I assumed thats what the car was. What processor are you running? 2 3sixty.2's Sweet! I can't wait to hear what you think of the 3sixty.2's. They look very capable, I would love the eq alone . I have a stupid question though, Does the center signal work with music too or just DVDs with 5.1? I see where your at, I just got back from Carlsbad. I took the kids to the caverns for spring break. WAAAAAY warmer down there. i like em. lol honestly the xrossover is what i end up messing with the most. im not sure if the center works with stereo music or not but hopefully the answer is yes

well fuck (ur right) but im not 100% sure if the center automatically moves me to super mod. the door pods sure as hell do thou yup. not much man just trying to finish up the car. next on the list is ground from the front to the back... 2 runs of fosgate 1/0. the plan was today but forgot its easter so probably not till next week. thanks for the compliments man i still did work today i ripped out the seats, pulled off the door panels, and ripped out the center counsel with the e-brake...Just to run the speaker wire for my comps under the carpet, and to run the rca's up the center of the car. Just got to get some speaker mounts since i have the basic system, and dont want to cut the speakers out nice. just remember the stock batt power wire is halfway ran down the middle on the drivers side

    EmpJJ center channel

im not 100% sure yet. i cant fully play it together so but the main goal was to be able to play and possibly in the future compete in 5.1 dts... i don't quite know how the kenwood is going to do the center but im assuming it will still play with stereo music and if it does the 1" fosgate tweeter is going to be a big help

    EmpJJ center channel

Thanks guys!. ya it was a pain to take out the dash but i had a write up to follow so it wasnt that bad. i have before, the reason for the center channel is ive always wanted to have 5.1 and I've always wanted to go to the usaci sq finals and compete in the dts surround sound class. I dont know if ill ever be able to do that but im one step closer to 5.1 already
  8. as compared to apply and test yes but i doubt u would loose as compared to no product whatsoever but I'm for as quiet as possible so for SQ

    deadening a sealed off truck?

I seen that trick around here and will be doing the expanding foam in can. I am planing on about 6" thick, should be good and hold my rear deck solid nicely too. Correct. If you are using expanding foam I wouldn't bother with sound deadening in the trunk. I think its all going to depend on how "sealed" you make it... on mine its removable so no expanding foam around the box but i did use foam, fiberglass, and second skin seal the quarter panels, rear deck (no more 6X9s) and c pillars. So if you think u can get it 100% sealed then it might be ok. but from the experience I've had i would say spend the 100 bucks and dampen the trunk anyway

    Second Skin trunk pack size

if its damp pro then its 20sq ft.... Im pretty sure the reason for the confusion is damp and damp pro "packs" used to be different amounts now damp isnt offered in a "pack" but just whatever sq ft it is since damp has always been offered in even amounts

why is "SQL" looked down upon, so much?

maybe im missing the point because im just skimming over you guys fighting but isn't the original point of the thread that all these acronyms everyone is making up completely bunk? You are right in the actual definition of sound quality but at the same point you understand what people mean when they say it. Ultimately no one really knows what the artist actually ment by the music without being there when it was recorded. Even live cant be 100% since its different from the recording but keep on fighting because deep down i can tell this thread is going to be monumental and completely change how everyone says and does things from now on.... so continue

why is "SQL" looked down upon, so much?

More verbal diarrhea Stop it. An RTA can't do jack shit for SQ and IMO aren't even useful for setting up your system. Amusing since through work I have access to one of the best ones in the world, but no interest in "using" it to tune my cars FR. lol... just as i had the rare oportunity to use an rta, Im on the fence about the rta. Flat was much different then i was expecting I think it helped me in some ways but i sorta see where your coming from. Mind if i ask your option of "flat" vs what sounds good to you? For me flat made me loose a good amount of midbass (lol i have a peak at 100hz like no other) and to be flat all the way to 20k was way way way too much tweeter then i like. Before i started the 10 16 and 20k weren't even measuring on the rta at all and while i did agree i needed a little more its just a little much for my preference Flat NEVER makes sense. For a rudimentary understanding of why Google "Equal Loudness Contours" or do some reading on the works of Fletcher and Munson. Do realize that these curves are based on averages and that every human is completely different and will have a different response. Now if you add personal preferences to it, you can see how little use the RTA is in tuning. I will say there is one logical use for a spectrum analyzer and that is for finding anomalies that your ears might miss. I always do this in narrow band though which isn't really an RTA, but an FFT analyzer at that point. Simulation with tighter 1/nth octaves would be okay, but not as easy to come up with a solution. And yes I realize that our ears here in 1/3 octaves approximately but tuning with more resolution when it is to reduce particular anomalies I have found beneficial. cool... that really makes alot of sense. but it also sorta means im fucked... I mean i honestly have no idea what im doing sq wise in my car. i've just purchased the best sounding equipment i could play with and the only sort of tuning ive done is playing with the crossover slopes. I haven't really even touched the EQ before. Its not the best sounding car ive herd but it sounds pretty damn good IMO. Ive just been looking to take it a step further if i can

