    My mistake

As most of you know I unloaded my xcons below tuning and did some damage. Only one had visible damage and I corrected that with some devcon epoxy. Now that they are both back in and playing my wife and I both agree that they have lost output. Is this possible? Could I have done enough non visible damage to the soft parts that they would lose noticeable output? I assumed they might be a little sloppy now from stressing the spiders, but to lose output? Thanks in advance.

Booooo lol The SSA Store sells recone kits for those subs. It's really easy to do and faster than shipping it back to the build house. http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com/products/xcon-recone-service-kit.html Ive considered it, but I have zero experience with it and frankly, am not going to learn on my xcons. My fosgates? sure. xcons? noooo

    funny car audio pictures?

/thread cant get any funnier than that...
  12. There are plenty of reasons for an amp not to be 1ohm stable. have you noticed how bad efficiency drops as you go down in ohm load? That's just one reason of many....

    Best X-over frequency?

Just my personal opinion on the gains. I would definatly go louder with the radio and back off on the gains. Just for the reason you will not be stressing your amp NEAR as much. As it is now, you are showing it very little voltage and asking it to amplify it greatly. As to turning your deck up would allow it to send closer to rated voltage, therefore, you can turn your gains way down and your equipment should last longer and sound better. if your deck goes to 45 I would set gains with volume at around 30 that way the deck isn't clipping but is sending good voltage to amp.
  14. Those holders are known to get hot enough to melt. For the few bucks it would cost to replace, its a no brainer before you lose your entire car/system to fire...

  24. As most of you know I am running 2 XCON 15s. The other day I let my player go into a sweep of 20-60hz, obviously way below my tuning. My amps do have a set ssf at 28hz. However, my subs bottomed out like crazy for a couple seconds(stopped before I could run to deck to turn down). Now I am having issues with one of the subs. When I say issues its very confusing. I don't seem to have lost any output, BUT when I watch the subs play its almost as if they are "out of phase" with each other. The left sub is BARELY moving at low volumes and even at higher volumes on steady tones. On some songs it seems to move just as much as the other, but on most songs AND tones it is barely moving. and again, when it does move it doesn't match the other sub. I turned them up this morning and listened for any distress in them and in the left one I can hear the faintest sound. At first I thought it was an interior panel rattling but im pretty sure its the sub. What could I have done? is it a loose lead? is that why it doesn't seem to "move" like the other sub? why do I have at least what seems like, the same output as before? Im begging for advice from ANYONE, I have NO idea what I could have done and the unloading the other day is the only thing I can think of that might have damaged them. For what its worth I have pressed on both subs and they both feel ok no rubbing or anything like that. PLEASE help.
