    Orion hcca 12.2 amp decision

sorry i mean 36Hz lol but ya i got my 1501d amp today and WOW. im very impressed with theis sub and amp. it is louder than the 2011 kicker l7 15 i had in a 5CF box and for how low and loud it got, i didnt think 1 12 could do it. but sure enough the hcca does! i gave the box builder a down payment to get started on it. 3.0CF tuned to 36Hz. hes double facing it and building a craddle for the magnet. sound good for $150? he built me a sealed box for a 15" L5 i used to have and it was 2x's louder than the pre-fab. box i had previous to his box. and i can choose what color carpet i want. lol

    Orion hcca 12.2 amp decision

why is there a need for pic's? all i have in my truck right now is a orion hcca 12 in a small S**T ported box. and i cant make a video without a amp lol. my amp is soposed to be here tomorrow so as soon as i get it, ill shoot a video for yall. Hes addicted to speaker porn ah it all makes since now lol. i got to looking at my box erlier today, and all along the bottem of every part of the inside of the box has a crack in the calking. im guessing that means the box is coming apart? its a pre-fab. box. i did the calculation and after displacment the sub has 1.5CF of breathing room. and thats not including the displacment of the port because idk how to do that.... im having my local shop guy build me a nice box. he said his plans are around 3.0CF before displacement tuned to around 26Hz. double faced with a magnet brace inside. what do you all think? ill have a mtx 1501d pushing it.

well i put my kicker zx1500.1 on craigslist for 3 hours and its already gone. i purchased a mtx 1501d on ebay for 299.99 with a warranty. me and my local shop buddy were discussing the iissue. he is a big audiopipe guy himself and recommended the audiopipe3000d. then we got to talking about mtx and there amps and he said that the 1501d would be better on my electrical (which is stock) and decent power.

    Dual 12" L7's ?

i mean lets not hate on l7's too hard. if they are as bad of subs as everyone here says they are, then why does everyone buy them? sure, there are better subs but in the price range for a l7 (250) you cant get much louder without spend more money. i was looking for 1 sub for my truck and it had to be a 15. i was looking at the sundown sa 15, the l7, re audio sx... i went with the l7 and to be honest, i couldnt be happier. i wanted to be loud but i only could afford 1 15 and the l7 fit the discription. the SA (i was told) has med. SQ and med. SPL. but like i said, i only could afford 1 15 and i wanted to be loud. it flexxes my windows, mirrors, and my CB ( yess i said CB) antennas without a problem. and its SQ isnt all that bad. better than i expected. i have a kicker zx1500.1 on it with the gain set at about half and it pushes it fine. but thats just me bro. GL on ur system!

    Dual 12" L7's ?

yes id go with the l7's. i JUST bought the new 2011 style L7 15 (1) and put it in a 4.7CF ported box tuned to 37Hz on a kicker zx1500.1 and it WANGS low and hard. u can pick up l7 12's fairly cheap on ebay.com. i also recommend running kicker subs on a kicker amp. GL on the system

    which sub?

hello. well iv narrowed my choices down to the ones above. i will have them running on a kicker zx1500.1, 4 gauge wireing, in a ext. cab ranger i want a little of both ( SQ and SPL) i dont want to spend over 325 max.

    which sub?

I had a 18" fi btl. I loved it but in my current situation I wanted a brand new sub and the 15" fi btl was out of my price range.

    '94 ford ranger system

Iv had a few people ask for some pic's of my newest set-up. i finally decided to go with the 2009 15" kicker l7 in a 5.0 CF ported box and a kicker zx1500.1 so here are some pictures. enjoy!

    kicker l7 15

    The old ser-up 2011 15" kicker l7, 5CF ported box tuned to 33Hz, and 1 kicker zx1500.1

    which sub?

well guys, i must say i went with the 15" l7. i got it still under a warrenty for 6 more months with no box for 200. my local shop had a box that i could sware was built just for my truck. it is 49" long and about 10" deep and is PERFECT for my cab. its about 5.0CF ported and tuned to 33Hz and i picked that up for 50. so i spent 250 on a sub and box and it blurs my vision. if i didnt get the good deal on that sub and box, i would have went with the SA 15 but iv been around kicker since day one of car audio for me and i know what there all about. if u put ANY of there subs (except the cvt) in a huge ported box, they get loud and the sound quality isnt all that bad which really surprised me. Thanks for all the inputs guy's, i appreciate it

