  1. Fat mat RattleTrap! Omg! It works REALLY well and it's thick. The main thing in buying sound deadner is how thick it is and if it's asphalt based or not. I tried using peel and seal on my trunk and in my doors. Ended up everything coming off, my windows got messed up, my tint messed up, the trunk peel and seal fell off and got all over my amp and stuff. On top of that, it's horrible to clean off. I know you have already decided to run away from peel and seal but i thought i should let you know!

  2. Just do some more reaserch. I know no one else has said anything about your topic but make sure that there isn't something just as good out there for less. Just because it's "big name brand" doesn't mean that it's the only opition. Like Phi told me, "Don't get stuck on something, there is always better [and/or] products out there"

  3. Hey Kyle, Stan, Rob. I have talked to Kyle about 4 weeks ago, emailed him 3 weeks ago, and left another voicemail with him today, left Stan a voicemail about a week ago and talked to Rob on the phone about a week ago. I have still yet to get anything figured out or my daily driver running. I haven't heard back from Kyle or stan in over 4 weeks and I was told my Rob that the situation would be taken care of by this week but i am still here waiting. Get back to me ASAP.

  4. Looks Great!! Thanks for the vid!! What you got in mind for upgrade on sub amp?
    2 AQX3500's :)Thanks man!!
    That'll give :morepower1:
    Haha it better! :fing34:
On the 13th of this month there's a show in avondale,4/9/2011 = phx6/11/2011 = prescott valley (flyer: http://www.mecacaraudio.com/flyers/6-11-11AZ.pdf)7/9/2011 = prescott valleycheck the meca site when the shows are coming up, they often change the schedules around.
Oh wow. Well all the times i have checked there wasn't even shows in AZ. But the 9th, tomorrow, there is a show? Do you go to shows or have you been not interested?
    rape whistle FTW
Haha! It's not a rape whistle!! :fryingpan:
I've been to a few shows when they were in tucson, haven't ventured up to phx for a show yet, certainly not going to do it when I have nothing to show ;)I also saw some pepper spray in the youtube video :peepwall:

Oh and your score better jump when your finished with the box, new amps, and batteries. Better beat 150 ;)

    Haha funny guy! :lookkickballs::throwrock:

Yeah i hope my score goes up. I am kinda nervous though because right now my box sits at 17 cubes and is probably tuned at 40+. This is good because i am running low power. But once i cut down on my size inside and tune lower, i am scared that my score will actually go down...

For real, i had 2k and 2 10s in the trunk doing the same score. hehe. but if things go the way I want for the summer, I'm walling my coupe. :)

Oh seriously? The same score as me? Yeah dude!! Wall it!! Haha :rockwoot:

  6. Nope, just regular 1/0 welding cable, paid $2.42/ft. from Weldingsupply. I also bought a bunch of the big ass copper ring terminals from them, they work great too, but they are a little thick at the bolt hole. The Lenco Swedge-on tool and Barracutter wire cutter also work great. So far I am very pleased with everything I've bought from them.

Wow that's awesome! I really appreciate the picture! I was thinking it was a lot less flexible then that but wow that's awesome! I can't wait to buy some! Thanks for your information with this!

  7. nice work!! looks like your getting the job done

Yeah man, slowly but surely. Next week hopefully i will be doing a lot more work on it. I will be able to show you the braces we added once i get my front baffle off too.

But yeah. Lots of work to do, just never enough time to do it all in

  8. Just snapped a couple pics to show the flexibility of 1/0 welding cable

Thanks man! This isn't even the ultra flex is it?

i forgot about the wall. you may have to run the wire under the car cus you already got the wall up. unless you still have room on the sides under the wall you can run the wire from the front to the back of the trunk. I ran the wire from the battery on the passenger side of the car to the back. just following the side trim all the way back. There is a hole, i think it was already empty or something, and I just ran my wire from the inside through to the engine bay. you can't see the hole from the engine bay. you can make another hole or make it bigger if you plan to run more wire.

Yeah that's the problem i am facing right now. I am not quite sure but hopefully it can fit. Plus i want to run... 2-3 runs of 2/0 or 1-2 3/0 wire to the back. I have no idea if that would even have a chance to fit with that. When i first put my kenwood's in and amp, i had my friend install it and he took the front to back cable from the battery across the car, into the back, then it was there. He just didn't run it through the passenger side because we didn't see any holes we could get through. If there is, then i could probably run wire from both sides and be set. Maybe...

Just email Nathan at nathan@xspowerbatteries.comTell him your needs and he will help you outRead thishttp://4xspower.com/support/faqs/

Alright i will. Just not big on xs :glare: or their prices man...

  9. Everything looks titties! Good job keeping it simple. :fing34:

Thanks man! Can't wait to upgrade!

