    18v ??

We would just have to put in an external regulator, other than that thats all there is to it. For now, we have no other way to do 16v setups that *we're* comfortable with. We have some things in the works, just no dates on when we'll have them..
  2. Just to echo what you said about being in CS, attitude begets attitude in almost all situations. Admittedly, I am a hothead and wrongly made that post right after nearly brawling in my office with one of our now former machine shops (who walked into my office without knocking this morning, got in my face and started throwing parts around after I refused them **while I was on the phone no less**) I know better, dont say things when your hot, just walk away. With regard to people waiting until things are in stock, you would be shocked at the number of people we tell we wont be able to ship it for 2, 3, 4 weeks and could care less. They just want to order and will wait. Within 2 weeks, that will be a long forgotten chapter in our business when we couldn't conduct business not only how we want to, how we should. We are no longer at the mercy of people who have no interest in our business.
  3. You're right, there are 2 sides to every story. I could have handled things more professionally, so could he have on his part. Your feedback is duly noted and respected and I will try and conduct myself in a much more professional manner in the future. Rob

    I need a DC REP

We did do just exactly that on most things, but with over 15k products on the website some of them did slip through the crack..
  5. Correction, you were given dates that my SUPPLIER gave me that he promised he would deliver parts, I never ONCE until the very last time I gave you a date did I ever give you a ship date. Get your story straight... Ring a bell Eric?? You DEMANDED a refund, well guess what, I DID WHAT YOU ASKED and did it the second you asked for it. So if it pissed you off, be mad at yourself bro cuz I only gave you what you asked, (correction DEMANDED) for. I also gave you the option multiple times in that time period of a refund, which you also declined.. GET OVER IT!
  6. BS Eric... You were told exactly what was going on time after time, and when I finally gave you an exact date it would be done, guess what? It was done.. You just pitched a fit the day before, demanded a refund and I GAVE someone else the alt I built for you. Shitty thing is man I bent over BACKWARDS to get that done for you too because of how things went down and how bad you needed it. Too bad for you though man, the XP's for the Hyundai's turned out pretty freaking SICK. You could have had your alt and would have absolutely loved it too... Get over it and move on bro... I understand where your coming from, and unfortunately for us we have (had) too many different suppliers this was happening with and WAY too many things going sideways at the same time as a result. There have been somedays it's been so chaotic around here, we haven't even known wtf is going on. Last week we finally had all of our missing pieces come in and we got the ship back at least sailing straight.. Trust me, if there's one or two things going sideways it's not so bad, but when you get 2,3, or 4 suppliers all at the same time fall apart at the same time you get hammered with orders, thing's go to shit in a hurry. Just to give you an idea of what I have to go through and why thing's go bad, the first 3 months of the year we've shipped a little over 2,000 units (~30 a day). So, on a given day if I have 30 orders to fill if I have 2, 5, or 10 in my production queue that between the time an order was taken (could be that morning, previous day, whatever) and it get's into production we run out of something we have to stop. However, say we normally stock 10 of a given item, reorder point at 2 because that is sufficient for what we do, but, say we get a run on that part (say 10 pieces over 2 days) and we only have 5 on the shelf and I go to order parts and 3 different vendors are out of that part? Sometimes the orders come SO fast that we get oversold. It's not normally an issue on most items because I can get them easily. It's when we get so busy that we clean out multiple vendors so fast they cant keep us in stock. The bad part is sometimes thing's just happen so fast, we can't avoid certain issues. We are working to fix it though. Kyle is building us an inventory management system, and hopefully within the next 30 days or so everything will be automated and we shouldn't have these issues. Every part will have a barcode, specific location, and mostly automated. We've grown to the point that we can't manage things ourself, there's just too much to manage. It's a good thing, but since we're growing so fast we have to take steps to both manage things better, and make thing's faster. We know the issues we have had with communication and CS, believe me, we know, we're not blame free. The simple truth though is if we have it, it gets built, but if I can't get parts, I can't build it no matter what I do. For example, if it's an item that's not done and on the shelf but we inventory parts for it, I can have most unit's go from order point (meaning from the time you hang up the phone) to being on the test bench and ready to ship in ~10 minutes. We keep say 95% of our stock in a ready to assemble state so if I get an order for something it's as simple as get BOM, pick, pick, pick, assemble, test. Boom. Done. When I go to pick part's to build something and they're not there, my suppliers are all out of stock, yeah, that's when things go sideways.. Trust me, we're working on these things and now that we have the big pieces (and prime offenders of our problems) in stock, things will go much, much smoother...

Broken case on 250XP. New Design in the works?

Just in case any of you want to have a look at the new alt, here it is.. New XP housing for Honda's These will all ship out this week unless we're powdercoating them.. Even including Austin's...

    Dual alternator kit requests...