why is "SQL" looked down upon, so much?

lol i can not only imagine it but ive been there. drove a few hours to some comp that was supposed to be something important. come to find out it was judged by the crowd clapping turns out a prefab double 12 sealed box with 2 MTX 5500 in a vw bug beats: 1 DD 9518 in a silverado, 2 SX 15 in a malibu, 2 XXX 15 in a cobalt, 1 MT 15 in a accent hatchback and 1 MT 12 in a civic (there were a few other random cars too) little did we know that mexican music > rap or tones and the bug went last

    dynomat xtreme or second skin

dynamat extreme and the regular damplifier are somewhat comparable. i think the foil on the second skin is thicker but overall they are similar. Damplifier Pro is obviously thicker then damplifier and dynamat extreme so it is a much better product BUT if you are looking at price you would want to compare the dynamat extreme with damlifier 1 Sheet - 2 sq. feet x $7.51 10 sq. feet x $29.98 20 sq. feet x $55.98 40 sq. feet x $98.98 80 sq. feet x $193.98 160 sq. feet x $359.98

why is "SQL" looked down upon, so much?

Getting sort of off topic.....but no, running a 2-way active front stage + subwoofer is a 3-way active system. A 3-way active front stage + subwoofer is a 4-way active system. Majority of people are already running their substage "active" by using the amplifier's or headunit's onboard amplifiers for the crossover. So when I was having this same argument and including the sub in my setup and claiming to have a three-way active system everyone on this forum was like no you dont have one, dont include the sub stage. Why was that? (not arguing just looking for some clarification). **I do understand how people are using there subwoofers with there headunits and amps to make it active and all that stuff. I cant remember when the thread was made but Ill search for it. Because subwoofers are generally a mono source. Your front stage uses a stereo source. 3-way + sub is accurate. It's all a part of the same system. just to throw this in there... someone could very well have 3 active drivers in the front channel 2 active drivers in the rear and an active mono what would that be called 6 way active? same reason you cant call a coax speaker with broken tweeters in the doors and a set of random tweeters added into the mix a component set. technically it would be a component set but no one would agree to call it that because it doesnt make sense

from what we have done walled setups that are insanely loud bring more people in the door. but it seems the ones with only single 12s have sold more product.

    Enclosure Spray!!

i think the spray looks way better but thats just me... not like he is doing a cut thru or anything like that just cosmetics (im assuming)
  19. Will do, gonna tear it out this weekend and ship it out on Monday. I talked to the repair center and he said they have a 1 week turn around on average...... we'll see. Other than this its been an awesome HU, more features than I can even use, this is the first problem I've had..... albeit a big problem, but all Excelon units have a 2 year warranty so I should be good to go. what ever happened with this?

    Enclosure Spray!!

second skin spectrum + spray gun looks good too. If you get the spray can bedliner its not going to do what ur looking for. closest thing would be a gallon of dupicolor bedliner but it flakes so

    sealing off the trunk

heres a friendly reminder of what the subs/box looked like when i first put it in over a year ago(i never found a reason to take an updated pic considering nothing ever changed) I yanked the subs to spray some spectrum in the box. mainly to make sure the subs are sealed a little better and because ive had the spectrum sitting forever so might as well do something with it. I sprayed just under a gallon in both chambers. Made some cardboard lip extensions. the goal here was to be able to attach the the fabric to the lip and stretch it into the box holes... We were unsure if this was gonna work well but it was the best idea/shot we had. Starting the fabric/resin as you can tell it worked. We were afraid the resin would eat up any adhesive we used on the fabric and just completely fall apart. before we left the shop it was gelling up pretty well without any issues so it should be fine/dry in the morning
