  1. The sub could care less if you send it a clipped signal, it doesn't hurt anything....

That light may start blinking at the very onset of clipping, maybe an amount of 1% or so. This isn't audible and is inconcequencial to your subs.

As stated earlier, if your amplifer has the ability to produce more power than the speaker's RMS rating, than this is what will blow your sub.... So be careful.

If you don't want to see the clipping light, either turn down the volume somewhere or hide the bass knob...

WHAT?? are you kidding me? lol the sub is THE thing that will get hurt by clipping. when you clip, the sub actually moves less and has a bit of a pause at each peak. so there is less air being forced through the voice coil and it overheats. just look at a sign wave, that wave is exactly what a speaker is doing. if there is a flat part, the speaker is holding at that point.

  2. anything under 12v is a bad thing. i always try to stay above the batteries resting voltage.

as for clipping, your gains aren't set correctly. you need to turn the gain down or just dont turn up your remote knob so much. clipping is horrible for subs. the sub will move less and therefore cool itself less, while getting more heat from the amp putting out dirty power. it is the main reason for a blown sub.

  3. eh, it worries me a little bit. i do have foam rubber under the mounting rails. i think having the amps upside down helped with the old amps. all the components are sitting on top of the board instead of hanging from it. takes away some pressure. at least thats my theory.

but these amps have a 2 year warranty so... who cares lol.

  4. decided to make some new pods today. not sure whats going in them or my long term goals for my front stage but here is what i got so far.

ill do more work once i find a setup i like. those doors pods will probably be coming off and new ones made.

guess what side my cousin did.

  5. who cares who is louder outside? you want to be louder inside. i mean, if you really care about pissing other people off on the road, just put the speakers in your grill.

but you old told us your friends subs. we have no idea what you have, subs, box, amps, car. you didnt say shit lol.

  6. so i was told my wall was too big, lol which it is 16 cubes for 4 12"s, but beyond that, we still get a solid 152 on 1900 watts clamped, looking to gain fairly large numbers (1.5 db) without increasing power and withing 2 weeks lol. but i was told about a rear loading wall, the guy told me that he stumbled across putting a "wall" inside the wall that has around 2-3" of gap between the edges and was at a slight angle, claims to have gained him 8 db (i doubt it, but he has all the equipment to know what he did and how much it gained). what do you guys think of this, all i can think of is that is sounds like a bandpass with some sort of a horn effect to it... im not sure what to think about it, but im going to try it and see what happens, just was wondering if anyone has heard of this, has any pointers to trying this method out? let me know!

    Thanks,

    Anton Miller

Rusty at DC told me about the same thing. seemed unbelievable. im sure it depends on the box but i say give it a try. just put the wood in place with some silicone so its easy to pry out if it doesnt work. and of course if it does work, make it permanent with wood glue.

  7. cool. ya, SMD is getting flooded with noobs and their advice while the experienced members have stopped caring. but i do know a lot of people on smd so its still fun.

BTW, i just moved to nebraska from cali, so if there is anyone in lincoln nebraska on here, hit me up. i need to make some friends in this town lol.

  8. Welcome on The right forum !!!

    nice build.

These DC subs look so small in your box ! I thought they were 10" subs, but no, you said 12".

Looks like they slam hard !

lol a lot of people think they are 10"s. i get that question at almost every show. then when i reconed them to 1ohm coils i thought rusty had sent me 10"s lol.

thanks again for the welcome guys. people here pretty chill? hope its not at all like CA.com lol.

  9. thanks for the welcome guys! let me know if there is anything else you want to see. i cut out all the pics of deadener and a few progress pics, mostly of the door pods. i dont really like them, functionally, so im looking to do something new. either A pillars or a sound bar across the dash.

oh i forgot to add the other component specs. ill go edit that.

oh, nvm i cant edit it already lol. i have:

pdx 150.4 running rainbow 6.5" midrange and crescendo 6.5" midbass

alpine mrp running the tweeters and rear pioneer coaxials

    JBL MS-8 for the processor

    pioneer z110 HU

    DC power 270xp alt

one kinetik 1800, two 2400s, one NGT G31

two 1/0 runs of power and ground front to back.

im also starting to compete in SQ.

  10. hey guys, i just joined this forum so i figured i would introduce myself with a build log. i built this for 149.9 bassracing but i just as i finished everything, i moved to a place where there is no dbdrag so... damn. lol. but for some reason i like being a little different, so im trying to do it with a pair of 12"s. there is a sundown 1500 in most of these pics because thats what i started with. the crescendo amps are new.

    specs.

    2x 12" DC level 4XLs

    2x Crescendo 3ks

    box is 4^ft tuned to 38hz, 2x 6" aeros.
