  1. Keep in mind that, according to Dell's webiste, your computer uses registered ECC PC2100 DDR memory, so you probably can't just throw any memory in there.

    Firefox and Opera

I decided I would try going back to 9.25 stable and man ... 9.5 is just so much better ... When they get this finalized, it will definitely be the best browser around ... Maxthon has grown on me somewhat in recent months as well, although I still like Opera better ...

T2300 @ 1.66 GHz - 512 MB RAM I'll be looking to upgrade it sometime. I don't understand how it really works, but I'd just like to spend a little bit of cash and have some components replaced/added to make it a little faster/more up to date. The battery life is a weak two hours which is unfortunate. From what I can remember, it has always ran a little warm. The T2300 will run a little on the warm side and, IIRC, your laptop also has a dedicated graphics card, which will suck some juice and create heat (Can't avoid it unless you go w/ completely useless integrated graphics).DDR2 memory is dirt cheap now, so it would be a good time to invest in a memory upgrade. You can pick up 1 GB sticks of PC2-5300 from NCIX for $15/stick and 2 GB sticks for $40/stick. It should give you a nice performance increase, especially when multi-tasking. You can get 2 x 1 GB or 1 x 2 GB (+ 512 MB that's already in it for 2.5 GB), either way you're looking at less than $60 after shipping and taxes. There's no point in getting more than 2.5 GB w/ XP as you won't notice the difference going w/ more than that. http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...mp;promoid=1087 http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...mp;promoid=1087 As for battery life, I can't remember exactly what you have, but IIRC, it's a 17" laptop. 2 hours is pretty normal for a 17" laptop. You can pick up a high-capacity battery for about $200 that will give you 50% more battery life. Edit: I searched and found your laptop - http://www.toshiba.ca/web/product.grp?lg=e...rt=4512#spectop

    Welcome to the IHoP

I hate Sony so much. I ordered a set of recovery discs for a Sony VAIO laptop 6 weeks ago and they said it would take 4-6 weeks to get them to me. They phoned me up this morning to tell me that the recovery discs have been discontinued and that I'd need to send the laptop in to have the hard drive re-imaged. So, not only is this going to cost a boatload of money, it's also going to take another 6-8 weeks according to Sony. What a joke ...

    514 KB/s ... not bad ... My typical download speeds are in the area of 1.5 - 2 MB/s, though ...

    Welcome to the IHoP

Got about 20 cm of snow here today (8"). I had to drive home in my car; suffice to say I was spinning my tires the entire way home ... I couldn't even get traction in 4th gear at 30 km/h, LOL. My friends and I had a snowball fight out on the streets tonight ... good fun. I walked home a little tipsy, but lots of people were out having fun. A bunch of people were sledding behind a truck and just so happened to slide through a stop sign right in front of a cop, LOL.

    Welcome to the IHoP

It snowed here for the first time this winter yesterday, so I decided to take the old car out for a spin to test out the new tires. The new tires made a HUGE difference in traction as I would normally spin in the snow unless I started in 3rd and you could absolutely forget about starting on a hill w/ the old tires in the snow. The new tires, the only time I could spin them was when I wanted to.

    New Computer!

My first computer was an AMD K7 Thunderbird 1.2 GHz CPU (OCed to 1.4 GHz) w/ 512 MB of RAM and a GeForce2 MX (OCed to 250/220). I was in Grade 11 at the time.

Looks like I'm going to be able to pick up: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controll...p;modelid=10368 for $100 from work and this: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controll...#ModelDetailAct for $225 from work. Both BNIB w/ full factory warranties (3 years on projector/1 year onsite on the printer). It's going to be a holly-jolly Christmas for me

    Firefox and Opera

You won't regret it ...It has much better network resource management than 9.24 ... Unlike 9.24 and other browsers (Firefox, Internet Explorer), I can be downloading via torrents and/or newsgroups and not have it significantly affect the speed of the browser (the speed of the downloads drops for a second while loading the webpage, but that makes no difference on a 5 GB download). Along w/ the other things I mentioned last night, they've also improved Bittorrent and IRC support as well as the integrated mail functions (though I haven't really used them since upgrading to 9.5, so I don't know how well they work.) In addition, it looks like they've really concentrated a lot on compatibility. None of the websites I regularly visit have issues w/ 9.5 (whereas there were a few w/ 9.24 where I had to mask as IE) and all of them display properly (wasn't really an issue w/ 9.24, but was w/ older versions of Opera).

    Welcome to the IHoP

I want to say me, but I have a feeling this is not going to be fun ... I would not have asked who the math guy was if I had seen your name at the bottom of the screen! It is pretty simple, I am just not sure which answer is correct. 2(sin3tcosx - sinxcos3t) + 2(sin3tcosx + sinxcos3t) = ? The -sinxcos3t and +sinxcos3t cancel from what I can see ... so I am left with either 4sin6tcos2x or 4sin3tcosx ... I think. Normally I just have to plug stuff into SPSS and it does the work for me It's been a long time since I took a math class. 4sin3tcosx I'm slightly intoxicated, but that's what I got as well.

    Firefox and Opera

The new Opera beta is fvcking incredible ... I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and it makes every other browser look slow as molasses by comparison. The new history search is freaking fantastic and syncing your bookmarks, speed dial, etc. through MyOpera rocks for when I visit my GF.If you haven't tried Opera 9.5 yet, I HIGHLY suggest you do so.

    Welcome to the IHoP

This week has renewed my hatred of Windows 98 ... For whatever reason, I've had like 6 Windows 98 computers come into the shop this week and all of them have been a complete pain in the ass ... I can't even count the number of Fatal Exception errors and Windows Protection errors and other various blue screens and black screens of death I've encountered in the last 3 days ... How the hell people managed to get anything done on that POS operating system, I'll never know ... When I suggested to one person that they should get a new computer because their hard drive has 4000+ bad sectors on it, they replied, "I don't want to do that. I haven't heard very good things about Windows Vista." I just shook my head.

Work is going pretty well for me now; I'm up over 300% compared to what they were doing last year at the same time and the boss man said that if I keep it up, he'll double my pay This may work out pretty well after all ...
