OH SHAT SUNDOWNS DOIN IT AGAIN

Looks Interesting!!! I'll be waiting for updates...
2. On the FI BTL 15" Fully Loaded, but for Daily/Music, Specs state 3cu to 5 cu tuned to I don't remember like 35hz... Whatever it is... This will be powered by a SAZ-2000D... Lets assume I have the electrial system to back it up... How much difference will I see between a 3 cu enclosure and a 5cu??? Not sure if it matters, but I am wanting to do Sub and vent facing up, vent furtherest to the rear.. I wish I could hear it both ways... Well I guess I could, but I don't want to spend the money on two enclosures...

Closed Friday !

Welp have a good SAFE Happy New Years!!! I'm getting ready (in about an hour) to head next to to a good friends house... Every year for the last 10+ years, about 10-12 of us sometimes a few more have all got together at my friend Tom's crib, everyone brings a little (or a lot) of assorted liquor and foods... I get good'n smashed, then stumble next door and crash in my own bed... BTW, Wearing my Sundown Shirt to the Party!!!!
4. Whats the major diff between a 15" FI BTL and a 15" Ascendant Audio Mayhem? Features and Nitche market.... I mean, I thought I read that the same guys designed and build both.... Both look pretty sweet... I would not mind owning either... Just real quick as I'm at work, was crusing the net on break but the biggest difference I saw besides cosmetics was the Mayhem has Silver 8AWG Push terminals 2500W RMS vs the BTL Did not see anything about the terminals listed on the site for the BTLs 2000w RMA Looking at all the Parameters most of the specs seem pretty close... within a digt or two... I'm sure there are others, but thats all I saw in the time I had.... Just curious as I love to learn about cool products...
5. Sliding glass Window maybe for adjustable tuning.... Plastic bag, Beta testing a new Aperiodic Membrane <SP> type material???? What makes me chuckle about this whole thing is the use of the word retarded... Over the weekend my daughter and I were bickering as it seems her school, friends, the media, or someone other than her mother or I have sensitised her to teh usage of the word "Gay" as it may offend someone of this persuasion.... However, its OK, to say Retarded??? I guess they would not know to be offended... LOL, I'll say either, if the thought pops into mind... I'm an equal oppertunity offender...
6. +1 You beat me to it....

why is "SQL" looked down upon, so much?

I've been guilty of this too I guess... I assumed (yes I know what happens when you assume) from reading some posts that when you mix SPL and SQ, you get ""SQL""...Which is really where I like my systems to be... A Mix of really nice sounding music (that gets really loud) and a sh!t ton of low end to go with it... When I go to a ""High End" Stereo shop be it home or Car Audio and they demo their systems I like where they are going but they just don't seem to have anough bass... When I mention I want more Bass, they say, Sounds like you want an SPL system... Aaarrggghhh!!!!!!! Maybe we should have another official term... I've heard the term ""Street Beats" thrown around abit too... Would this be more accurate??? I say we purpose several new names or terms, vote, ratifiy it, then stamp it... Done... New term Coined!!! No more b!tchin...

Now Playing!

NP: Disturbed - Down with the Sickness and a few of their other tracks... I dig this song... I know its oldnews, but I recently stumbled onto it when my 14 year old daughter and I were watching an old movie - Queen of the Damned... Also, opens up some new stuff for me as I normally listen to mostly Rap/Hip-hop, and a bit of R&B, pop and Jazz....