Oh god... *shakes head*.... Im not going to knock whoever built that kit, but that setup is just fail fail fail... Why? 300 amps on a 1.8" pulley with about 45º belt wrap=disaster waiting to happen.. If you're going to delete the A/C, brackets for that will be cake, hell I have an engine here now so that's a walk in the park.. On the low mount, if I get some dimensions from you, I could do a low mount dual for the Astro, but I guarantee it wont be anything like pictured.. For that matter, I could do a triple setup if your doing an A/C delete.. Either way, can do it no problem. Will do that, 2, 270XP's and a 6.7 Cummins dual kit it is.. PCM bypassed and Internally regulated with 15v regulators is a freaking sweet setup on the Cummins engines..
  9. Not should, will have your alternator next week.. I completely understand how you feel, believe me.. Remember, I've been in (and still AM in your shoes) as a customer, only difference is you spent $320 for an alternator with us, where we've spent $20-$30k and are still waiting on parts that are weeks/months behind schedule from our vendors.. I wear the exact same shoe bro, we're just higher up the food chain and where your waiting for one *single* item for you, we're waiting for *hundreds* of that one *single* item that may have a hundred people waiting.. Trust me, if anyone feels your pain and knows how you feel, it's me. Frankly, I don't freaking like it not only for myself personally, but In my case it effects multiple people (such as you) and I really, really dont like people waiting when it's a result of me waiting on someone else. It's bad, very, VERY bad for business....
  10. James, to my knowledge it left last week, but I just checked and sure enough it hasn't. Come to think about it, I know I built this mid-last week and I really want to know where the hell it ended up because I specifically remember building it because I built a 180HP for it.. Your name or paperwork wasn't in my build queue for this weekend but I will get one built tomorrow since they are next up on the list. I finally just got housings for these Friday btw, I went and picked them up actually. I knocked out about 80 units today, and should get about that done tomorrow, and by the end of the week EVERYONE should have their orders.. Stan was relaying info to you that I gave him, and quite honestly I don't remember your name coming up specifically, just we had 2 customers waiting for this alternator. We did get shipped the wrong housings though, which is why I built a 180HP for you last week.. (Kind of aggravated about that now). Now that we actually have parts to finally able to build alternators, machines to make parts, and are in control of things instead of waiting on other people things will go much, much smoother.. Please understand though, at the volume of business we are doing right now, our vendors can't keep up. And we're talking about companies like GM (cleaned out nationwide on idler pulleys), Denso (cleaned them out worldwide on regulators), Remy, Gates rubber (bought every belt in 2 sizes in the country) etc.. Big companies are big on running "JIT" parts and that just doesn't work for us. If we need it, we need it now, not 3-6 weeks from now!! Trust me, if you guys are waiting on something from us your not waiting on DC Power, (99.999% of the time), you're waiting on these guys.. The last few months have been an absolute pr*ck to run this business because of supplier issues. That said though, within 2 weeks (2 huge orders to clear first, along with all outstanding backorders) our ship times should drop to either same or next day on about 99% of orders. We've finally had big shipments of things (housings, windings etc) coming in, and when they do we build like mad.. It doesn't take us long to build a few hundred units, IF we have the parts to do it... Rob

Alt request for 2009 chev malibu 2.4L

Now that we have our machines, we will roll pretty quickly on getting this one done.. The Ecotec engines are REALLY popular and we were going to start doing one, just no real point when we had machines on the way and our old machine shop wouldn't have in any way got this done before we could ourselves.. I appreciate you being patient though..

Jordan, what Kyle said, unless I run out of housings for these (which we will have on Monday) they are always in stock and usually ship in 1-2 days.. And fwiw, the 170 OEM is really a 180+ amp unit... From a sales standpoint, it is literally impossible to differentiate 2 different 180 amp alternators with $100 price differences to 99.999% of people, so we rate that alternator at 170 instead of 180 (just FYI).. (And yes, the 180HP really is worth the extra $$) Until we brought out the 180HP's, that alternator was our bread and butter.

    Dual alternator kit requests...

Ok, I'm going to try and answer most of these in one post... Kryptonite, we have our CNC's in now and can make the brackets for WAY less than that if you still are interested.. I have a bracket for the lower drivers side that *may* fit the Astro's now, I would need pics again to see... Its a REALLY compact bracket and may fit.. Rid'n, I still have no idea on that one.. Haven't even seen one of those motors in a LONG time.. Bangin, hit me up by email and we can get going on this now that we have machines and I can do it in house.. Iced, we have a kit already for that.. The kit is I think $369, and you can run twin 270XP's if you want to on that one.. if your going to be in So-Cal in April, definitely stop by and check out the shop! We love having customers stop by!

You are welcome, and thank you.. For what it's worth, I (we) are not the kind of company that's going to tell people get the 210, it's better and you'll get more DB'z... I swear, at least 5 times a day we try and talk people out of bigger alternators because they don't need it but they always go big.. In this case, on this car, our 180HP will walk over anything 200-220.. If you want a "true comparison" strictly speaking, the 180HP will do ~160 hot because it only gives up about 10-11% to heat, our competitors 220 amp alternator, gives up 25% to heat because of horrible winding and cooling IN-efficiency, especially when hot. Last time I checked 220*.75=165.. So, in the end our 180 is essentially the same as their 220 in the "real world"... But, 220 >180 the way most people see it, when in real use our 180 will smoke it hands down...

