Back To Basics (1974 Dodge Charger)
Brett_the_Vandal replied to Brett_the_Vandal's topic in Build Logs
Daily. At the time there happened to be a giant snow storm that trapped me in my house for like 3 days. Couldn't get to school to use the clamps and such to glue it together. But yeah. Other than the fact that it took rightfully longer than it should have. Its actually been completed for some time now. I just never took pics of it. Or really finished it. Its just in the car as it was when it got done gluing. Needs sanded and painted. I'm just too lazy to take it out and do it. lol. Damn me and my lazyness. Thanks for all the encouragement guys!! -
This is my new baby. I've only had it for about a month now. Its a 1974 Dodge Charger. My problem. It only has an AM radio. That a previous owner rudely cut the wires extremely short on. So I've set out to build my own small enclosure to put in an After market DIN receiver under my dash. Not wanting to harm the original hardware any of course. Many more pictures to come. Of all parts of install. Any of your guys' thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated!! thanks!!

The system was good. Not doggin on it. I just think it was ran poorly long before i got it. So when i bought it it was ready to go. and i treated it well. and traded for a ps3. lol. But on topic. I'll definitely look into DC. And i just spent the majority of my money on recone and goodies from FI. lol. Then i need to buy the amp. and the alt will fall in place as necessary.

Hi i'm starting a build, and I'm not sure if I'm going to need to upgrade my electrical system in my truck at all. I was hoping someone could tell me whether or not I should do so or not. I'm going to be installing an FI Q12" running probably an Audio Pipe 1500 in a box tuned to around 32~34 Hz. Installed in the back seat of a 1994 Ford Ranger with bone stock everything. Except a Clarion FZ409 Head unit. Which i'm still adjusting to. lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

I did a little research and found that my alt is stock with 95amps at idle i assume. and on another website it said that with 95amps idle it had like 130amps driving. Then i decided to look at some other cars. My old car was a taurus SHO which i know i could get an alt off of in the yard. it says its a 120amp alt on autozone. not sure what driving amps would be. But i had a puny system in that car and it dimmed the lights and probably screwed that amp. Eh. Kicker anyway. Not worth much. Gotta start somewhere. lol. So it makes me wonder if that alt was worth much.

Sweet. Thanks for the help!

Basically any car that would need a higher output alt cause of a lot of lights and such? long as it would match mine pretty close.

Wow. Youre attention to detail is quite alike to mine. I Cannot complete anything if it isn't as perfect as it could be. All my teachers tell me that all the time. lol. Very awesome built man! Cant wait to see it get finished up!! -
I just bought this sub cause its cheap. And i wanna know what it is now. lol. Google wont bring up any results for me. So I figured I'd post on here to see if you guys could help me. Its got a red basket, Black cone, on the magnet it reads: 12pc1757, dual 4 ohm. ist13bb Any help appreciated. Thanks!!
-
Lol. That link was awesome. Perfect for this sub. It had everything. Internal volume on a ported box is like 2 cubes. lmao. bigger an hell. Thanks guys!!
-
Paid 30 for it. figured why not. If all else fails. I got a buddy that does FI. He's an IA2000.1 put her in a box. violent blow maybe? lol. But hopefully box it and sell for a bit more. If i can get some specs on it.

Specs possible? That'd be great.

B-E-A-UTIFUL build!! I'm in love with that amp! Sad to see that I'm the last post. lol. Been tuned in for quite a while. Stoked to see the pay off vid man!!!! -
Okay. For starters i have very limited space. And enough money for either of these. And an amp to power it. Max dimensions i have are 30 wide, 17 deep, and 14 wide. I know that i can fit a sealed box for either of them in this space. But i'm torn between if the 12 sealed will be loud or not. I know sealed will be better sound quality. But i want good sound quality. And plenty of loud. Like. PLENTY loud. Basically i'm wondering if the 12 will be louder sealed than the 10 will be ported.
-
The calculator i used got me 3.1 blah blah. something like that. and its plenty. I'm probably gonna go with the ported 10. Just to make sure everything fits well.
-
Yeah. That is what i meant. Sorry. And that's great. I have a buddy who designed me a box for the 10 already. but i'm just wondering if the 12 will sound better and be just as loud as the 10. Or if the 10 will be remarkably louder. With less SQ.
-
The XMas on the FI is 8mm bigger than the icon. Problem? And most all of the other stats are remarkably different. like off by 5~9 each. Couple of them are close if not the same.
-
Okay. So I've got very limited trunk space. And a small-ish. Budget. I'm hoping for someone to help me with some sort of box design for an FI Q 10, in a ported box. Max dimensions being 30" Wide, 14" High, and 17" Deep. Already have an Amp picked out too that i'm gonna buy from a buddy for good.
-
Thanks! Will do.

I currently have a 1974 dodge charger. it only has one speaker in the front. And some crapily installed rear 6x9's I'll be fixing later. But for now. I'm doing an install of a center console I've built with an aftermarket head unit. Not wanting to cut anything up. I'm going to stick with the one front speaker for right now. Then build something to house 2 smaller speakers displaying the sound out the hole for the one that was there before. But for now. I"m sticking with the one. So is there any way to hook both the left and right front speaker outs up to this one speaker? And if so. Would it sound good like this? both sound from the right channel and left channel would come out evenly? or would this not work at all? Dont be afraid to give me any comments. lol. I need help with this.

Alrighty then. I know its been a while since I've updated. And its been a while since i've worked on this. lol. But i finally got the last 2 pieces (top and back) cut out last night. Then i took the whole thing to school today and glued it together. As my shop teacher has much better clamps and the size i needed. As those clamps are like 30 bucks apiece at Lowes. =/ Lame. So anyway. heres the pics. In order. Used Titebond III on all joints. And just glued them. No screws. Gonna fill any and all cracks/imperfections. Sand it all perfect. Then paint it flat black. All in due time of course. lol.