My "finished" Ht On A Budget

Yea 6K is a bit more than a splurge for me to at one time... Now piece by piece, I could surly see 6-10K on a home theater... A tad more if you throw in any work to the walls or much furniture... I've been parting together a small but hopefully decent HT over the last few years .. I've got Samsung 42" LCD Samsung DVD Player (waiting on the cost of Blueray discs to drop before I upgrade to BR) Yamaha RX-V3800 Receiver (have not even had the time to hook it up) Sony SRT-D1015 Receiver in use now, till I get the Yamy goin 2 Old Xboxes (networked, upstairs and down) and a WII Sony HiFi VHS (still use it every great once in awhile for some old skool Martial Arts Flicks... Crappy old sckool techniques Front Speakers Polk RTi A3s for Rears Polk CSi A4 Sub is a old Kicker 12" Kicker Comp-4 in a prefabed 1.5 cu box powered by a Parts Express 500 watt plate amp, subs is out of wifes old car... LOL... Would love to upgrade the fronts to Polk RIi A9s and not sure on the sub, maybe something from Elemental Designs.. Either way, it needs an upgrade bad. Also love to rip out teh walls in the basement (atleast a few) do some insulation/sound deadening and get ride of this old ass Panneling that looks like it could be from ""That 70's Show"...
11. To run from my alt to my Sub amps, the guy said I could get away with it, if I put in a special fuse.... I am So just kidding, don't shoot.... Not even ure how I came up with that as I was typing... lol... But, Seriously on the speaker wire, think 12 ga would be decent enough to run from the amp (100.4) to the cross overs to the mid/tweet sets(Polk MM6501s)??? I was getting ready to oder some power wire and I was like, Ohhh, I need some speaker wire too.... Thinking about just buying a spool of 12 ga Stinger from Darvex... I would like to oder it all from one place if I can... If I have any left over, which I'm sure I would, I'll just keep it around for a future install or something... I'd rather have 10+ feet too much than 2 feet to little and I'd rather have home runs, with no splices...
12. Using the Forums search button: No results found for 'AA'. No results found for 'FI'. I had better luck going to google and searching for Ascendant Audio Mayhem I this link.... http://www.soundsolu...udio-mayhem-18/ Summary It said, (not my words) For those of you who dont know the mayhem is, its the exact same thing as a fully loaded BTL with the new forced heli cool motor design (which I think you can now get on the BTL) It just just seems strange why a company would produce two lines that are "exact same thing"... Seems like a duplication of effort... Can't be easy to market a brand and build a name to get folks to spend money on it... Not a big deal, but it would be cool to get a comment from FI or that sells them... **edit** I don't know why, I've never seen it before, but googling I found a link on here to a Subforum for AA... http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/index.php?/forum/64-ascendant-audio/

2010 PLANS AND GOALS?

Goals for 2010 (not real lofty) Small but decent system put in my 2005 Trail Blazer for daily use(already have most, just finishng up some details and getting a few more things) Finish Building my my newest AR-15 to the collection (will be #3 A couple more parts and it'll be ready to test fire) Want to paydown or off my Biggest Credit Card and stop using credit so much... It gets so easy, where you just order ish and before you know it, your 5-10k in the hole I plan to slowly work on aquiring stuff to redo the system in my 2000 Blazer... It will be more for show/fun, a groundpounder maybe? I want it loud as Fock, but still plenty of SQ.... Music, not tones.... Spend more time @ the gym less infront of the PC or TV...

