Hey guys. once again i'm having another problem..my head unit isn't getting any power. I went to instal my voltage meter that i got today and then the no power problem started. I finished installing the voltage meter and everything was working fine. I pulled the head unit back down to put the RCA cables back in and it seemed like the music volume started to get lower and lower. I finished everything and picked the HU back up to put it back into the dash and everything just quit working. I thought that maybe some wire just came loose so i checked everything and it all looked fine. I just cant figure out what it is. Everything is wired together just like it should be, except there is one wire that im not sure what to hook to. I dont remember or even know if it was hooked to anything before. Its orange if that helps any. any help is great, and let me know if there is anything else you need to know..thanks!

i've got a voltage meter on the way so i'll be able to see if im having bad voltage drop pretty soon. And the cavy already has a cold air on it. I honestly believe that this has everything to do with the system now. This morning i woke up and went to football practice, bumping just as loud as i was when it was overheating, and it was totally fine. When i got home from practice, i let the car sit at idle and bumped at the same volume and the temperature slowly started to rise. And tonight after work i drove around for about a half hour doing that same thing and it ran at normal temperature the whole time. Im thinking that this is just something im going to have to deal with until i find a solution for it. Icy, let me know if the alt and second battery help it out. And also, would doing the big three make any noticeable difference with this? Im planning on doing it anyway, but im just curious if it could help with this problem even the slightest. yea..thats kind of what was going through my head..so is this pretty much just something that i'll have to deal with or is there something i can do to keep the car from getting so hot?

No, the a/c wad not on. i was messing with it a little more today and i noticed that while i was driving it the temperature was fine, but when i got home i let it sit, running, and listen to some stuff and the temperature would slowly rise. I also noticed that when the bass would hit hard that the rpms would drop slightly. that makes me think that it would be more an electrical problem. am i on the right track thinking that, or am i totally wrong?

alright..well i guess i'll just have to mess with it a little more tommorow and see if it only does it with the subs turned up..if it still does it all the time would your first guess be the thermostat? or is there anything else i should look into too?thanks again.

alright..how hot does you car actually get? like hot enough to make the check gauges light come on? And does anyone else think that this is a reasonable thing to make it run so hot? or do you think its more something that could of went wrong engine wise..like a bad thermostat or something along those lines?thanks

nope..its never happened before tonight..i didnt really think that the sub would have anything to do with it, but just being that it started to happen right after we put them in kind of made it the first thing to pop into my head.

well i got my sub in today for my little mini build im doing and now i need to decide what amp i should go with to power it. the sub is a Fi SSD 12 D1 with BP cooling. I was thinking of running around 900-1000 rms to it at 2 ohms. So the question is what amp would you guys think would be good for this? The budget on this isn't much. probably around 200-225. thanks

was your brothers a zx750? im thinking i might go with that then..you think 150 is a good price for a used zx750? also is there anything else out there i could go with before i set my mind on the kicker in case it sells before i come up with the money?

i bought the sub used so i couldnt of really chose between d1 or d2. i would of went with d2 if i would of bought it new thought. i feel like i got a decent deal on the subs so its not going to bother me all that much. the guy i bought it from also has a kicker 750.1 that he was using to power it. i was thinking about picking that up, but its only 750 watts at 2ohm. thats a little below what i was looking to get, but would i really be able to tell the difference between 750 watts and 900 watts just by ear?
