Sound Deadening on a Budget [Off Topic]

Personal attacks much? Talkin bout deadener here...
  4. OHHHH....so i can just run an RCA from the one amp to the other? thats soooo much easier that way..lol. thats what you mean right? Thanks for the clarification...lol Yes, but ONLY if it's the pre out/output/pass thru section. NOT the inputs lol.
  5. 4 channel has no pre amps? It should say "Output" or "Pass thru" or something like that. The two rca jacks u didn't use. EDIT: I'll make that more clear. Just run a short rca from the 4-channel amp's pre outs to the other amp's input and you should be good. Any decent 4 channel should have a pre amp output.

    MY HDCs

Common with drywall screws. Gotta use deck screws, you probably knew that I've seen drywall screws break, but not back out? Also, using MDF, I guess I could see the wood not holding the screw anymore. Say for example if you used the same hole more than one time, MDF doesn't like that. But Birch, drywall screws, I'm not picturing screws "backing out". Didn't see this post. Box is used so...maybe. Dunno where there were holes already.

    MY HDCs

Do you mean you over tightened and stripped the wood out and and they just didn't hold? I could see that happening. Hmm...The force of the speaker playing plus it's weight pulled the screw out? He had them facing up at first and we flipped the box around and it...sploded lol. (PS. He was scared as shit lol. He thought he blew it...funny ish.)

Look what DC Power sent me

Tinman I remember reading about what was goin on with you and not bein able to get to work, and I would've done the same thing you did. I don't understand why these guys are bein so...dickish. (Apart from the fact that they don't know the whole story of course.) To reply to your comments however...well sometimes as a company you go out on a limb and say "fuck it, just let him have it if we can keep the customer." I'm sure Jacob at Sundown has done a lil extra for free, I'm sure Aaron and Mark have done a lil extra for free, and I have no problem with Kyle and Rob doing a lil extra for free. Now of course, this doesn't mean that EVERYBODY should get a free (or discounted n whatnot) alternator, but it does mean that they are willing to take care of their customer. That's all he was asking pplz. "You got a free one? Aww dude wth?" was the extent of his comment. Seeing as how he and Edouble were both customers with bad experiences he has a right to ask that question whether he's being a douche about it or not. (Not saying that he WAS.)

Ban for excessive NEGATIVE reputation rating

Nope. Because that opens up a huuuuuuge can of worms. What you propose means that if I don't like what someone is saying, I can -1 them, and get a bunch of other people to -1 them until they're gone. That's gay. As long as they stay within the rules they should be able to stay, regardless of whether or not you like the things they say. "Arrrg that guy edouble is a douche, -1 every thing he posts" and then a few weeks and you're gone. Sound like a good idea?
  11. Short story, bought a new amp locally, it makes my subs murderlize my back window (SUV) About how much did you guys spend on deadening? I'm thinking of doing my front doors, the driver's and passenger's floors and the back hatch. I've never done this before so I don't know how much of anything I need and really don't wanna overkill. I will get some measurements this weekend but I'm just looking for input right now. Probably gonna use SDS unless somebody comes in with something cheaper that's butyl and effective.

How much did you spend on deadening?

Ooo lawd...I bet it rides so smooth it doesn't need deadener.

    Kicker Comps in door

Can everyone that's reading this tread, read my previous thread!! This is ridiculous, I firstly wanted to do a full range meaning lows, mids, and highs in door, and everyone was like that's gonna be difficult, and it's best to just do 1 ONE "ONE* big speaker with a tweet in door. I'm just going to go through with my first idea. I still have it all planned out and that seems to work. And I fully understand what you all are saying. If I did do the kicker comp it's just 30hz to 500hz, then skips to 3k and up. That's why I firstly said I was going to run run an mid-high driver along with the set-up. I'll send you updates on what I decide to do tomorrow. I may go an entirely different route. Just was wanting to try something a bit different. I totally understand. I love bigass mids/highs systems with like 8 mids and giant bullet tweeters that get stupid loud. I just hate to see someone spend a whole shit ton of money and put a whole lotta effort and time into something that is limited by equipment. (For example, you could have a stellar install and those kicker comps would still only play up to 500hz, if that. See what I mean?) Why not do two mids and a supertweet for each door. Two beefy mids will dig deep since they'll be able to help each other making it where you can cross lower. If you still wanna do a 10 and supertweet then I would look into Parts Express like Shizzz said, or hit up Sundown and try the new Neo Pro's.

What is Significant About Box Tuning?

Then he should have bought something other than the AQ's IMO, either that or AQ's recommendations suck. Fuck it we'll just tune low. And he got em for 150 a pop so yeah lol

    Kicker Comps in door

Nooooes! Kicker comps aren't midssssss.... I meant a big ass midRANGE! You're putting subs in your door...
  20. As far as only having mids in the rear deck, have you ever listened to mids by themselves? It sounds awful. I'm REEEEAAAAALLY not trying to hate on your ideas but I can't visualize this. Not in a good way anyway. Why have a 6.5 and an 8 in the door when you could just have a better 8 or a 10? What we're trying to say is...you can still do what you want to do (have a crazy loud n clear front stage that kicks like no other) but EASIER! Trying to cross 3 different speakers at the right points is very hard. Trying to cram several of those 3 speakers into 4 doors and a deck is even harder. More than likely the sound will just end up on top of itself creating cancellation and odd spots that could've easily been avoided. When you're dealing with sound, 1+1 ins't always 2. (It is, but you know what I mean. More isn't always better, in this case louder.)
  21. I'm not very intellectual or have firm understandings on sound reproduction and speakers like Imp or M5 does. But I can say that mixing that many different drivers couldn't possibly sound good, perhaps if you had ungodly processing and some extraordinaire install. You will end up different drivers overlapping playing the same frequencies, probably having a very non linear response. The tweeters will sound extremely harsh, maybe like bullets? The mids in the rear may be useless since they aren't up front and distanced apart. You would definitely need to go active to try and put this all together. Have fun I think he has the frequency separation part down. I just don't think he has any idea how difficult that really is, and he won't see until he's cut holes for everything, bought everything, so on and so forth. So like I said, to minimize headache, just use less drivers.
  22. No offense at all bro, but you're trying to do wayyyyyyy too much. Just get one bad ass set of comps, or get a 10 (or since you wanna go crazy, 12) for mids and a super tweet in each door. It seems like you're trying to cover up for weaknesses by adding more, and then to cover up the weaknesses of what you added, you add even more and just get huge mess. If anything, just try to downsize the number of drivers to minimize headache. Instead of the 6.5 and 8 in each door, just get a big ol mid/midbass like the sundowns that just came out.
