  1. Thinking of getting 2 sets of Diamond Audio's s600s (6.5" comp with the silk tweet). How is the mid bass and how well does this set take that 170rms rating? Looking to keep up with 2-BTL12s. One set in the doors and the other in the kicks. Both pairs of woofers would be sealed in its own glassed enclosure just big enough to fit the woofer.

  2. lol, thanks for the BTLs, Thump. Just picked them up from UPS today and they look good. Not hurt @ all. Nice doing business with ya. Lol, let me know what your going to do with your Colossus amps.

  3. Im not going to say either is better than the other but for the price, Powermaster is. A XS D3100 is about the same price as a HC2400 and u get more power from the XS. Im also going to be running Powermasters. A 280alt with a XS D1200 and 2 XS D3100s. A T40001BD and a T5002 or T3002.

  4. hmm don't know about output but with only 38sq port area you probally get a lot of port noise. with the bigger port you will not have port noise and will probally be slightly louder.

General rule of thumb is that you only need half the port area if you use aero ports.

hmm for real? i talked to pete (hexibase) about an enclosure for my atlas 15 in which i only planned to use 29sq port area and he told me that i would probally have port noise. so if im gonna get port noise with only one atlas and can gurantee he will get port noise with 2 12inch btls with only 38sq port area.

yea but pete was probably talking about if u use half the area with a slot. Not aero. I noticed that most people who are using aeros dont have as much port area as a person with slots. Even when Meade had a old install with 4-18" REs he used 6-4" flared aeros and it was still tuned low.

  5. You may run into issues with the port if you are planning on one port against one side of the box. A 26.5" port length puts the port 2.75" from the back wall. If you leave it 8" from the back wall, it calculates to be a 30" port length, but in my experience, it seems like when they are that wide it does not always work out exact so you may be ok.

If you put the port in the middle and ran it in so it is 4-5" from the back wall, it would work better. . .

And better yet, you really do not need that much port area. 6.5" wide is plenty for 5 ft^3, so you could redesign with less port area making the port length shorter. Take width off the overall box to keep the depth for the port.

Yea thats what I meant, port in the middle using the top/bottom/back wall of the enclosure. And really the enclosure is way bigger than 5ft3 but after port/sub/bracing and resin it brings me down to 5ft3 and 100sq" of port shared which is 2.5ft3 and 50sq" or port per sub. They say the more port the better which is why Im going with 15sq" of port per cubif foot of enclosure versus your 12sq". Thats why its 8" wide. I understand slots very well but Im not really use to dealing with aeros which is why I wanted to try it but I cant get a straight answer from anyone so Im just saying "F" it and go for what I know that works and works damn good.

  6. Ok if I were to do a slot what about this. 14"H x 38"W x 30"D (double baffle) after displacement 6.8ft3. port 12.5"H x 8"W x 26.5"L which will tune me to 32Hz and bring me to a net volume of 5ft3 shared..................sound better?

  7. I have 2 loaded btl 12s that Im going to be running a T4k on. I want to use aero ports but the only way that I can get enough port area is to go a bigger than the recommended 2.5ft3. I may have to go with something like 2.7-2.9ft3.....is this ok for daily usage? Or will it hurt the woofer? I see on the Fi site that u shouldnt go any higher than 3ft3. Id be below that but they say 2.5ft3 on this site?

  8. Just bought 2 of the old version BTL 12s loaded with the 3rd mag and everything. But Im trying to save space for more room for my batteries and amps. My amps are going to consist of a T40001BD and a T5002. Im going to do a semi blowthrough in the trunk of my Thunderbird in which the back seats do not fold down but Im going to cut out the rear armrest and use it to help let bass escape into the cabin. I wanted my enclosure to be subs and ports forward sealed off from the trunk. I'll have about 8" between the back of the seat and the front of the enclosure. My deminsions will be (double baffled) 15"H x 38.25"W x 23"D. After sub displacement, bracing, and 45 degree corners (resined corners) adding 0.575ft3 puts me at about 5.38ft3/gross....If I use (3) 4" aeros and make them each 17.5" long then that will tune me to 31-32Hz and given me a net volume of right @ 5ft3/net. My question is do u think this is right for daily usage and that amount of power going to a BTL? this is just going to be a loud ass groundpounder and absolutly no farting/burp what so ever.

  9. yeah man i should of measured my trunk before i bought it i guess imma try to sell it...that sucks i only get to look at the sub havent even heard it yet ha

u can still use it but sub up is the only way ur going to get it in there, even if u angle the baffle...its still going to be too much of an angle on the enclosure and then u'll be running into problems with the build because the magnet on the sub will be hitting the floor of the enclosure and probably wont fit. Subs up/port back is the chit in a suv or hatchback but its a maybe in a trunk?

  10. that will give u about 2.5" between the sub and trunk lid which is still too close in my opinion but u have to have a lil gave inside the enclosure between the motor and back wall for the sub to breathe. really like I said Id sell and do 12s. Really for that car even 15s are too big due to the height. Dont get me wrong Ive seen people get them in there but I know their parameters were nowhere near right. they were either sealed or tuned like a flute (some bs).

  11. I also have a 87' cutty myself and actually u dont even have 19" of trunk height. G-Body trunks are built very short but wide. And yes, with a sub bigger than a 12" in a G-Body ur going to have to do subs up/port back or port up. Really Id sell that 18 and get 2-12s. Then u could go subs and port back. Really u shouldnt go any higher than 14" of enclosure height in that car and thats if ur doing 12s and subs back like I said. If u do use your 18 then Id suggest u do subs up/port back and make your enclosure height about 12.5" and as wide as u can get it....which is about 58-60" before u run into the trunk supports on the side. Trust me I have that same vehicle and I know it inside and out.

  12. Might work out ok. What are the box dimensions?

What amp(s) do you have? Three 15's might work out better, or maybe four 12's?

2nd that to the 3-15s....actually 2-18s has more cone area than 4-12s but given the enclosure volume I think the 3-15s or 4-12s would be much happier in those parameters. Id say 3-BL 15s in a fairly large enclosure would be louder than 2-BTL 18s in a small enclosure given the same power due to more surface area. And it wouldnt be that big of a difference in price too.

  13. Read my signature.. they are D1's and i maybe had them running for a month.. but im not sure i want to sell them.. i really want to distruct the crap out of them beings Fi treated me poorly

Actually I did read ur sig and it told me nothing about the subs except the brand and size. D1s are what Im looking for and if they are "fully" loaded then let me know if u do decided to sell. Would be willing to buy if the price is right. PM me when your ready.

  14. :eek5wavey:

what would the best option i was realy set on the clam shell i like having the subs face me Like a wall

    Let me know thans

well just do a wall then. Cause I really dont see u fitting 4 18s in the "proper" enclosure and still have room to do a back port. 4, 15s yea. Really Id do 2-18s or either 4-15s in there and say f%ck that spare tire.

  15. nice....anybody who has fully loaded btl12s who are ready to upgrade to the new version....holla @ me. Willing to take them off ur hands if the price is right. Sorry for thread jacking Steve, but the opportunity was there so I just had to. Now! Im like one of the guys on your site..."throw those b@tches in the civic" and do a vid and roll that beautiful bean footage. Anybody who wants to see these things in action now and cant wait for the other 2 say.....Do that sh#t, Steve!
