  1. well i only got like $20 into it right now, and i have access to a friends so im not really hurting.

A new one cost roughly ~$300, i am the cheap lol

Also plan on buying a gun here in the next week or 2 :)

    gun > mower :snipersmilie:

    What gun?

I have been looking at Some Ruger's, Smith & Wesson, and some Taurus's.

Basically looking at Revolvers in the ~$500 range. Looking at some 357 mags, and 38 special + P

Any guns u recommend in that range?

  2. Is this a riding mower???? I thought it was a push.

Man I have purchased 3 mowers on the street for next to nothing and had 2 given to me. I have 2 pushers. One is non operational... spark plug shot out the front of it and I haven't messed with it since.

its a push. I was lookin at lowes while i was in there they had a self-propelled one for $280

If i do buy a new one, u bet i will look around alot more

  4. damn lawnmower wins again.

Well i got it running past what i prime into the engine.

What it does now is run for roughly 1 minute, then lose compression/miss fire/bog down and die.

Also replaced the spark plug today thinking that would help. Didn't help at all :(

Also when i went to start it today it seem like the engine was sort of seized up a little, because the pull string was stuck and took some extra force to get the motor to turn over.

any suggestions on what to look for now. I'm almost to the point to go buy a new mower.

Pull the plug and tell me what it looks like.

I pulled the new plug, and its seems pretty dirty to me already.

Did you rebuild the carb? Sounds like your fuel ratio is to high. Does the plug smell like gas when you pull it out?

Yes I did rebuild the carb, and all that seemed to look bad to me was the seat inlet, which i replaced. It did seem a little strong on the gas smell when i took the spark plug out today, before i started it again. But after I ran it the smell wasn't to bad.

It also seems like to me that the mower is getting pretty hot fast.

Could a bad prime bubble cause to much gas to get into the engine? Cuz the prime bubble is never really firm

well yesterday i took the carb off again and noticed a little debris in the bowl. So i am soaking the carb in cleaner to help. Also i plan on taking the gas tank off today and draining the gas, and cleaning it.

  8. Buying a gun is like buying clothes or a pair of shoes; if it ain't comfortable it ain't worth buying. You still in Beaumont? If so, check out Collector's Firearms sometime; they're on the corner of Fondren and Richmond, just north of Westpark. They've got plenty of models for you to "try on" 1911's, Sig's, Glock's, XD's, Beretta's, random military paraphernalia, you name it, they probably got it

ya there is a gun show coming up here in 2 weeks, so I plan on getting something there, I should have a pretty good selection to choose from :)

  9. 12 gauge 00 buck :werd_msword:

20 gauge 2 buck works fine too

12 gauge up, 20 gauge down.

Don't worry about hand gun unless you want to shoot handguns for fun. 12 with 00 buck is the panultimate home protecter.

Not in the market for a shotgun right now.

I have really been wanting a handgun to shoot, and simply to start growing my collection of guns that is pretty small right now...

My plan is to get this gun, get my concealed handgun license, then get another smaller handgun to carry.

So im looking into the .357 and the .38 specials also a .45 maybe.

    Thanks

  10. On another note, I'm looking into getting a handgun for home defense. Since im staying in a Rent house now.

Never know who might be stopping by late at night for some groceries...

looking into the 357's, and 38 special plus p my friend was talking about.

  11. 9 times out of 10 it just the shit that settles in the bowl starts to clog the pick-up. Second would be that old gas turned to varnish and is gumming everything up. Always start with the simple stuff first.:)

I have all my vehicles and homeowners insurance through Farmers. The more things I insure, the better the deal. :)

There is no bowl on this mower. 9 times out of 10 if the carb has a primer bulb it is a direct feed carb with no storage device like a fuel bowl, otherwise it wouldn't need a primer bulb as fuel is already in the carburetor ;).

And to the OP, sounds like the diaphragm is screwed. Just get a kit for it and be done with it. The mower doesn't matter, what matters is the carburetor. The Scotts with the 5.6 hp briggs may have 2 or 3 different carbs. Some may be CA emissions, and some federal, etc.

well results from tonight carb is off and still off...

went to work on it and there is a fuel bowl, the float was stuck shut, because of the old gas that was left in the bowl when the mower was put up.

    Carb Number: 214661 T (B&S)

found a 214700 diagram that is pretty damn close to this one.

    http://www.ereplacementparts.com/briggs-and-stratton-214700-series-engine-parts-c-16758_17347_17375.html

Looking at page D, part number 106 Which is a rubber bushing of some sort, called a seat-inlet from the diagram.

