  1. Draw out designs first before wasting wood even though your getting practice. Instead of using wood use cardboard to shape out how the drawing is and pick one then cut it out of wood. Just my .02

    X2

Just take time drawing it out first.

I dont know if this was asked but how many amps do you have?

why dont you like your first one?

all together i have 3 amps. im only wanting to show 2, which are for the subs. i have a general idea of how i want it to look. just having a hard time getting the wood to bend. i know how to cut the grooves in it. its just not wanting to bend.

  2. a couple people told me that, they arent the greatest built subs. one guy told me that they are way over priced. even though it doesnt really bother me

oh, i already know that the main part of a good quality setup is your box and install. the box has the required air space for the 2 10s. im bolting my box down, and im going to dynamat my truck.

  3. Mine is far from looking clean as Im nowhere near done but a clean vinyl or leather would look good too. Maybe slightly recessed also?

im completely doing away with the amp rack i pictured. its just i dont want to do a half ass amp rack, and have a nice center console box.

thats what i have so far. i was kinda happy at first, but then i thought it wouldnt look good. im going for the more clean and sleek look. i like the whole look of amp racks with some plexi over it and rounded edges, etc.

  5. im currently at a stand still with my build. i fabbed up a amp rack last night, but it just doesnt look as clean as i was wanting it. if there is anybody that can possibly show me some pictures of their amp racks, it would be greatly appreciated. im looking for more sleek clean finish. (round over edges, plexiglass over amp,,etc) just looking for ideas. forgot to mention, i have 2 soundstream tarantula 1000d going behind each seat in my reg. cab silverado

  6. fiberglassing really isnt THAT hard. the main thing you need to do, is know the steps in doing it really. you have to know how much hardener to put in the resin and so on. if you dont get the mixture right, then you can have a batch of resin that doesnt kick off. or you can have a batch that is to hot, and before you get your matt laid out, your resin is starting to get hard. it will take some time getting used to, but once you get it, it will be 2nd nature. just have patients and dont rush

  7. thats what i have. 2 mojo 10s. im using 3/4" MDF for the main portion of the box. just wanted to glass it to make it look good. i just need to finish it to see what it sounds like. oh, and on the comfort part. its just like riding with my arm on the center console. so it feels the same

  8. and i just did a quick mock up on my amp rack. im going to glass it to. just dont know how im wanting it to look like at the moment. should get more done tomorrow. i didnt really place it how i wanted, just put it in there to get a rough idea

  9. well, to be honest, i just got finished looking through some of the build logs on here. and i can honestly say that, im a little disappointed in my build. this is really my first time doing everything w/o the help of my dad. hes not really around anymore, so i decided to try and tackle this by myself. ive caught alot of crap about how the box looks w/ fiberglass. i thought it was air bubbles at first to. but i didnt let the fleece harden completely, so it started sagging when the glass was kicking off. so its 100% air void free. i even sanded some down to make sure. i have 2 memphis mojo 10s going in it. i was going to run soundstream tarantula trx1500ds for it, but i decided to go with the 1000d and wire each sub to 1ohm. ill be getting a 1000 watts to each sub. anyway, enough rambling on, heres the pictures. be easy on me now haha. first time trying myself.

box is still not completely bondo'ed.

  10. well, this is my first time on the site. i can honestly say, ive been searching for a good car audio forum and i finally found one. even though im young, ive been into car audio for a couple years now. im still trying to finish my audio install in my silverado. have 2 memphis mojo 10s, 2 tarantula trx1500ds, 2 memphis 8s for door panel subs. and a 600 soundstream capcell. all the audio will be in fiberglass enclosures. my 2 10s are in a custom fiberglass centerconsole that i built myself.
