  1. So, been out of Car Audio for a bit, been wanting to put another small system in, every time something seems to come up..  So I'm trying again...

    Vehicle: 2005 Chevy Trail Blazer

So far I have the following...

    Pioneer Head unit,

Polk Separates in all 4 doors.

    Parts I have acquired:

Sundown 2000D (these Sundowns are are few years old But BNIB) (Needs 200 Amp Ext Fuse)

    Sundown 125.4 (fuse 30x2)

15" FI BTL (Same with the FI Sub, BNIB)

I would like to figure out what all exactly I need to do get and do so the two Amps have plenty of power. No Blinking lights, or any power problems...

    I was thinking,

Update front  Batt (not sure what)

Mechman Alt (not sure which one)

    Big 3

Two Fused Runs of 0/1 to rear

1 or More Batts (the less room the better) (Was thinking an XS d6500)

Some kinda Distro/Buss Bar setup to connect the two amps...

I don't really see adding more amps or devices to this system for the foreseeable future

I can wire stuff up, but I have Zero box building skills, so unless someone has other recommendations, I'm thinking about a Pre-made Fatboxusa Box...

    http://www.fatboxusa...losure-box.html

I know most folks here frown on pre-made Enclosures, but I'm not looking at doing car shows, comps or to show off, I just want a fairly banging system, without going in 20K....

In a year or so, when I get a lot more credit cards paid off, I'd like to re-do a much bigger system in a secondary vehicle...

  2. march 2011... Feb maybe?

Volume 25, Issue No.03 March 2011 - got it right here in hand....

looks good. a bit much for me, but to each their own. Sundown and Fi FTW!

Eh, its a show truck, not a daily beater... Gotta do something to make it stand out from the other eleventy billion rides... Something that gets and keeps the judges attention... Especially in the Mini-truck brackets as there are so many to compete against...

Very clean truck!!! Have allways wanted to bag an S10 PU/Blazer. :fing34: to the owner of this ride!!

Same here... I've got a 2000 S-10 Blazer thats been sitting in my Garage for a few years now... I started off going pretty strong, paint job, some custom bodywork/things shaved, ghost flames, some interior work, minor system, droped, 20"s....Won the crap outta shows for about 3 years straight, but never got around to bagging it... I still have most of the bag parts in Boxes, either in my basement or my parents garage... Didn't loose interest as much as it became a lessor of a priority with work, getting married and taking my daughter everywhere... I don't really have the time or money to dump into it...

I thought about selling it, but I just can't bring myself to do it....

  3. March 2011 issue, P54,55

    There is a 2nd Gen S10, that has a 15" FI BL powered by a Sundown SAZ-1200 and a 125.2 for the mid/tweets....

Might be a repost, but I think its great to to see some of the cooler brands like this finally getting some play in the Magazines, not just companies that buy full page adds in every magazine they see on the stands.....

  4. Ok being I just open a shop a few months ago. A this time I don't carry Sundown but I do run all Sundown in my car. The only reason I'm not carring Sundown is The buy-in. Its not that its high But at the same time We are a small shop and can't have a bunch of equiment sitting on a shelf. People around here never heard of Sundown and people seem to want what every one else has. I can sell the SA's For the same price as a Kicker CVR but every one want the CVR's becaused there friend has one. Sundown will be in my shop soon but its going to have to wait until after we move to a better location in Sept.

Sounds like someone needs to do a build that REALLY gets peoples attention and shows what Sundown can do... Coupe of nice displays in the shop will help too...

Props on owning a shop, big or small... I've awlays wanted to own one, but I'll freely admidt, I don't have the install skillz...

  5. To the OP, this is the main reason that 98% of what I buy comes from someplace online... Be it direct from the manufacture or whatever.... I've been into Car Audio longer than some of you have been driving and I've bought stuff from the local joints 6-7 times vs the hundreds I've bought online...

Same goes for my Firearms, the gunshops only sell items they make the highest margin on....

But, to be Devils advocate, What is any business in business for??? To make profit, pay the shops rent, bills, their/their employees salary, etc... They gotta do what they think they gotta do to Survive...

Sucks as I'd rather buy everything local...

  6. I know sundown recommends a fuse 8 inches before their amp.. I was told once before 150A is just fine... Im running the knukonceptz 1/0 KLMX cable (250a).. I started talkin about this to some other people off the internet and they keep tryin to tell me its way too much lol.. i think their full of it cause they also tell me 1/0 is overkill for any system lol. just want some clarification on this, thank you. Amp will be mounted maybe 1.5 ft from back battery and wired directly to it with a fuse.

    I myself would use 1/0

Here is a link you may find useful...

American wire gauge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also, when it come to this and most projects I'd rather have a bit of overkill than to be lacking...

  7. Damn it makes me want to upgrade so bad, looking good Jacob. I like the extra work you do and show everything and how it makes the new different from the old instead of just saying it is a difference like most companies.

    100% Agree!!!!

Also agree with the Amp Sexiness Inside and Out!!!

  8. awesome.

kind of sucks for the people who just bought the SAZ-2000D shrug.gif

Why ? Still a good amp and still under warranty. I don't see any issue.

NO issues with Sunbdown per say, its with us broke f0ckers buying them smile.gif and who plan on having say 4-6 SAZ-2000Ds, bought say 2 and were saving too buy 4+ more....

They now have three choices, buy some used/refurbed ones, buy mis matched ones (say 2 2000Ds 2-4 2500Ds) or start all over with same of new model....

Again not Sundowns fault... You have to do what right for Sundown, keep up with the customer demands and stay competitive (with offerings and price points)...