Was that a rape whistle in your cup holder? :roflmao: You going to the next show up in prescott? I believe theres two shows up there, spaced apart a couple weeks, perfect timing for you to seal your box, get a bigger amp, and more batteries eh :P

Haha nah man. I work at Jumpstreet so it's part of my uniform. I keep it in there so i don't forget it. When is the show? I had no idea! More information please!!

    Good job on the build.

    Thanks man!!

  10. o i get you.. kinda lol! okay about running it under the car you would have to wrap it in that loom stuff and tie it up good so it doesn't fall and bad things happen but then again you use fuses right! now i am sure they make grommets for 4/0 wire so grommet sizes isn't an issue there. as for size 1/0 is 1/0 welding wire or not the size and diameters of the wires are all the same it is a standard right! just because it is welding doesn't mean that much other then it is 100% copper.now flexibility i think it bends almost as good as normal 1/0! but you would have to aks ppl who use welding wire! and i am sure on this forum there is a hand full of ppl who use it. current with my car i have 4 runs of 1/0 wire going from: alt to front battery, front battery to rear battery, rear battery to amp! and i put them all under the trim piece also, i just push a little bit more and i got the wires to go under the carpet a bit more! then again i am not sure how your car and trim works though you have to take it apart and go from there. I wish i could be more help but unless i see what you are getting at i can't offer much of a suggestion.

Yeah i know that. Idk, maybe it's just me. Yeah, haha fuses for sure man. But i am planning to air bag my car so i want to be able to slam it without running the wires. I just rather not spend money to have to keep replacing them. Oh okay, i didn't know man. Sorry i just figured welding wire was going to be different the normal wire but i guess not. Nah man, you have already helped a lot. Thank you! I think i understand it a bit more now, I'm probably going to be using this instead of my 1/0 for my runs and for my big 3!

For batteries, go with the Deka 9a31. Im currently running 1600w by means of a hifonics brutus and I have a stock 100 amp alt with a single 9a31 and I dont drop below 12.8v (<-pretty impressive if you ask me). No offense at all but, if this is your first install, you should see if there is someone on the forum or an experienced friend who can help you out. Its very easy to screw something up and the last thing you want is your car going up in flames over a install error.

This isn't really my first install. This is my first install with welding wire, but overall, no. I know what i am doing, i know i just sound really stupid on here. I just like to ask a lot of questions, but i do try to answer the obvious ones myself without having to ask.

welding cable is flexible but it doesn't just fall like wet noodles, and you can run 2/0 welding cable through the firewall. I have it like that. and I have room to run under the carpet so you have room too.

Where exactly through the carpet did you put it? or through the fire wall, then heading towards the center console and all the way to the back. The reason i say i don't know if i can do it like that, mainly because of that trim piece but also because of how my wall is built, i am not sure if i can run a thick gauge wire like that all the way to the back. Would it be overkill to do 3/0 or 4/0? And also, i would want to do some runs of welding wire from the Alternator to the batteries. So i don't know where i would put all of those.

  11. It's cool that you want to support local business. But when those businesses are taking money from you, lying to you, and doing poor quality jobs. I will not pay more money for them. Why would i pay MORE for LESS, that doesn't make sense. I am here in the Tempe, Arizona scene and here we have pretty sleezy guys. I have been to two of the "top" names in car stereo. Audio express and Sounds good to me.

My first experience at Audio express was when i was 16 and had my Honda Accord freshly bought and i was hungry for a system. Not knowing what to get i walked into Audio Express with my dad and 500 dollars on my card from working at Harkins Theaters that summer. I was pretty excited when i walked in to hear bass and saw that the listening room was right there. I listened to the different woofers but before i had left with my dad to get to audio express i had been looking online and had been thinking about either getting Alpine type R's or Rockford P3's, 12 inch ones. The prices straight from Rockford were expensive so i thought by going to a local audio store i could get them for less. After a while we were approched by a guy who worked at Audio Express and we talked for a few moments. Me and my dad started talking to him about what i wanted and what i had in mind. I told him that i wanted to be loud with my bass and maybe rattle some windows. He explained to me that with my budget there was no way that i would be able to get 2 P3's and a high end enough of an amp to get it. Dissapointed and a bit shocked i looked over on one of the shelves and saw a 1000 watt kenwood amp on sale. I asked him if i got that, wouldn't it push 2 Rockford P3's. He told me that the amp would only be able to push 1 P3 and that i could try to push 2 P3's but in the end i would just blow them out. He then explained to me that there was managers special going on and that for only $500 (humm.) that i could get 2 12 inch kenwood's and a 1000 kenwood amp. I told him i would talk to my dad about it. In talking to my dad he explained that maybe i should wait and see if i could get a better deal somewhere else. I tried to ask the guy from Audio Express if i could come back later that week or have sometime to think about it. He told me that the sale was ending in 2 more days. So i ended up buying it. About a year later (2 months ago) my friend had my first amp that i bought from him. I bought warranty on my amp and subs. The amp had not been able to turn on for some reason, and after looking at it I knew that it was something wrong with the actual, not fuses. I tried to get it replaced and he told me that because they don't sell that model anymore, they wouldn't give me a new replacement amp, but that i could get my warranty money back but only half ($10). They also installed my remote start and viper alarm system, i have taken it in 5 times and each time it just breaks again.

