  1. what kind of Vas would you use for an IB install? Vas has allways been a spec that i can't comprehend...i know it is the amount of air equal to the compliance of the drivers suspension, but that doesn't have whole lot of meaning to me...i know someone said to think of the amount of air(the Vas rating) in an enclosure with the speaker and that is equal to the suspensions compliance but i odn't know...anyone welse have a better way for me to better understand this?

  2. what is the vocal range anyways? somewhere 2Kish right?

i think you could find a good 8" driver...you just have to look hard enough...find a low inductance 8" with a good on axis response that will work in a door IB application...i guess it is a little easier said than done...i have no suggestions but there is a driver out there

it all depends too...i was told as a rule of thumb, don't cross a tweeter any lower than two octaves above resonance...

  3. not to keep thing off track but TCs prices are up there now!

but i was impressed with some of the Kicker Comp sets i have heard...

I heard a nice set of polks a while back but don't know the model and whatnot....so thats no help

what kind of budget are you on? if i had the money, i'd get the RE XXX comps!

i'd even suggest some JL Audio XR sets....a little on the spendy side but i love mine(still wish i would have paid less for them)

  4. i love them too! wish i never got rid of mine...well to an extent...i can agree with everything you said about them....nice set up by the way...looks real good....i especially like the changeable ports....definitely come in handy for driving to the comps bumpin, then it's just a matter of changing ports for straight spl :)

but very nice scores...i did a 143.2 in the kick with 2 12" SEs outlaw(in a MECA event) in a focus hatchback...4 cu ft. tuned to 28 or 29 hz or so....

but do the SEs really handle up to 1K daily for music?

  5. i have 4 13w7 subs right now i had one in a 7cuft enclosure tuned at 70 hz and did a 155 on a term lab. that was with 2 rf bd 1500 amps strapped together. i now have 2 in the sealed jl spec box and they sound excellant. they are the LSQ subs they play low frequencies at high volumes and still have good upper frequency response the w6's are the spl sub. by the way i am selling them just so i can get 18's the 13's are too small for my van.

are you refering to the old w6s? the new ones are in no way comparable in output to the w7 when used in similar applications

  6. i'll agree with that after seeing the alpine type X number 2 above the w6v2

and their recent review of a of PG comp sets that are said to be damn near just as good as Seas Lotus and high end Morel...better than a set of rainbows is what they rated these....i find it hard to believe

  7. not much to introduce about myself...just looking for another forum to spend some of my time on each day...

i'm more of an SQ guy if that helps with my introduction

and i just acquire an old brahma mark ii with glue issues...may be an easy fix or i might just get on the Fi forum and talk to someone about turning it into an 18"...okay i guess i am kind of a bass head too...with sq in mind :)

  8. w7 is a great sub...i had 10w7 and i can say it was a pretty good LSQ driver from my experience...but i'll agree about the w6s... one of the cleanest subs i've heard...

anyone ever heard a critical mass sub? according to car audio and electronics, it was one of the best tested subs(according to them)
