  1. Looking great man. Be very glad you're building your first system with criticism and tips from the guys on SSA. Should make your first quite a success! Wish my parents would hook me up like yours! Haha.

    Great luck man :fing34:

Thanks man! I am very lucky to have a family like mine, and I really appreciate everything that they do for me. I can't stand it when I see a 16 year old driving a $40,000 brand new Mustang that mommy bought for them, when they're completely unaware of how lucky they are..

    I feel ya bro

  2. not to thread jack but Alton...

how did you get the Fi on your box. it looks sick

i been wanting to do something similar like that to mine

Thanks, that's a 22" long vinyl sticker I bought from Fi stuck to the plexi window on the front of the box.

And now, back to the regularly scheduled programming. :ehh:

:roflmao: curdog, there's the ability to PM a user for a reason.

oh shiz. i'm going off topic also :ehh:

  3. I have one Fi SSD 15" and I can't complain. Been bumping it for around a year now on a little more than rated without even breaking a sweat. Quality is great, lows are killer (in a lower tuned box of course). Plus Fi is cheaper ;)

Good luck on your decision. Research research research! :fing34:

  4. Why not 2 15" or maybe even 2 18" SSDs? You have alot of room back there.

would that be louder? or i could maybe get 2 jl w3v3 12's

    I vote 2 18" SSD's or 1 18" BL

I have a 15" SSD and couldn't be more pleased. I highly discourage 2 JL W3's, but that's my personal opinion.

okay, ill probably just go with the one 18 then

Sounds great but do all the needed research before you jump to conclusions. Believe me, if you give it some time and thought your final decision will be much better. Good luck man :fing34:

  5. 8 gauge can be used for subs but depending on your wiring configuation it can be difficult to get 2 runs into one connector on the sub. 10 - 12 gauge is fine for most setups.

I would say that you will have about 20' left over out of 50' of 1/0 doing a normal install w/ the big 3 unless you go around the rear bumper getting to the amp.

Agreed, 8ga wire would a be a beotch to stuff in a sub terminal :D

  7. So 50' of WS 1/0 should avail?

How much extra from the 50' are we talkin about here?

One more question. What brand/size speaker wire would be sufficient? I was thinking going with Knu on this one. I've read that 8 gauge wire is best for subs, while I've also seen you're supposed to run 10. The only wire Knu has in 8 gauge is the KLMX power wire. Is this wire ok to run to the speakers themselves, or should I just stick with 10 gauge?

Also, how many feet of speaker wire would you recommend?

8 gauge wire for the subs??? That's power wire man. Knu 12ga should be perfectly fine. Unless I'm misunderstanding the question lol

  8. In car audio...you get what you pay for!!! (most of the time)

Sorry bro but that's totally wrong. Ever priced an 8" W7? Yeah, nuff said.

OP: Sucks man, but I wouldn't have put the title as F**K Monoprice RCA's. I love my MP cables of every kind, very well made quality wires for CHEAP. We understand your problem but it wasn't MP's fault. Just saying.

  9. I wish I could buy all 3 and do testing that would be sick.Another ? do you think I would be able to break 140dbs with 1 12"?

That's all power, box, vehicle dependent.

Well I hit a 139.8 with an old Kicker L7 10" in the same box that the 12 is goin in i just put a new piece of wood on the front of the box.

Oh no, don't do that my man. Build a whole new box for the 12". It's well worth it.

The 12" in the 10" box will probably sound like a 10"

The box is 1.62 cu.ft. tuned to 35 hz and i was looking at the specs for the sa-12 it requires a 1 to 1.5 cu ft. box for SPL and after sub displacement it will be 1.5

It may sound find in the same box but tuning will change due to the difference in sub displacements.
