Cool, I did search and also I didn't ask how to pronounce it. But what I did get from your post is that a few pages in one of those threads was how Fi names their subs after things in their lives. Like the BL means buzz lightyear. I would of never known, but in this thread im asking why did they choose Fi, out of the inFinitely? And is inFinitely what Fi stands for?

At the top of the page under Fi it says inFinitely amazing. But why choose Fi out of that word? And Im also wonder about the reason for the subs names, bl btl, sp4 like chainsaw said.

Yes I know its Fi, not FI. I just realized that when I walked away from the computer because it auto corrects to FI. And this is why im wondering because others are curious too.

That is great power wise, enclosure size you are wishing 3^ft/each correct? Yes, lol, A small cube of speakers would be weird. Im shooting for 14cubes before displacement.

Oh to sum up my lost post. Im 17, I wanted a car audio job. I went to local car audio shop seeking advice. I then volunteered to work to learn more about car audio and get school volunteer hours. I did this to get my foot in the door since one of his employees was moving away. I became good friends with everyone at the shop. They all liked me. Then the guy moved away. He had a job opening. Some one else got it, (it was the owners cousin or something) but this is because he got laid off. But I didnt stop. I still helped out because I needed to hours. Im setting up car audio shows with my audio team Team NWSPL for this year. Im bring them in customers and im gettiing %10 of the sale from the people I bring in. There business isnt doing to well right now because of that damn car toys a few blocks down. But this summer when his cousin leaves he told me we will do an internship because he knows Im a good installer/build/salesperson and a friend. This is how im getting a job their. But my dad owns his own business and my family has alot more money than most kids my age and if my dad will hire me for more $$ then obviously im going to do that. But I like car audio more. So we will see in about 2 months, and im pretty much guaranteed the job. There, thats my summary, my first post that was lost was about 4 paragraphs long explaining everything. I left out a bunch of stuff, but this is what you have to do.

Im so pumped for these subs, Im buying 4 Fcon 15s when they come out. Ill be running a DD M3a at .5 or 1 ohm, Its putting out about 2500 rms right now, is that too much for these? Im sure they can take it. And also, if you know a recommend ported box size for them please tell me, im hopeing for 3 cubes So I can fit them in my honda!

Thanks guys, as for the meter I had the music blasting and it didnt pick anything up and as soon as my woofers started moving it picked it up, it is a sound pressure meter not just a DB meter. And yes I might lose some dbs on the term lab but If i get the most dbs out of the other meter then Ill know for sure what I have when I get on the TL. And you can see my build log for my box, I never got around to finishing the build log, sorry, Ill do that this weekend. I just got Knukoncepts wire from my buddy for the big 3 for almost freee, but im getting welding cable at my audio shop to run to my amp. When I did meter it was me and my buddy in my car so that would effect it. I just need to test and test like you guys said.

Ok so I 2 FI Q 15s powered by a DD M3a at 2 ohms. I have 1 run of 4 gauge, and stock electrical. The box is 8 cubes at 33hz and is walled in my car but not completely sealed off yet. I only had 20 mins with the TL so I only tested 2 songs and I got a 148.2 at the dash sealed with Lil Jon Throw it up. I just ordered new battery terminals today and My buddy is sending me 11ft of 0 gauge so I can do the big 3. Then I will sound deaden my 2 front doors and whatever I have left over I will sound deaden the floor of the car. After that I will seal off my trunk from the cabin (which is behind the box) but I wont have all the trim panels to go around the box to make it even more sealed off, for a while. Once that is complete I will do 1 run of 0 gauge to my amp and drop the load to .5 ohms. Wil this get me the 1.8 DB's I need to break 150? and And what are you ideas on how to get over 150? Please don't turn this into some kind of hate fest, just give me some answers so I and others will see how to gain a couple DB's Thank you.

Shizz just saying its pointless was a little rude. But whatever he gave some good advice. And as for 0 Gauge im just going to wait a week until I have $60 and get Knu 0 gauge, because my buddy sent me 11ft of knu 0 and its nice stuff. And I dont think ill sound deaden. Thank you!

I was using one just as good as the Term Lab, I forget what its called but its not some $30 thing. It was at my car audio shop and they use it for testing comp systems. Ill be using that one until I get on the Term Lab on April 18th at Audio Northwest in Lacey Washington. Its a car audio comp we are setting up. Its going to be IASCA. And yes I know my subs need to be changed. I originally had 1 FI Q 15 in a sealed box in my trunk, then I got a second one and wanted to go ported. I plan on selling them the start of this summer and getting BLs or BTLs. And GodSmack I was surprised also. I never got my build log finished but its done now and alot of threaded rod bracing and its surprisingly loud and still sounds just as good as it did in my sealed box.

Well shizzzon thats great, good opinion but if its negative keep it to yourself because this thread was very use full to me so its NOT pointless. And YoJO, based on what you said I wont get sound deadening, because other just say test and wiring so I got what I needed to know. So thank all you guys for being help full. Except for shizzzon, im not a hard core competitor but Id like my system be over the 150 mark, and it sounds clean and clear. If I wanted a straight SPL car I would made it all for SPL and had a different amp, different subs, different box, but its my daily driver so I wanted it tuned to 33hz and I love it. And for Julian if your refering to my amp and wire being used its not, I got the amp from my buddy who bought it new and used it for a week then bought the next biggest amp DD makes so Its basically new and he had 11ft of extra 0 gauge so he gave it to me.

I would but Im out of money now, I got $800 from plowing driveways with my quad about a week ago when we got this big snow storm, So I got the new amp amp, 0 gauge for big 3 and battery terminals. Do you think I can find 20ft of 0 gauge for about $30?

Like Stefan said little things like adjusting your seat can change your score. You could probably get there without much more money if you had some more time to play around with things. Ok, that sounds good enough for me. Ill seal off my trunk and do the big 3 and go back to the audio shop to do more testing. Being over 150 is pretty good I think.

I tried at the dash with passenger window up and down, and at the passenger kick with passenger door open and closed, 148.2 was the highest but I only had 20 mins at the local audio shop sooo more time would be helpfull. But say that spot at the dash sealed was the best I could get, then what should I do to gain the other 2 DB's

Thanks for you input. Will the sound deadening help? Because I don't want to spend $200 if it wont help. I don't have that bad of rattles because I put foam in everything, just my sunglasses up in the headliner

I know this post is old but I would like to say this is the post that started my car audio journey, I have 2 fi 15 Qs walled and I just got a DD M3a and I got 148.2 at the dash sealed. My buddy just sent me 0 gauge wire today and I will be doing the big 3 very soon to keep my voltage steady, so I can drop down to .5 ohm. Im also getting sound deadener to deaden my doors and floor to possibly increase some spl. I only had time to test 2 songs and thats the score I got on Throw it up. With a little more tweaking and few more additions I hope to break 150. So thank you for this review you made!