    15(s) in a Ranger

i have a '95 ext. cab ranger myself. i have had plenty of set-ups with 2 15's. i had 2 15" kicker l7's in a ported box, iv had 2 15" crunch ground pounders, also 3 12's in a sealed box befor. i just removed my 2 12" mtx 9500's the other day. if u take the jump seats out, u can get a total of around 52" for length, 17 depth, and id say around 30 for heith and those are the MAX spec's i myself have found.i am 6'2" and those are the maxes for the depth. hope it helps bro!!! Ford for the winnnnn ha P.S... if u plan on getting a big amp, i suggjest doing "the big 3" and adding a second bat. i have a kicker zx1500.1 (150 amp) and it would almost shut off my truck when turned up. i solved most of the problem by doing the big three and getting a wal-mart (yes i said wal-mart) big boat battery. there around $85 and cant go wrong. YOU DONT NEED TO SEPND $175 ON A OPTIMA!! DONT lol everyone says the optima is the only way to go. well its not. and i have proof.

    which sub?

I didn't suggest SA because your not going to get the most out your amp. Why only run your amp at half power instead of spending a little more money and getting a sub that will. A SSA Xcon is made in the USA vs China of the Sundown.(Not saying anything bad, some people its important. Sundown is very good quality.) If you think you'll be happy with the SA go for it. But videos on youtube doesn't really describe much on the sub. Flex videos mean hardly anything. I hope you know that. lol i have a 1965 302 mustang. made in usa is a BIGGG deal with me. but there comes the price. i dont have the cash to buy any made in usa sub. thats y chinas auto industry (mainly) took off. cheap and good gas mileage lol. if i had the cash to buy the xcon i would but its to much for me right now.

    which sub?

ok fellas, heres another curve ball for you.... the SA15 or the lethal injection 15????? they are the same power handleing and everything. what do u guys think?

I hope you know that. well power is an issue here. i had both my 9500's on my zx1500.1 at 2 ohms (1500@2 ohms) and it killed my alt. i want a sub that's no more than 1000rms at the most. thats y im think the sa 15 is the way to go here. i can run my amp at 4 ohms (750@4 ohms) and my electrical wont be killed and ill still have a nice sounding set-up. what do u think?
  19. SMpaintball78

    which sub?

well the two of them together was drawing WAY to much power. i even did the big 3, and added a second deep cycle battery and it was still killing it. they are great woofers and i suggjest them to anyone...... that is anyone who can afford them lol. pricy but i think there well worth the money. heres what happened. i had 1 of my 2 on craigslist ( i planned on keeping 1) and i was swamped with calls and text on the 1 i was selling. once i sold it, people were still lighting me up and i told them i was keeping one unless someone was willing to pay 300 for it ( i was asking for 250 for my 1st one) i didnt think anyone was going to pay that much but sure enough i just sold it ( about 20 mins ago lol) im going to buy a sub today and its looking like the sa 15 wins lol but im still not positive. iv never heard or even seen one in person
  20. well u sound like you know what your doing but do u have a inline fuse between ur alt. and battery up front? if so than i would check out what stefan said above "Sounds like the voltage regulator is bad. It shouldn't spike up to 16v"

    Upgrade from a W6

might i sugjest the mtx 9500. in my opinion, it has great SQW and gets really loud for 1 12.

    which sub?

yesterday, i got on youtube and looked up the sa 15 and actually it looks pretty impressive for the price. im soposed to be selling both my 9500's on friday so as long as he buys BOTH ill be getting the sa 15. i have alot of people wanting just one so idk....
  23. SMpaintball78

    which sub?

Actually for his amplifier setup, the SA15 would be an almost perfect match up... A Dual 2ohm subwoofer will have a 4ohm or 1ohm load in the end depending on wiring. His amplifier is not rated to run at 1ohm which would mean he can't do it and if he could that would be too much power for that subwoofer. If he runs the subwoofer at 4ohms the SA15 would see about 750w of power... My vote stays... so ur saying get the dual 2 ohm sa 15 and run it at 4 ohms????
  24. SMpaintball78

    which sub?

the xcon is about 75$ outta my price ranger bro. it does look like a good well built sub though. actually it looks alot like a fi btl.....
