wow,i dont like this format at all....oh well, it doesnt matter what i say
me neither. will take some getting used to. i like the black chrome version at least. besides the quote thing being same color as the backround lol
also pics wouldnt show in the default skin. the screenshot of this skin in the first post didnt show either. i switched to this skin and the pic showed up.

since net volume plays a role in the frequency, it'll just calculate the port with the total net volume of the box. sub displacement will change the net volume slightly which will in turn change the net volume. i have never used the ssa port calculator, so i would either guess it takes out a set amount for sub displacement automatically, or just has zero in for sub displacement which i think is more likely

i used stinger RCAs with no problem. it's when i tried to strap them where i get my issues, but that's a story for another day. then i bought some cheapo RCAs and they also worked fine. now i'm using some RCAs that i made myself. all with the same results. the stinger RCAs i used were older tho. like 4+ years old so i'm not sure if something may have changed with their wires since then or not

Hey, I'm Gonna Let You In On A Secret. Even Though You Don't Have To With That Q, There Is Something Called "Gaining Down".You Don't Have To Run Full Power Just Because It Can.
pretty much exactly the same thing i was going to say
i dont think that has the bp because mine had thicker tinsel leads on it but maybe thats just something they did to the newer onessomeone correct me if i'm wrong...but i dont think that has anything to do with the bp option. i saw a pic of a nightshades open motor with one on it, and it's a piece of aluminum that covers the vent.

ah damn! it was late and i totally missed that grrrr lol. ok here's the fixed one
and port area range i put in cuz i was tired of figuring what port area with different net volumes. so i put that in there. so a box with a net volume of 5.64 cubic feet should have *about* 68-90 sq inches of port (based on 12-16 sq inches per foot). more of a general guide so you dont have to figure it out each time

imo you'll be much happier. with the same power and same box, it's hard to tell how much of a difference you'll see as the box is the major role of the install. however i have a similar setup as far as airspace and tuning goes (tho i have double airspace since i have 2 subs) but i get all giddy every time i turn it up i say go for it. i dont think you'll be disappointedLOL ok I'll see if I like it better maybe I'll build a box for it I've built 5 boxes so far so I know what I'm doing what would you think is optimal what cubic feet and tuning?
4 cubes, 65 sq inches of port, and tuned to 35 hz. you'll be a happy camper. now...as far as sub and port directions, that's up to you as i dont have much experience with trunk cars. i've had the luxury of building in an suv the last few years

i'm glad this got pinned lol. if only everyone would abide by these rules...

oh and make sure you're sending a nice clean signal to the sub. doubling the RMS, you dont have the widest margin for error
0 -
yes it will. that'll add the airspace you need. or come very close to it. as long as the port area is around 65 sq inches, i think you'll be good

sounds a tad small. but you *may* be able to get away with it. mine is 8 net cubes after all displacement (4 per sub which is the recommended minimum airspace), 130 sq inches of port tuned to 35-36 hz
how much port area does the box have?

the night shade should deff take 3k daily it's a better sub than the omegano more than 2000 rms for every day use...you can easily burp at 3000,but i wouldnt reccomend every day use....
oh yeah? i have a 3500D on each of my 18's at .5 ohms...and they're doing just fine and i dont baby them often
hey so guys do you think the nightshade will handle 3000 k daily from my sundown amp I need to know cause I'm about to buy it from somebodywith a properly built box...yes.

damn! i didnt even think about checking over here if anyone was gonna be up there. maybe for a centerville/fairfield show? i think it's fairfield...wherever that audio advantage location is.

they're rated at 1500 watts rms, so they dont need more power to perform properly. 1500 on each will be just fine.
with that said...i have a 3500D on each of mine at .5 ohms. no problems yet. i still need to tune em better (o scope is being silly)...but be careful if you do that

i was out on sunday. left my camera home too i was PISSED lol. took a couple iphone pics of a race car the had on the other side of the field. the comp was pretty fun...but the site slamology site was misleading. said that qualifications for bassrace ended sunday at 12. so i get there...and they said the qualifications ended on saturday?? i dno...but the judge still let me run which was cool

port area? or port area range? my port area stayed the same. the port area range changes since the net volume changes since the port isnt physically as long. that leaves a tad extra in the net volume. and 'port area range' is determined by net volume (about 11 or 12-16 inches per cubic foot). which is just used to help get an idea for the surface area of the port. but thanks for checking

if doing the big 3, do everything in 1/0 at least. bigger is ok, but not really necessary. when i did mine, i did the grounds right to the chassis for a nice clean connection

oh yeah?? i may just do that. i've only taken one semester of VB. i forget which language i'm taking this fall semester. i'm gonna work on a load/save option, which i havent learned in class. right now i can save one box, and it opens that one box into all the others. so i'm workin around with it
and thanks

bump for the corrections click the latest link tho...until i can edit my original post that is

bump for the slot port correction - thanks bromo fixed that lil error. should be accurate now. you can check if you'd like it's late here...so hopefully i didnt overlook something.
also added a check box that you can check if there are bends in the port. since bends do not require the port to physically be as long, this will yield a slightly larger net volume, which will change tuning. so i made it a check box instead of entering in the bends. if my math was right...you can have 4 or 5 bends without changing anything, which i dont see many boxes having that many bends as that would be a low ass tuned box.
everything should be good to go now
EDIT: oh yeah i guess i should post the new link, eh? lol

yeah, finding out when shows are around here is very hard. a lot for the fact that they dont even know when they'll be lol. i dont think they have a set schedule, they just kinda go a couple weeks in advance. so i wanna start calling every so often to check. they're usually on sundays tho at least.
oh and lol howdy neighbor
