First reveiw of the Toolmaker circle jig!
Loud n Clean replied to rival904's topic in Product Reviews
Yep, that's the one I use. I need a new one though, messed it up trying to get it out of the chuck. Need my own router too, I used one from my job and it's not the greatest. Any suggestions? -

You are suppose to for couple reasons-1- if you want to keep your bits lasting longer, you will make 2-3 passes per circle. 2- if using MDF, it helps prevent a fire if resistance keeps forming. I didn't know that, but makes perfect sense -

This thing ready for primetime yet? When you were cutting your circle, why did you make multiple passes instead of just one pass? -
Another amp gain setting topic...

But that never changes no matter if you tune by ear or with the device of your choice, so why guess? -

Another amp gain setting topic...

You should get a DD-1! It will allow you to adjust your gain to match your source unit perfectly. But if you don't have $150 to invest in one of those you should at least use a dmm to set it, it's not as accurate as using the DD-1 or an Oscilliscope but it'll get you alot closer than trying to do it by ear. This is a very easy method for properly setting the gain. While gains can be set by ear, the proper level would be subjective to the listener. The DMM method is favored because it is quantifiable and not subject to personal bias. It works by measuring the output voltage, or rms power, that your amp is producing while connected to your unique wiring/head unit configuation. This handy chart is for reference: Step 1: Determine the RMS output of one channel of your amplifier and the rated RMS input of your speakers/subwoofers you will be using on that channel. Select the lower of the two for referencing the chart above. Step 2: Match the impedance (ohms) you have on one channel of your amplifier to the column on the chart. Step 3: Turn your amplifier gain all the way down. Step 4: Disconnect all speakers/subwoofers from the amplifier Step 5: Insert the leads of the multimeter in to the channel you are setting (if bridging an amplifier use the terminals you would be using) Step 6: Set the multimeter to ac volts Step 7: Turn on the head unit, zero out all EQ settings, turn off all filters (low pass/high pass), and make sure loudness is off. Step 8: Insert the test tone cd Step 9: Set the volume to 75%-80% of the maximum volume on your head unit. Step 10: Start playing the appropriate test tone - recommended 50hz for subwoofers, 1000hz for mids/highs Step 11: Slowly turn the gain until you obtain the voltage from the chart Step 12: Turn off the head unit, unhook the multimeter, hook up your speakers/subwoofers, then readjust your filters/eq settings to your liking and you're done. -
Any updates on this?

Now that's excellent customer service! if each package contains a full refund for the price of it's contents, at least. One can dream, right? -

and here we are, nearly a month later and they still have not shipped? What a shock! I guess that big investment in bringing alot of processes in house hasn't changed things much. That's too bad cause if the customer service could ever catch up to the product quality they'd have a really good thing going on over there. -
I'm a member on SMD too and seen tons of your posts and i'm glad you got banned cause you were a straight up prick most of the time.

I love the look of those cars, sedan or coupe I don't even care, they just have nice body lines and an aggressive look to them.

Now I see why this has been dragged on for 2 years. OP - I feel for you, i'm not blaming you at all for the inadequecies of DC Power and the horrendous way they have handled this transaction up to this point. But at the end of the day you've got to draw a line in the sand and stick to it....you seem to keep drawing the line and then allow yourself to get talked in to erasing the line and waiting longer. I'm not in your shoes, but I find it incredibly hard to imagine I could wait 2 years and counting for my product. I don't do well with being lied to and I know how DC Power likes to lie (it's almost done, should be shipping in a couple days....then it doesn't ship) and knowing 4 people locally who bought alts from DC (all of whom experienced this same exact problem) my tolerance would be very low for such a thing. I hope somehow, some way, you get this thing resolved ASAP. Good luck to you. DC Power - I kind of get the feeling you think you have a right to go on the offensive against the members here who have posted their opinion on the subject after reading the OP's horror story....seriously bro, can you blame them? How would you feel if you were waiting 2 years on the vendor of your CNC machines to deliver the product you just paid a quarter million for? Especially after them telling you repeatedly that they were gonna be delivered next week, over and over again. Just in this thread alone you told the guy back in November that he'd have something....we're in February now and he still has nothing. And it's not like this is the exception, there are numerous folks who have dealt with this from you guys and you pacified alot of them by throwing a free alt at them, so now that this has come to light you really should just take your hits, make your changes, and let your new and improved business processes and transactions speak for themselves. Taking a hostile stance against prospective customers just doesn't seem like a smart business move. Agreed 100%Well I hope this gets resolved, for the OP's sanity, quickly and satisfactorily and hopefully it exceeds his expectations. -
And I thought I was gonna be the first to wall off a Monte Carlo I'm definitely tuned in and can't wait to see how it all turns out. I wish I could help out actually.