Broken case on 250XP. New Design in the works?

Should everyone with a Honda alt get the new bracket to be safe or just people that have 250 and 270XP's? What Phi said.. It's only the XP's on the Accords we had this problem with.. Everything else was golden.. I'm really going to hate scrapping $1500 worth of brackets because of this now, but life goes on...

    Alternator Request for a mazda

Well, I haven't really gave them a "name" yet, but they have the same winding technology as the XP's do.. In all honesty, for their size they are better alternators output wise.. The 190 amp version will do 200 (exactly) but we rated them 190.. In your 3 though, the only alt we can really build is the 220 because of the frames.. NO way am i doing billet for them.. lol Just for reference here's a power curve... While it may not seem all that impressive, for that size alt it's REALLY impressive...

After about 200 you will get some slip on real small diameter pulleys but we run 2.00" pulleys on those on 320's without too much slipping problems.. It's on the 1.8" pulleys you run into problems.. If you have the scratch, the 180HP is hands down the best, but if your budget is more 170OEM, you wont be disappointed I guarantee... The 210 is a great alternator, but the 180HP is better because of the efficiency and idle output and 99% of people wouldn't notice the difference between 180 and 210 on the top end.. The only reason we build a 200 in that case is because people are hung up on "200 amps is better"..

Broken case on 250XP. New Design in the works?

Well, the good news is I got the castings today for the Honda's and they were perfect first shot.. SO I started building the alternators.. BUT, since the bracket we built was designed for the billet housing, our castings wont fit it because of the spacing of the adjustment ear.. That's kind of a good thing because I will have them make the brackets out of 3/8" plate and more reinforced this time just because I dont EVER want to have another one of these cars have issues.. So, I will have the fab shop start making the brackets tomorrow and we should have them done by Tuesday at the latest (they are right next door and are very fast, unlike our other suppliers).. If I wouldn't have had the bracket issue, I would have shipped alts today guys, overnight to you all.. I can ship some (not powdercoated ones) tomorrow and ship brackets separate next week if you want, or I can ship them together with the brackets next week whichever you guys prefer. I'll post a pic of the new housing later when I upload it..

    Look what just arrived...

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too... Lol.. Then it's programable hydraulic tailstock upgrade, upgrade this, upgrade that etc etc... Buying machinery is like buying a car, there's the advertised price, hen there's the "real" price for the one that's actually what you want/need...
  20. DC Power Rob

    Look what just arrived...

14680 lbs... No lightweight fir sure... And I wish that was only $63k, with add-ons and upgrades it was just under $100k... The mill with upgrades and add-ons was over $100k, not to mention the CNC bar feeder band saw that we bought too...

Can someone from DC Power Contact ME!!!!

Again, BS bro... You got your update.. Have fun finding someone to make you a housing for that alternator... Not that your earlier post was the entire deciding factor, just the icing on the cake, the other 95% of it was the attitude you gave MY employees prior to that on the phone. Let me give you a tip, you want a favor, treat the people giving you the favor nicely and don't be a d*ck on the phone..

    I need a DC REP

BS Austin, you've been updated obviously it seems you just cant remember what you say.. I mean seriously dude, that was just yesterday and you already forgot that I told you they would be shipping to us Monday, (REPLIED to my post no less)and you'd have it at the absolute latest the end of next week?? Do none of you even pay attention to the fact that it's not us that's holding this shit up?? I dont know how many more times I need to remind you people.. And you want to say it's us that has such horrible CS?? I got news for ya bud, for every one of you I have at least 200 other customers that are more than happy with both our product, AND our customer service. We cant please everyone obviously..
  23. DC Power Rob

Can someone from DC Power Contact ME!!!!

And you think you have ANY room to comment on this how Austin?? This coming from somebody who bought an alternator second hand, someone who was STILL going to get their alternator fixed free when we are under NO obligation to do so since you were not the original purchaser.. You've been shown nothing but good customer service by us and yet you still want to run your mouth about something you have no business commenting about?I guess have finding someone else to fix your alternator because it sure the hell wont be us. I'll make sure your alternator ships back to you tomorrow..
  24. DC Power Rob

Can someone from DC Power Contact ME!!!!

Well i guess if we didnt clean all of GM out of the idler pulleys we use for these we would have shipped it too.. Either way we will ship it Monday or tuesday when he pulleys show up. With 20 possible holes they could go in, it's best we install the idlers before we ship the bracket.. And thanks for the votes of confidence..

Broken case on 250XP. New Design in the works?

I got the first three parts of one of the housings today for a final machining approval which is now done, the rest of the parts are on the mill as we speak and will be done Monday. SO, unless something CATASTOPHIC happens you will all have alternators in your hands by the end of next week!