This part was stuck and dry rotted, i proceeded to pull out the little pieces of rubber that were left. So tomorrow I plan to run to the autoparts store and see what they got.

  12. Another Question

What renters insurance do y'all suggest?

The one that an insurance broker you trust suggests. NEVER work with an agent for a single company, in particular at your age. It is the equivalent of throwing money down the drain.

ya i was looking into Assurant, because it was supposedly a good deal, im covering 20k of personal property and it works out to be $426 a year.

I dunno im still looking. My parents are still picking up the car insurance trying to make them keep that as long as possible even though my car only has liability on it.

My parents have state farm FWIW.

Your parents are getting raped....they should change to a broker. Really. WAY better coverage and less money.

$426 is absurd for renters, it should nearly be free with car insurance. Your car and renters shouldn't be 2x that a year.

Im not paying the $426, that was just a quote assurant gave me over the internet.

I will look into state farm and see what they offer.

  13. my bro ordered pizza from domino's and he did it online and I don't know what the fuck he did and we ordered a peporini and cheese so were waiting for the dude and he gets here and it's pucking dry pizza with just little pieces of pepperoni no cheese no tomato sauce. The cheese one is next just cheese and dough. I bet the dudes making it were like wtf.

ordering onling > then your bro

  14. Quick question for you pros here in the hop.

Im working on getting a self propelled lawnmower running again. The lawnmower is in great condition.

I have changed the oil and cleaned up the spark plug.

I prime the little bubble about 4-5 times, pull the string, it starts for about 5 seconds then dies.

So it is only running on what i prime into the engine. So my plan tomorrow is to take the carb off and clean it up.

Any other things i should look for?

Depends on a few things really. Does the priming bubble seem slow to recover? That is, does it stay collapsed? On the carburetor, does it have 2 fuel lines coming into it? What brand? On the carburetor, does it have a bowl or are the lines a direct feed into the side of a small square shaped carb?

A few things come to mind. If it does not have a bowl, I see a lot of the pump diaphragms go bad, and a carburetor rebuild is on the menu. These carbs are really simple, just a few parts really. Just get a sharp razor blade, a can of carb cleaner, and the carb kit from your local NAPA. Keep the gaskets you take off the carb in order, as you will see several gaskets in the kit that you won't use, and each has some very slight differences. Really the only thing that I see go bad on these (unless you leave it sit and the gas goes sweet) is that diaphragm, and replacing it should be all you have to do. The diaphragm will be under a plate that has a round bulge on it. But I like to clean all the passages with the carb cleaner real good.

Second, if it has 2 fuel lines I see those stupid lines break inside the tank all the time. While the single line that feeds the bulb may be good and it will prime, the one that feeds the pump diaghram will be busted and you will see a lot of air bubbles in it, or it will be void of fuel altogether.

Third, if the bulb has a hard time recovering you either have a collapsed of clogged fuel line, or a clogged carburetor port that is creating a vacuum on the line prohibiting fuel feed.

    Another Question

What renters insurance do y'all suggest?

I use Nationwide for all my homeowners, automotive, and landlord insurance. Generally you get discounts if you choose to carry multiple policies with the same company. It is worth asking your agent about.

The lawnmower is a: Scotts 6.5HP(briggs and Straton) I/C Intek Edge OHV Mod:22966X8A

first thing that happened the prime bubble started running fuel out the little relief hole when i first filled it up. So i raised the front of the lawnmower up for awhile. Then i came back to mess with it and the bulb no longer leaked. So i proceeded to start the mower. Thus it rain for about ~3 seconds on primed fuel.

I was going to tear into it tonight but i work a lil over 12 hours today and it was dark outside already and i ran to wally world to get some carb cleaner and other essentials.

The carb does have a bowl underneath it. i believe it only has one fuel line. The plan is to tear into it tomorrow and see whats going on.

  17. WHAT THE FUCK, SOMEBODY STOLE MY TRAEGER GRILL

Oh snap! Dont u live in an apartment? Where did u have it at?

Yeah. It was on my back porch. I didn't have anywhere to enclose it. I'm so full of rage I'm not sure how I'm going to work today. Sleep last night definitely wasn't the greatest. Woke up for an hour at a time a couple times, just watching my back porch light and listening to my apartment actually hoping somebody would show up so that I could beat the fuck out of them. I had two dreams and both were about it. I live in about the nicest part of the city, nothing out here is more than 10-12 years old. I thought I would be away from that shit.

is it sort of a fenced in porch?