We shoulda got on the stick and bought them sooner... Every manufacture changes lines now and then...

It would have been nice to have more of a heads up that the 2000D was going E.O.S. and a potential date, so people would know to get'em while the gettings good... I probably would not have been able to buy the rest anyway and it may have been posted and I just did not see it...

Thats the way it goes... I will continue to look to Sundown as a prefered vendor of Amps and maybe subs...

  9. Below, I only listed brands that I have owned, installed or helped a friend install and been around quite a bit..

Also the Brands are listed in no order and are Brands I would buy again myself or recomend to a friend...

Sprayfoam from Home Depot or lowes

I each catagory there are a few brands I'd love to try sometime, but thats what I have atleast some exp with and would use again...

  10. Just Bought A PTRS-41 Anti-Tank Rifle, I Feel Ya On The "Other" Hobby.

Holy crap... So where do you find the 14.5mm rounds for that thing???

What are they about 4.50 - 6.00 a round??? I thought i had ammo worries....

Not many ranges around here would let you shoot that as it would eat up the target backings and berm behind them...

    I'm thinking Knob Creek...

With a box Mag, not belt fed I'm guessing it was really designed for Sniping Tanks and other hardend targets? vs spraying cover and suppressive fire...

thanks for the pics, but did you really have to tease me with those guns i mean cumonn, i cud never in a million years get an m16 here in australia,,,

Thats my other expensive Hobby.... I spend way more on it than Car Audio.... I belong to a Gun Club soon to be two and I try to shoot atleast twice a month... I'd love to go 2-3 times a week... This summer I want to start shooting in comps like IDPA, IPSC, Steel Plates or maybe Three Gun Comp....

If anyone else has/collects guns, Start a Thread and post'em if ya gottem... I know what Pic Whores, we are around here..... Including myself.. smile.gif

  12. I think that we need pictures!!!!!

    153fe165760435.gif

These will have to make do as I Shot them with my 12 year old Digital Cam and I know I'm not a Photographer by any means...

  13. I think that we need pictures!!!!!

Pics of it in the Shipping box??? Its not installed by any means yet....

BTW, the basket on this thing is bigger than I expected... I'd hate to see the 18" bigger brother...

My mom said the UPS guy was none to happy haulin it up their Driveway today... Its like 300+ feet, slight incline...

  14. What the hell does this thing weight???

If I had to guess I guess from between 70-80 LBS....

Mine came today and I had it shipped to my Mom and Dad's house as I knew someone would be home to sign for it and take it in vs @ my house the UPS guy would leave it on the front porch for the neighbors to carry off.... Or tow away, with the weight of this thing... LOL...

I must say, very nice on the packing job... If one of these comes damaged it was from the shippers neglect, not FIs....

Just a few more things (head unit, rest of the wire and some sound deadener) and I'll have everything... Still hoping for March or early April to have everything...

  15. the hats look great and really likin the new longsleeve shirts too, i am making another order today, will be 4th order i have done in couple months. woot.gif

I just ordered a sub and was going to order a Shirt, Hat and Maybe a hoodie, but the shirts/hoodies only go up to 3x I need a 4X or I was it once and its to short and too tight...

  16. What about Sub Up, Slot Port up, Port all the way at the rear towards the back of the hatch area/cargo door?

The box will need to go from the seat back all the way back to the the back wall as I don't want to go wider and takeup the whole hatch...

  17. I just placed an order at DbR for a refurbished SAE-1200D. They are stated as not including the remote. Does anyone know where I can get one for it? Are they a standard phone jack type remote that I could snag one from Ebay or somewhere else ?

Not to be a douchebag, but do you really need one???

I set it and forget it... In all the amps I've had I only installed it, with the 1st one that had it, then found I never used it... So I stopped wasting the time and effort to run and place it... (not that its that hard)

  18. As long as we are talking about Sundown and its products in general and not any one things... I have a question or curousity...

Jacob, If you don't mind me asking, How does one such as yourself get into making amps, or having them produced and starting a Company like Sundown???

There are several smaller companies that I've been currious about as to how they come about...

I think what your doing is really interesting!!!

I'm sure all the fans will jump in and tell their version and thats cool, but I'd really like to hear yours...

  19. 1: In the power connection section of the manual, it shows the amp connected directly to the battery; no fuse for the wire, just the 3 30 amp fuses on the amp, but there is a fuse in the wire in the 2000 and 3500 diagram. I know that the 2000 and 3500 do not have fuses of their own and therefore need the fuse in the power wire, but I did not know that there was no need to fuse the power wire for the 1000 and 1500... I have always been told to fuse the power wire no matter what, so this is new to me.

2: I have always been told by many reputable members of this forum that sundown rates their amps' output at 12.8v instead of 14.4. However, in the manual, it says that the testing voltage and THD were 14.4 and less than 1% THD. THD is total harmonic distortion, right? So it is irrelavant to the testing voltage, (besides the fact that a higher output can be achieved with a higher THD?), correct? Does this mean that sundown tests at 14.4 not 12.8? I am confused...

SA-12: Dumb question, but will there ever be a dual 2ohm model? Just wondering.

    Thanks for any input! trink40.gif

    1. I think that is to illustrate, which amps need external fuses and which don't... Has Noting to do with the main wire.... You should always fuse the main wire from front to back at each end no matter what Amp your running... That will protect the wire and the car, then if the amp does not have its own fuses, like the 2000Ds for example, you add them there too, that protects the amp...

    2. Not a dumb question... But one I do not have the answer for, I'd like to hear Jake or someone from Sundowns view on it...
