Foam sub box lining affecting tuning?
ChristianMcKay replied to Outbacksound's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Oh, I'm going to go check that out now. *edit* Do you have a link to it? -
Ohh, well I say you go with 1.25 cubes before woofer displacement. I recommend going sealed a little more since it's a low power sub, but that's all up to you.

Yeah, but I thought power handling below the Fs dropped. -

Sealed boxes are good for like...30 hz and down since there's no need for a subsonic filter -
Too deep?

So you want deep bass yet you have a problem with the idea of going sealed. -
So why downgrade to the 10"?

Bridge it. Never run a sub any way except mono.

2200 rms at 2 ohm bridged..... http://www.zapco.com/prod/comp_prods/c2k90Frame.htm unless I missed something? Wow, dude. I TOTALLY spaced out on that one.. No, you didn't miss something, my brain was just sleeping.

His amp is 1000 watts @ 2 ohms though. Maybe he should get an amp that does 2000 watts at 1 or 2 ohms?
-
It's called bi-amping. As far as I know, it's fine to do. If you're planning on running two amps to a BTL, you'll have to get the dual 2 ohm version. Your amp isn't 1 ohm stable.

You can really use plexi? I picked up a piece of plexiglass once and it flexed like crazy. How thick should it be?

Sundown SAZ-1500D!

I've noticed that all of the high power subs are DVC. I was just wondering why none of them are SVC.

I live in Louisiana, I know all about hot weather. And my amps never get to hot to touch. Yeah, I'm in Mississippi, my amps will go on playing for several hours in direct sunlight and not get hot. Wow, difficult to believe. But I will check that. How can you play for hours , in the sun, and your amp never gets hot? There's a trick? Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. I don't have AC either.

Got a build issue or is your amp just a freak?
-
Yeah, I feel like I've had this conversation 4 times already.
-
Ohhh! My bad. Thanks for pointing that out Jay-cee
-
Yeah, but he's also talking about strapping them and doing it.
-
Yeah, but wouldn't it just be better to get an amp that did that kind of power at 1 or 2 ohms?
-
I think you're going to have a mounting depth issue since CVX's are 8 1/4" deep.
-
Lol, what are your dimensions for trunk space?
-
Oh. That actually makes me really happy to hear.

Nah. No money. I need a job. Once I get a job, I would though.