There is way more to all of this but seeing my story, as long as it is, i think i won't type up anymore because i know you guys don't like to read... lol.

Long story short, Local business just try to rip people off and pretend that they are the only solution. Screw that, lets go online.

EDIT: P.S. I looked online awhile back and saw i could buy (and ended up buying them for a friend) those subs for 50 each and the amp for 100 dollars. Hum, so i spent 350 more then i needed to. Awesome.

  12. so you are saying you never seen anyone use welding wire? and what do you mean you don't know how to get it there? have you considered to drill a hole and use a grommet? you can pass it though the under body of the car or under the rug of your car?

Yeah that's exactly what i am saying. I have never seen it installed or being installed. I don't know how flexible it is and i have never seen the actual dimiater of the wire. Well i am going through a grommet in my firewall but i don't know if i can fit a 2/0 wire through it. I don't have any room to really run it through the carpet. I have my 1/0 wire going under my trim pieces. Yeah i know i could run it under my car but i don't want it to get messed up if something while i am driving rubs the isolation off or something like that. I just don't want my wire to get ruined is what i mean.

  13. Honestly, if you don't know what your talking about please don't post stuff that isn't true. Seeing as i just was talking to some people about this cable and wanted to see how it is used and see what other opinions are about it. When you post false information, people tend to believe or double think about what you posted. I will now look more about it online but for people who aren't smart enough to double check sources, you just threw them on the wrong path. From what i have heard and read, Welding wire is just as good as any car audio wires. When you weld you are using a continuous electrical current through the wire. And to say that when you weld you don't continuously use power is ridiculous. The only thing that i can think of that maybe you got that idea off of is that on some welders it talks about if you use the welder for 5 minutes you need to let it cool for 55 minutes. I have seen that before but i think that pertains more to the welder and the way it needs to cool. Not the wire

  14. ya i forgot about steve meade's lol! that guy is nuts and money seems to no object to him! lucky man! but ya i see a lot of ppl who love them so i don't know! they are the first brand i tend to think of when someone says batteries. plus i like the blue color and design of the batteries lol just not the price!

do i recommend buying on amazon.. yes i do i do it all the time! and i know of other ppl who do buy batteries off amazon!

Yeah man i know. I am not trying to bad mouth the guy because he has done a lot to raise car audio awareness but i have heard he is a jerk in real life. Even though yesterday i did talk to someone who said he met him and didn't really have anything bad to say about him. I guess it just depends on how you met him which is the same with anyone. Yeah, he gets lots of money from SMD and from Youtube.

    Oh really? Sweet.

  15. Check out THIS thread... Talks about the welding wire and a good place to get it... :eek5wavey:Also from the HC2400 to HC3800 (biggest Kinetik), there isn't a huge jump in specs... Money thought is over a $100 increase....

Thank you for the link! I am checking it out now!

Oh really? Wow, thanks for letting me know. I didn't even check it out yet but i just assumed... Last time i will assume something. Thank you man.

Hey and acutally. Why is this XS battery 3400 less then the 3100? I might buy this now. I hope this isn't just some typo or something.PLEASE BE TRUE!
Model number does not signify better battery.... 3400 is I think 65AH .... The 3100 is 117AH I believe...

:suicide-santa: Wow. I just got excited because i assumed again. Learned my lesson twice in about 2 seconds. How come it's like that? I would just believe you would increase AH's as you increase model numbers...

  16. i have the stock alt in right now. highest charging voltage is 13.8volt, usually sits around 12.8volt. i have heard horror stories with kinetik and have had a kinetik go bad on me so i stay with what has been good to me, deka and xs.

i had the ap30001d between the wheel wells so you should be fine with either amp between there. I just didn't have it right up against the back seat though. You should look up the length of the amp and measure the space you want to put it.

i run 2/0 welding cable. :) I don't see a voltage drop from the front to back so i assume running the way I have it is good enough.

Oh really? Mine has gone to 13.4 before but that's when the car was off and the battery charger was on it. Oh really? Yeah nothing has really happened with mine. What happened with yours? Oh really? Sweet. And actually, just thinking about it. I don't think that's where i am mounting it. Maybe. Either that or putting the sides of the box. I guess we will see where it will look good and where i can have the shortest run of wire to and from. Yeah i will measure for sure. Oh okay sweet. I guess i will take a look at it. What's the difference with 2/0 compared to 1/0? I never really understood that
