  1. I kinda want a refund at this point man. It didn't even work as intended for 24hrs!
  2. Ok so I only plugged in one speaker which reduced the final impedance to 2 ohms and I get the same problems. I think its fucked.
  3. They're dual 4's paralleled to 2 ohms at the terminals on the box and paralleled again at the amp.
  4. 1 ohm. Not very hard at all though seriously. I'd understand if I was dumping on it but I'm not.
  5. I did that. Fuse is fine, nothing is burnt or loose. Imma switch it with another amp and see what happens.
  6. Sounds like some bs went down.

    Over-exaggeration

I was reading on some other audio forum and this guy wondered why his sub was bottiming out. They asked him what it was tuned to and he said somethin like "did all the calculations and about 23hz." I was like geee-bus, that bish shouldn't EVER bottom out lol

    2 SA8s or 2 SA10s?

If you're gonna go prefab go sealed. A prefab ported box is always too small, or doesn't have enough port area, or isn't tuned to what you wanted (Tl:dr The ported 1 sux get sealed)

Ah, it'll only leak when he's upside down.

    Box in trunk of car

Go to a hardware store and buy some L brackets (I think that's what they're called) its a piece of metal bent at a 90 degree angle with holes in it. You screw one end to your box and the other end into the trunk floor. Imma find a pic EDIT: Here you go.
  12. Not an audible difference. Not an audible difference. The difference is going to depend on the efficiency of the amplifiers and how strong your electrical system is. The Class D is going to be more efficient with music (meaning at much less than full power) but at or near full power the efficiency difference is probably not that great. Right on about the efficiency. IIRC Class AB amps get MORE efficient the harder they run whereas the Class D gets less efficient. At close to max levels they are actually pretty similar (With AB at it's best and D at it's worst)

    Fi vs jl

What he said, but a W6 SEALED?? Maybe if they were ported I would guess they would be louder just because of cone area but if you seal them then.... Just to answer your question, BTL's.

    SEALED enclosures subs?

I think maybe the sealed box had a peak in the mid 40's and he misses it now. I've personally had that happen, where you get used to the giant boost at some freqs and then get something else and feel like somethings missing. A differently (not necessarily "better") designed box can give you what you want. If he asked the designer for a crazy ground pounder then the designer did his job right?

IA flatlyne 15. i can smell it cookin

How the hell? Magic coils.... if he added another wired the same it would give him 2 ohm maybe his amp pushes 1000rms at 2 ohm ? OP: have you checked the subs coils with a dmm ? maybe its not a d2 or maybe its not wired correctly and you pushing more then u think to it The way he worded it it sounded like "well the 500 will be split between them so it'll be ok"

    HELP!!! Audioque HDC3 12" Box

You bought a sub that you heard did the opposite of what you want......? Like really though...you wanted a Camaro and got a Suburban? Anyway Hdc's are a "holy fuck...I can taste the bass" kind of sub. They like 36+. If you wanted to be able to drop down into the 20's you fucked up. (Cuz you bought the wrong sub)

    Help On New Speakers!

Im with you, I will always have rears in all my vehicles unless I drive a 2 seater. Its a personal preference and some arent worried about the best sound out there in the world, if he wants rears then help him finding some. Picking speakers will be hard without hearing them honestly, if you liked the RE's you had in the past then I would stick with them since you know how they sound/perform. Just my .02 A good set of speakers in the front is all you need and all you will want. The rear(passengers) will be able to hear the music just fine, a good front stage won't jog any of the sound. If you want to waste money on rear speakers get the prettiest ones. Maybe for you and a lot of others on the forum but not me, it is what it is. I have heard a properly set up Audison Voce 3-way setup up front and still wanted some rears, just my take. They sounded fantastic just not what Im after. If I wanted to win an SQ competition then maybe but some people prefer rears regardless if you say you cant hear them or you say they will mess up the sound. Im not arguing with you just letting you know my opinion versus yours. /\This! You can't say "if you want rears your front stage isn't strong enough," as if it's a fact. You can't say "go to a concert and there's no rears, so your car shouldn't have them either." Some people like to have rears. Forget their reasoning, that doesn't really matter. What matters is that he could have a stellar front stage but if you add in some decent rears he would be happier. *waits for people to explain how rears make the sounds worse and how he could put the money towards better fronts*

    System failure

The noise was most prominent at low volumes though. Was the volume low when you first heard the noise?
  21. An-i-no

    System failure

Not saying it was...but if it was clipping and it went out like that, you might of heard shit giving up (in the amp) and then finished it off. Just a thought.
  22. To the ear, yeah. To the chest, steering wheel, roof, doors, and most importantly coils....it's a lil different lol I think sometimes people forget that others like to show off more than the sound. Sure it sounds the same to the ear but there's always that smile that creeps up your face when you can point at another part of the car that dances around. To the OP, Don't put 3k to his Nightshade. You can get a 3k amp and limit it's power (by reducing the gain, by turning down the sub level on the radio, things like that.) It will be more efficient than a 1500 operating at it's limits but will likely sound just the same.

    Got a new toy today

Shit, I was talkin about the nasty rattles lol. And congrats man. I got to ride in a Firehawk once and saw a GMMG 490hp (I think) at a show. Imma own a nice Trans-Am one day. This is my second ls1 camaro and i had a modded 02 vette convert. i drove around a blown 980 whp 99 viper. this is like driving a dump truck around. We have similar tastes in cars sir. Cept I'm dreaming haha.
  24. Uhh...I have a Kenwood too and it starts to sound like balls at 29 out of 35. If he's listening to it at 31 and 35, shit is gettin real nasty. That's why he's sucking up all his alt, cuz he's clipping like crazy. Turn your gain on the amp all the way down Turn your radio volume up to 29, turn the sub control to +5 (it puts almost no pre out voltage otherwise, trust me). SLOWLY turn your gain up until you start to hear it sound like crap(By this I mean...it should always sound like clean, clear bass NO MATTER WHAT. When the sound suddenly changes (to some people, this is considered loud.) Stop turning it up. That's your limit.). If you can turn the gain all the way up and still like the sound, you're used to clipping. If you like how it sounds when it's clipping you need a better setup cuz your stuff just isn't loud enough. Oh and yes, Wood is right, your box is way too big. It's making the power handling of the subs go WAAAAY down.