My "finished" Ht On A Budget

Sweet setup, looks really nice....
15. Certainly was different than any other shop that I have been too... This place mostly works on Vetts, Range Rovers, BMWs, Benz, etc... Everything Soldered and HeatShrinked, no Crimps or scotch locks in the place... All wires put in a braided loom type sheathing, no wires visable except as they come out of the amps... They absolutly hate passive Crossovers, really pushed active systems... They sell Zapco, Audisan <SP> and Hertz.. etc... Holy Crap those Hertz sounded good.... Started at about 400. a pair and up too 3K a pair... Tad over my budget... By Far!!! Some of their Zapco and Audison gear, was all programable via USB port... Each of the benches had RTAs and a bunch of other decent testing tools... Shoud have seen the install work these guys do... These guys guys were not installers but artists... They had a dedicated wood shop just for wait for it.............. Wood... and a steel fab shop, with racks of steel stock that they make all their amp rack frames out of, plasma cutters, sheet steel for fabing up brackets, adapters and mounts, each install bay has a set of shelves where all the parts of your vehicle go and all the screws and crap get bagged and tagged... The cleanliness and organization of the work areas was really nice too see... Whole tour took almost an hour, maybe a bit longer... As we were talking about what I was wanting to do, He asked what kind of amps I was planning on using in my sytem and I showed him my Sundowns, Not Impressed he wasn't.... He was like, what kind of Sub, are you running that needs an amp like that??? Must be really inefficient... You could tell these guys really paid attention to detail, to the N-th degree, but no offense to them (not their fault) but I really felt like I was out of my range, by several notches.... I woulda really like to have them put an alarm on my ride, but I just cannot afford their rates... Quote for just an alarm was 800.00
16. So I'm slowly putting together a small system for my 2005 TrailBlazer, No SPL Comps, just want something thats really loud and sound really good... Would be nice if it threw up some impressive numbers... What I have in hand or on the way already: 2 - sets of Polk Audio MM6501s (got them last week) 1 - SAX-100.4D (just ordered it today) Should be here by Monday, maybe Sooner... No hurry though, need more stuff... 1 - SAZ-2000D (Had it for a few months for the Blazer, was gonna order 3 more for its redo, but I got the TrailBlazer, so I'm doing it 1st, then back to the Blazer) 3 Sets of Scoche RCA (Per Jacobs recomendation) Buncha wire and connecters and such.... Things to get: Sub, hmmm, I have not decided for sure... I was thinking about the 1 - FI BTL 15" Fully Loaded as they say, or maybe I should say Mostly Loaded, as I want the Daily Coil, not SPL as this is for music... I'm guessing about 2.5-3 cu feet @ what 35-36hz whatever it takes.... May consider back down from a 15 to a 12, to save on Encl Will consider other subs though... Headunit, I think I have it narrowed down to the Pioneer-AVH-P4100DVD (add ons, Ipod adapter and HD Tuner) Alarm, I guess Viper 5901 Responder LC3, Hoping to again try and go look at this this weekend, depending on what the wife and kid have me doing... Last weekend it was shopping and Basketball and Volleyball Games... Sheesh... So to the meat of the question; with the two amps listed above (1 drawing a max of about 200 or so amps and the other about 90 or so) I figured right off the bat, I'd do ""The Big 3" and 2 runs of 0/1 to the back and an exta Batt.... But what Batt to get???? I don't plan on parking and booming for more than a few minutes at a time and I'll mostly have the engine running, not like I used to do at Car shows... Size of the Batt is important for this as I do not want to use up the whole cargo area and I'm already looking at a decent size box, if I go with that 15" FI listed above... Sorry to make the above post so long winded, but I figured if I did not provide as many details as possible, thats what the 1st 3 or 4 replies would be asking for... Hopefully, it'll be a nice little system...

spl general question

Had to Subscribe to this to watch the fireworks.... For the record, I understood him clearly... Jay-cee, I think you are very helpful or normally try to be, but sometimes you come off like your a bit uptight or maybe wound a bit to tight... Not sure if thats the exact way to put it....
18. So if I do something like the above, what should the finished product be covered in??? Not sure of the color of my interior, it looks Grey to me, but I read somewhere that it was a Ebony Cashmiere or some ish like that... Again, looks like a shade of Grey to me... Here is a pic of my Hatch area... I think you can click on it for bigger pic... I hate Image Bam.... One of these days I'm just gonna spring for my own domain and someweb space... Anyway, Back to the covering of the box / Amp rack...

Running Active with a 100.4

Just curious, whats the purpose of going Active, vs passive??? Just because you can? Is there more/Accurate controll? More power to said drivers? Something else I had not thought of....

Question on the FI BTL 15 Enclosure size???

Forgive my ignorance, as I'm less than a Newb when it comes to figuring out port specs... So when you say make the port length 30-32", you mean the value where I currently have it set to 8 giving me 24.5??? So I change it from 8 to 14 and now I get 30.5??? If so sweet... I try to do some more final measuements in the truck to make sure soon as I get get out there durring daylight... I work alot and travel around St. Louis Missouri and Illinois alot... Never now where I'll be and when...

Question on the FI BTL 15 Enclosure size???

Ok using RE Box calc I think this will fit, I'll have to measure one more time... But assuming it does... Hows this look for the 15" BTL??? Box Width 32 Box Height 25 Box Top Depth 15 Box Bottom Depth 15 wood thickness .75 Square port Width 3 < ---- This gonna be a big enough area??? Square port length 2 8" Square port area is 70.5 Box vol is 4.592 (sub takes up .21) = 4.382 cu after sub displacement tuned freq is 36.27~ I think I'd like the tuning a tad lower, but will I really be able to tell? This is for music... Rap, Jazz, R&B, Some rock, Alternitive, techno... etc... Thoughts? Or would I be better off stepping back down to the 12" BTL?
24. Its been so long since I had a decent system and I feel like I never get anywhere... Its like I keep saving up and stockpiling parts, but shit keeps happening that I have to spend money elsewhere... I feel like I just plan plan plan, and beat a dead horse sometimes... But I want to make sure everything come out good... Even a small basic system can rack up a cost and load of time, if your doing it yourself... Also, once I get something in, I'm never satisfied... uhhh... OK, done venting..
