  1. Good choice of equipment for your first setup!! Always feels good to build your own box. Keep the pictures comin'.:D

hey did you like your type r components. the sub seems to over power the type s's and im thinking about upgrading to those next. what amp did you use for them to?

do you have an amp on your now? If not would make a big difference.

no amp for the front speakers and stock 6x9's in the back. the HU puts out 50 watts to each speaker though

  6. i have a kenwood KDC-MP245 in my 1997 honda accord with no subs hooked up just my alpine sps-600 speakers in the doors and when i turn it up and the bass hits the head unit will start dimming but not the head lights. does anyone know why this is happening?

bad ground you ground the headunit common in pioneers

ok. how do i check the voltage of my car?

  7. If your lookin to spend $1000 on a 1500 watt amp, why not just sell your sub and buy one that wires down to 1 ohm. Then grab an AP15001D for $160 and put the other $800 in the bank. I'm sorry, I just can't see myself spending $1K on an amp for a L7 :suicide-santa: . Good luck with whatever you choose.

BTW, I could put a WHOLE system in my car for that 1K you plan on spending on that amp. Just sayin.

yes but the amp is intended for years and years of use. The sub is not.

I still have an 15 year old RF punch 60ix amplifier i spent $400 on back in the day. Amps are the only part of car audio that i future proof or try to. So IF i got 15 years out of a $1000 amp...compared to how much some audio enthusiasts spend within 15 years. i'm probably doing dam good. But most major brand amps within that power range can be found new for half that, so no worries.

HU's, Subs, boxes....etc, is all the stuff i like to change up every couple or so years. I'm sure you understand.

I know nothing of AudioPipe's build quality or actual rated power. But at the moment, i'm looking hard at MTX thunder Elite. Their one of the few makers so far i've seen that actually tell me the quality of individual internal parts. like isdm circuit boards...etc. Most others only say they use Mosfets and thats about all i gather from them.

i try to research heavily into any product i plan to keep for many years and not just buy whatever is cheapest or based on linear experiences of "some guy" on its own. Maybe AP would last 15 yrs, i dunno but who does?

BTW, I could put a WHOLE system in my car for that 1K you plan on spending on that amp. Just sayin.
is that for MSRP prices? or unauthorized dealers, garage sales..what?

I mean i can too and have in the past. I can also build a $2000 computer for $500 but thats all part of buying any product. some can, some can't or some just won't.

but i don't go with brands i'm not familiar with out of the blue. i've learned too many hard lessons over the years and seen others as well.

*edit: hehe, i just noticed Audiopipes marketing. how stereotypical and too much "bling, bling" for my tastes. White girls and gangsta's with products that have fake diamonds in them isnt exactly a noble statement to me, but if they last 15 years i'm game...though dunno how long they been around? but their marketing really cracked me up though

i mean, how could anyone take this AD seriously?

    02.jpg

    haha at the AD

  8. ok i will look out for that and it will probably blow but i couldn't really find a amp in that price range with a adjustable subsonic filter. alpine said this amp was made for the type r so idk we will see

  9. You better watch what you play on that and listen very close to the sub for bottoming out.

That amps SSF is set at 15hz and playing below your box tuning will smoke that sub in short order.

what does bottoming out sound like?

  10. You'd better look for a 1000 watts amp that is 1 Ohm stable.

You will want to upgrade later, for sure :) :).

500 watts at 2 Ohms for now, and 1000 at 1 ohm for the future.

    Think about it !

    ;)

i bought a alpine mrp-m500 for now and when i get a job i am for sure upgrading to a fi bl 12 and a saz-1000d

  11. Ported or sealed? If you have enough airspace to properly port the 2 SSD 12's, I'd say go for them. Even though they are an entry level sub they still have alot to offer. You're going to get more output with 2 12's and you have more coils to share the power so less heat and wear on your subs and amp. Also, you aren't maxing out your sub. I have used the AA Chaos (cousin to the SSD) and loved it. Clean low bass and plenty of output. I was actually running my Chaos 15D2 on my AP15001D daily with no problems. That's almost double power, but it's clean that's the key. Just my $.02.

    what do you mean clean?
