hz @ 18dB ok? or higher?

    Here's what I am planning:

    Eclipse CD7200mkII

    Image Dynamics CD1Ev.3 horns -- DLS A2

    HAT Clarus 5" -- DLS A4 bridged

Stereo Integrity BM 12" (when released) -- DLS A2

I want to put the subwoofer underneath the driver's seat in my BMW 316ti. Believe I have enough space. Since I am not concerned about subwoofer localization (LP 80hz and less). I can LP the sub higher @ for example 200hz @ 18dB. (I know this is not subwoofer material but just wanted to know)

    Thank you,

    Kelvin

  11. well as i told you, I am a very detailed planner, I have to be completely sure through months and days of research before I purchase anything to put in my car. I don't want to be dissapointed, I'm sure you know what I mean haha. I plan on running hybrid L8/4/1pro combo, don't have them yet, but will soon. now that i think about it the 300.4 bridged would be great on the L8, i heard they like 300w a piece :D

nice front stage. i have the L1 pro tweets,L4 midrange and the clarus 5.25 midbass. i would assume with correct crossover points, the l8's may be able to take that much power, but i'm not for sure. you should post that question on the hybrid forum on this website or go to www.hybrid-audio.com and one of those guys should be able to let you know.

  12. Crap, I just realized I didn't post my results in the 2008 season debut at Elite Summer Nationals... whoops...

    Here ya go:

    IASCA:

    1'st place in SQC

    1'st place in MACS

    MECA:

    3'rd place in MODEX+

    Top 30:

    12'th

I'm totally pumped about the debut results. That 3'rd place came right behind Dave Timmerman and Matt Roberts, both are friggin' icons in that class. I couldn't have hoped for better placement against that caliber of competition for my first show as a Pro.

I'm bigtime pumped with this install. A little showy, but it sounds awesome too. As soon as I get back from New York, let the refinements begin!!! :drink40:

I'll say it again...the best sounding system i have ever heard. if any of you guys get a chance to hear this truck, jump on it :)

by the way dave, i played the rick james track in my car and your system made me feel like a bitch lol awesome truck!!

  13. no code cracking here. dave edwards and i are easy going so if we don't find you first, come on over to team ssa and say hello. i look like ice cube and dave looks like tony soprano. we promise not to shoot you(unless you beat me) lol

Webstar = Cleveland "OOOhhhhhhhhhhh Peter" ........yeah that cleveland lol

    :404::finger:

  14. thanks fellas!

I think I'm on for Elite...

The driver side door is the one I'm most worried about. It's the one that gets opened and closed the most. BUT! Don't underestimate the F-250 door hinges. That picture was taken several months ago... so far so good. Mwahahaaaa! :drink40:

cool. see ya in a couple of weeks :eek5wavey:
