    SP4 Caught On Fire!!!!

i thought the subsonic filter is filtering the output section, am i wrong? ive seen fi subs hooked to wall sockets for 7 minutes before they smoked on youtube i didnt think brz had it in em 2 do that kind of output without blowing up this thread makes me wanna get a colossus 3200 watts bridged and try 2 burp a 10k watt square wave too bad the colossus is banned if he sends the sub in and fi says it was factory error.... glazed donut shipped 44123 please, thanks Not the filtering he was talking about. There is filtering on the output terminals of the amplifiers to remove noise and other unwanted signal impurities created in the amplifier during operation. Can not compare hooking up a sub to a wall socket either. It could only be getting a couple hundred watts from the wall socket.

    subwoofer decisions !!!!!!

Its funny how you can comment on subs you haven't used and have only "seen used in big builds". Havoc = I was not very impressed by the driver, had good output but didn't wow me in any way. LMS-r = Great driver if you want to go sealed, didn't impress me in ported applications. Axis = Haven't used it but I have a LA Storm neo and it is a good driver surprisingly loud on low power, so if the AXIS is like the storm it should be a good driver but not for the price tag. ZVX = Haven't used and wont after the experience with the VVX DP = Haven't used, isn't my style of sub but have used IA products and one of theirs is one of my favorites. ICON = Good output low end is great. GCON = like the older ICON specs are very close, good output with good low end. What's funny is, the subs I use, you can't buy unless I sell them to someone. Or you build some yourself. Oh and it wasn't just "seen in big builds" God forbid I don't post up everything I do. But carry on since you're an expert in every driver ever made. Sign of being butt hurt. Trying to act high and mighty. Posting experiences, not acting high and mighty or butt hurt. Not upset about your woofers as they have no value to the discussion, but you somehow felt the need to bring up that you use woofers that are put together from miscellaneous parts. I have noted where the variant came into the situation, but it still doesn't change my feeling that the Axis isn't worth the 400+ dollar price tag.

Never claimed to be an expert but I have personally used and still have most of the drivers you listed or a variant of them. The VVX was the worst one. Don't get all butt hurt and then try to act high and mighty because you use franken woofers that you think are so special.

Stop looking at the vvx's. You should look at the GCON's too. Why not? They're good subs for the price. Or he could go gcon's and wait two to three months. Having used the VVX's they are not good at all, also have used a GCON and it is a ton better then the VVX.
  12. My meter does not read RMS. I am measuring a/c voltage then doing the math. Am I still doing this right? No, your meter does read RMS and you are calculating from an already RMS voltage.

    GMC Canyon Extended cab

I've been around, been pretty busy with work so I've been lurking. Right now they are stock, I have some AA carbon fiber mids and Seas neo textiles to use but its a little cold to try and fiberglass. Its great, its really really close to the old ICON which is great.

    GMC Canyon Extended cab

Just a little build log of what I have done so far, with crappy cell phone pictures. The Truck Making holes to run the wire. Installed grommets for two runs of 1/0, one positive and one negative. Mocked up false floor. Wrapped up and wired up distro blocks. Wired up the stereo Wired up and mounted the amp. finished as it sits now. Still have some ideas to remount the amp/amps. When it gets warmer out Ill be laying down some fiberglass for kickpods and working on mounting tweeters somewhere.

    I love your products but...

Still not as bad as all the DIYMA, ROE, CrApCO emails.
  17. They don't have a recone kit for the SEX's. He needs to take measurements, gap, basket, coil, etc to get a proper recone kit. That is assuming that they can do one with the new baskets.
  18. Why would he do that when he has an RE-SEX? Best thing to do would be to get dimensions and get them to a company to make you a recone.
  19. Pretty bad reason because the GCONs pole vent is plugged.
  20. NB50

    what could be the problem?

The wire down the middle of the RCAs isn't meant to be a ground wire. Some kits include them for use of the amplifier remote turn on wire.

    BL or Q

Please do explain why tuning to 25hz in a car is a waste? I tune most of my daily driver boxes in the upper twenties and my clients are all very pleased. JL Audio even tunes some of their factory enclosures to 25hz. Some people actually want to listen to music with their subwoofers... There isn't much music that goes below 30hz.
  22. Its either a BL or a dual slug BTL, might have it written on the coil if you can see it through one of the holes.
