Best shallow subs for my truck
PistolPete94 replied to SMpaintball78's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Fosgate P3 shallow mounts are great also. Everyone has given you some awesome choices. Id go with the alpines, sundowns, or fosgates. But to be honest doin and all new front stage would be a great idea so when you go big you dont have to go any bigger with your front stage -
You still selling those zcons? Im looking for an upgrade

Well the day before i ordered my ICON my buddy from my local audio shop just said "happy belated birthday" and gave me a rockford fosgate p3.lol and now we are in the process of building a custom box for it. Once i get a new a car ill get two ICON 12's or two Sundown Zv3 12's and a crescendo or sundown amp. Any ideas to do with this P3 12 in a custom box while i have it?

Ive been looking at subs for a week and im trying to get the best sounding sub for the money so ive narrowed it down to the SKAR VVX-12 and the Sundown SA-12. I want some hard hitting bass but also great sound quality, durability and reliability. These subs seem to be exactly the same and ive heard that Jacob from sundown designed both of them?? What are their differences if there are any? they both seem to be of great quality

You can do better than skar, I did SSA subs. I want SSA subs so bad!! I hopin for a single ICON 12" Order it and it will come. I dont have the money yet.. I could buy it if i didnt have to pay for shipping

The guys at SKAR haven't even replies to my emails and it's been a week and half.. That's awesome that you got four vvx's and he said just send me the money when you can but honestly I don't wanna risk it

Its not a challenge to get "nothing special" subs loud, its all install man. And just because you have lets say, a 160db system, doesn't mean you will be listening at that levels on you're way to wal-mart. Also, I can't whip up any ideas as to what you can fit or not as I haven't seen any measurements, but I'm sure it shouldn't be too difficult to fit a single 12" in there Its a prefab box so really its not that special at all. I for sure wont be blasting 150+ db on the drive to walmart, id probably get pulled over and ticketed for excessive bass and having by far the best sound system in the town lol I got a foot and half wide by a foot and a half long (can be a little bit longer 2ft) and can be a foot and half tall. You think itd fit no problem and be good size box?

I'd really like to see your in depth review on the icon! I know their cone area is more but just saying the guy with two 15s is running kicker comps..nothin special. I'm willing to spend good money on quality subs but I also don't wanna go deaf and piss my parents off if you know what I mean lol and I kind of have limited space since I drive an extended cab Nissan frontier

I love the gcon and ive come to love the incriminator lethal injection. the only thing im havin problems with are shipping costs. im trying not to blow the bank on the subs cause im making a custom ported box and buying a amp. Anybody like the lethal injections? i know the gcons are very solid as well as the sundown SA-12. Plus with the sundown i get free shipping.. sadly i dont have the power for the FI. I want a good starting point for upgrading from one level on my system to another you know? like i just wanna take it a step at a time and get everything exactly how i want it. Im an extremely competitive person so im always tempted to get the loudest and best. But im thinking the hardest hitting while still keeping SQ. so a good SPL and SQ mix. I have friends with 2 kicker 15's or 12's and some guys with JL's and some guys with RF's i wanna blow them out of the water while still keeping the sound quality high. SSA, Sundown, and Incriminator all have what i want but i just want some opinions on these. so far everyone has screamed SSA so right now they are at the top but what about the incriminator LI and the sundown SA?
-
Ohh ok I gotcha, hope y'all are safe in the hurricane I should be ordering a sub from y'all very soon! It's the shipping cost that's keeping me from ordering at the moment
-
Well I mean I'll base it off of specs a bit more but since I dont live where I could see and hear them I dont know which one to pick.. I'm gonna go with an FI SSD or SSA GCON
-
Thats what i was thinking, either way ill be paying about the same thing cause of shipping. it just depends on which one i guess.
-
ive also thought about incriminator lethal injections but i cant find ANYTHING on them...
-
Your on the SSA forum so most people are going to tell you gcon. Not that it isnt a good choice, IMO id go sundown, Google that. I run 2 sa 12s and I love them. Not to mention ive never came across anything negative about any of there problems. You can get them cheap to. I would DEFINATLEY consider some FI SSD's or some Ascendant audio subs i actualy have considered FI SSD's cause of the RMS they can take at the price that they are, ive even thought about DC level 2's. Im mainly looking to sound great and have some hard hitting bass, not just high spl numbers. The SA-12s do look extremely solid but so do the gcons. I want a durable great sounding sub. I havent found many reviews on an FI SSD 12 though... Id like to find some reviews on them before i consider them. i know Ascendants are great! but they arent very cheap.... and at the momment i dont have much more than 200 bucks to spend on 1 12in sub. I have figured my best bet for great sound and performance would come from the hand made in America such as Fi's or SSA's. so ive ben thinking seriously about getting the Gcon but i dont know much about its durablity cause of how new they are... and all the reviews i find are of the 15's or like 4+ gcons. not just one...
-
Picking subs is hard man.. lol there are only a couple of subs that can even rival the Gcon. but i mean you cant beat handmade when ordered and its made in 'MERICA!!
-
alright i didnt know ive just see some videos of SSA guys in FL. i know skar is out of Tampa. so SSA i is lol
-
with a slant box it could be 1ft 8in tall
-
Get some exact measurements of height, width, and depth in inches. You don't want to guess wrong and end up with not enough room. the measurements are 1ft 5in wide by a 1 1/2 ft long and can be 1 1/2ft tall
-
Its 37 bucks... cause its heavy. I can pay for that but ill probably have to make my own box. whats a good design for one gcon 12? I have a single cab truck so its gotta be able to fit behind one of the seats. and why take the SKAR out of the equation? Do some "googling" of skar and the owner kevin, and make your own decision. Before you make your purchase get some dimensions so we can help you come up with a design, and see what sub will work the best for you. wow... i see. umm i guess itll be sundown or ssa.lol i want the woofer facing upwards (towards the ceiling) i have an area of about 2ft wide 2 1/2ft long...

Ive thought about it and ive sent an email asking about pricing on shipping but they havent gotten back to me on it... SSA is based out of Florida isnt it? and i live in Alabama so it shouldnt be that bad.
