  1. So in the next month i will be starting a new box build. I am kind of good at this stuff but always look for others advice. So the new build will be for 2 Fi sp4 18" fully loaded subs. 1 Crescendo Audio bc5500d and 3 xs power xp3000 batts. Still have to find some one that makes an upgraded alt for my car(2004 Hyundai Elantra gt HB) that does not cost an arm and a leg. I will be removing the back seat building a large box and then walling around it the box size is going to be 48"w x 36"h x 30"d. Will be 1.5in thick with at 2.5in front plate. From what i came up with(been a while since i made a box) was a box that will have 15.98 cuft after porting.

The port is 7in tall and 18.5in deep with a 7.5in drop should be tuned around 32hz give or take a little(if any one wants to double check fill free)

Should be a fun build looking to see what other people think about it.

  2. So i have come down to getting  1.  One Sundown audio z-4 18 $609.00 2.  One SSA Zcon 18 $542.00 one of those going to remove the back seats build the box as port forward and sub up and seal all the way around it making the back seat area my batt rack and amp rack to keep the weight centered.

  3. Would take some modding to add air ride to our cars but i have found a kit for them made for our car but its like 2500 bucks. Think i am going to swap out for some stronger truck springs and a better set of gas shocks. Just because the amount of weight i will be adding to the rear of the car.

  4. As for the car breaking it is the last thing i care about it has 170k miles on it and just gets driven to my work(replaced it with fr-s for daily) the rear end of my car has so much foam in it that it should help with the bulb breaking and like i said removing the back seat is no problem they never get used any ways. Oh and my rear windshield wiper is gone any ways friends broke it off being dumb.  And the car kind of does need to be destroyed been threw a lot with that car bought it brand new off the lot and had so many problems with it that all i want to use it for now is an audio car but finding parts for it is kind of hard.

  5. The system gets really low, I was surprised at how low it hits with no troubles at all. And if any one asks i have a reinforced windshield because of all the rocks on the roads around here so its about 1/4 to 1/2 in thicker and coated for impacts from anything that might chip it. (we put it to the test and a buddy threw a 5/8 in socket at it thank god it held up)

  6. Fyi my AC is already out in my car, it died last summer and cost way to much to have fixed i can live with out ac i work out side all day long any ways. As to your question about the car Notorious that is up top and the 4 Sundown 8s would be swapping to the newer v2's they are a little better then the 4 v1's i have. I will choose my amp when i pick my sub set up and space is large enough that i can fit 1 18 in a large ported box or any of the other set ups. I have 4 8's in a 6 cube box now plus i can remove the back seats if need be. Nadcicle the largest alt. for our car was the 90 amp that my car has now so keeping that for the factory systems and adding a sec one just sounds like fun to tell you the truth.  Oh forgot to add in the system i am aiming for is to break what ever i can in my car so i want it to get low.

  7. So i am starting a new build soon over my old Sundown audio sa8 v 1.75s (4 of them). So i am looking for some peoples input on my new
system. The subs i am looking to change out for are

    1.  One Sundown audio z-4 18 $609.00

    2.  One SSA Zcon 18 $542.00

    3.  One SSA evil 18 $799.00

    4.  Four Sundown audio Sa-8's v.2 $740.00

    5.  Two  Sundown audio X-15's $778.00

Just wondering what everyone thinks. Three of them are single 18's, so wondering if that is better then the 2 15's and the 4 8's.

The car is a 2004 hyundai elantra gt HB ( my old build log)

Still have a few issues with the car, like trying to find a high output alt. Dc is the only one i have found and $700 is a little too much for me so i think i am going to remove my ac pump(Ac went out at the start of the summer) and make a bracket for a 300am alt. from mec-man and just have 2( the factory one for the car and a larger one for the batts). Not sure how to work the 2 Alts. like that but i can figure it out. Let me know what you guys think.

Re: Added prices from ssa store.

  8. At last the other 2 subs are here and in, i will add pics when i take some and a vid. Had to rewire them because my cars electric system could not handle the .5 ohm load(yet). So all 4 are sitting at 2ohm for now.

  9. Been a little bit since i put an update up. I ordered my other 2 subs and they should be here today fedex says around 12ish. Once they get here all i have to do is cut out the sub holes, attach the bottom of the box, finish my little bit of bracing left and do all the wires to the box.

  10. And a few more little things.

    IMAG0263.jpg

Stripped my old system out. All the trim panels and all so now its just kind of hanging around until i drop the new system in.

Got board and textured the ports just because i could.

  11. Small update. Been working on a few things at once first the new box is starting to come together. I laid it out put the top and all sides on. Going to cut the holes for my 2 ports and the 4 subs some time today.

    how i made the ports.

Any one take a guess what that is and where it went.

  12. Ya its sketch up. Works really well takes some time to get used too but after you get the hang of it, its not too hard. Any ways i did a little bit more finished the Fat mat on the floors not much to see there and ran some up the pillars. Re-ran my Rca's and my remote turn on down the center of the car. Also found something i forgot i had in my car the pioneer I-pod control thing for the dvd 3100. So i pulled it out and freed up a little space in my dash.

    IMAG0230.jpg

The run of rca's 2 pairs.

    The pioneer unit.

    IMAG0235.jpg

    IMAG0236.jpg

And all the front trim is back in just have to put my seat's back in up front. I am leaving the rear seats out until my new box is built and in.

  13. It does not seem like the old fat mat every one was talking about, there's no smell it sticks really well and rolled out very easy. Its also some heavy stuff out of the 4 rolls i have(each roll is 50sft) they weigh in around 25 pounds each.

  14. So here's a new update on this system i have changed my mind a few times and went back and forth on what i wanted to do. So i am now doing 4 sa8 dual 4's in a new box i have been working on.

    newbox.png

There will be some plexi and a few other little things i plan on doing to it.

As for an amp i believe i am going with the hifonics colossus. Going to wire each pair to 1 ohm and run them off both channels.

On another note i spent the weekend doing a few things to the car.

    IMAG0229.jpg

    IMAG0228.jpg

    IMAG0227.jpg

That's my 2 year old helping me roll out the fat mat.

Next step will be picking up some truck bed liner and doing the out side of my roof and putting some cld tiles on the inside of it.

  15. Ok so like always i can't make up my mind. I wanted the 4 in a row Top mounted box with the front facing center square port. But the box size would not look right with a small port.

So in good old fashion i changed my mind and made a new build. Just looking for a little input on the box and if my math is right.

The box is 22"deep 40"wide 19"high Its all 3/4 mdf (besides the cross in-between the subs that's 1/2 and acting as bracing) The port is 5"wide and 17.5"high and should be around 61.25" long if i did that right.

    transline.png

Here's the box and what it should look like. This is a bottom view so you can see the sub cut-outs and such.

    Tuning.png

This is what i used to tune and all that good stuff.

  16. All the calculators i use have always done me right but its always been for slot ports never a center square port. 90% of the box's i have built were all simple box's never done any of the huge multi sub box's. But i would still like to find out what my port size would need to be for 4 Sa8 dual 4s on 2 hifonic's 1200.1(1 am per 2 subs).

  17. So does any one have any idea on port area for this box and what it would need to be to tune it. The box is maxed out at 39 wide but it can be about 18 deep and 17 high. I am good at building and tuning slot port boxes but i have never done a square port box.
