    High Excursion Drivers

In my latest shipment I received two 'next-gen' 18" protos. The build quality on them is very good, and should make a few folks happy. The Xmax is 27mm but the T/S specs on them are a bit shy of my target, so I am not going to post them here until I speak to the OEM. Here are some shots: Best, Mark

    Data Loss

Hi Folks, It doesn't appear that we are going to be getting the more recent data back, so if you want to repost your previous threads, links, or whatever you had, please do so. That way others will have access to them now and in the future. Best regards, Mark

    MJ-18 4 Ohm Version

** Update ** A MJ-18 4 Ohm sample will be made up and measurements taken by the OEM in about a week. If all turns out well, and consensus here is positive, a run of them will be done and shipped here in about 7-8 weeks. Thanks, Mark

    MJ-18 4 Ohm Version

Hi All, Ok, so a few of you mentioned that a 4 Ohm version of the MJ-18 would be in order. It is coming close to my order time, so a batch of these can be included with the main order. I do however, need some commitment from those who are planning on going with 18" drivers in their setup and are strongly considering an MJ-18 (read buying one). Here are the particulars to this: - The 4 Ohm version will have very similar parameters to the MJ-18. I will request that a sample be made and measured to verify. Any changes in specs will be posted here for all to see. - Consider the price of the MJ-18 to be the starting point - $59.38CA. If I can get it lower, I will, and you will save. - Lead time is ~2 months. Please keep this in mind when deciding. I will keep you in the loop of any changes or adjustments. Also keep in mind that changes in lead times are beyond my control, so please don't get discuraged if it takes an extra week - you will get your product. - I would like to see a $20 non refundable deposit from those who are interested. Payments can be made thru PayPal using sales@mach5audio.com as the recipient. I will require your full name and mailing addy to keep track of things. - The more the merrier, so spread the word. If there's anything I missed, let me know. Best regards, Mark

    Mach 5 12"s ported test

a 600 watt RMS amp playing music should be fine on 1 of them... I haven't completed enough testing on the box sizes... but judging from its output in 2.25 cuft.. I think it would be fine.. may even help the sq out some... Loyd L. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've had good results in a 2.6 cube box tuned to 25Hz. Note however that you will be sacrificing power due to the MAW-12's limited excursion. You run out of excursion at about 225 watts. For SQ, a pair would be more than sufficient tho. Best, Mark

    Mach 5 15"

4 Ohms nominal refers to the driver having a 4 Ohm impedance across most of its operating range. This is different from DC resistance which can measure anywhere from 1.8 to 3.5 Ohms. Hope this helps. Mark

    SonoSub Using MJ-18

Around $55CA give or take a buck - about the same for the equivilency in MDF. But I was able to bang this off in an afternoon, whereas it would take a couple of days to build a box. Best, Mark

    Mach 5 15"

Hi Unit, You're right, there will be a 15" coming. Its a finish to the MAW line so it will be a dual 4 Ohm (nominal) vc and 500 watts RMS power handling. Here are the specs (from the manufacturer): MAW-15 Fs = 24.6Hz Re = 4 Ohm (both coils connected in series) Qms = 5.06 Qes = 0.35 Qts = 0.33 Rms = 7.2kg/s Cms = 0.18mm/N Mms = 236.7gr Bl = 20.4 SPL = 90.9 VAS = 190L Le = 2.41mH Xmax = 13mm These may vary a bit as I take my own measurements when I receive the order. I select a few units randomly, exercise the suspension and test them before posting the final numbers on the site. Best regards, Mark
