  1. I have a us acoustics usx2080 that i got from Audio Clinic off of ebay and it is hooked up to my pioneer premiere 720prs speakers and it just doesn't seem much louder than the radio straight to the speaker. My gain is at about 3/4 which seems kinda high to me but thats where the DMM put it. My HU is an Alpine 9885 and i used a 1000hz wave to set my gain to 17.9 volts. Someone told me it may be an install problem but what kind of install problem could cause this? Wouldn't it be either working or not working? Also, how much louder should this amp be than the HU? Thanks for any help or tips!!!

  2. Yeah, you should just use the amp that is in the current box and hook it to a new box for a new 12 that will run on 200rms.... And port it too if you are just looking for louder.... Also, where did you get 200rms from? The specs on that say the subwoofer has 160 watts at 3 ohms and im betting that isnt rms or at least a little over rated....

  3. I don't really have any problem with the speakers right now as much as i do with the sub.... I only have money to do one right now and would rather go with the sub.... I will eventually replace the speakers but i might just wait till one goes bad or something... The sub is definitely the weak point of the system... The speakers came in a 800 dollar speaker setup which i know isn't a whole lot but they cant be just complete crap.... It was front two speakers, center channel, rear surround speakers, and a powered sub setup.... I would just like to replace the sub right now since it is the most noticeable weakness...

  4. Thats about 1200 rms a piece which they should handle fine stock but you could get cooling on them or something..... Wouldn't put every option on it cause it would be a waste of money unless your pushing about 2000 rms to each....

  5. IDK, i think i might just go with the FI cause the mach 5 subs are sold out everywhere.... I will look around at some 10" subs to go ported with but i would rather do a 12 because i have a ported 12 box at my house that would fit on my back seat if i ever wanted to redo the setup.... I also have a ported 10 box but its too wide and i would rather have the output of the 12 if i had the choice....

  6. Ok well i need suggestions for a home audio setup for my room.... Once i get a little money i might re-do it.... I have an older (maybe 8-10 years old) Technics reciever and it is fine so i don't see any reason to get rid of it... I also have some jbl speakers from a Home-Theatre-In-The-Box type thing we bought a while back... There is a KLH sub in my room too that sucks pretty bad and would be the first thing to go.... It has a 125 watt plate amp on it but not sure how true that rating it, although i do believe it is rms.... My budget is $300 bucks for a subwoofer amp.... How much would a decent 500 watt RMS amp cost and would it be a direct hookup to where my powered sub right now is? I would build a new box and buy a sub to match whatever amp i buy... I havent really found many sites with home audio amps other than PE and Madisound and im not really sure which ones are decent and which ones aren't.... Also, is there any way to hook my ipod up to my HT? I really would like to listen to more music on it than what is on the radio.... It doesn't have a cd player hooked up to it which i will put on soon but i would still like to use my ipod and would rather use the jack in the bottom than the aux output cause it sounds worse.... Any help is appreciated.... Also, im not looking for suggestions on buying a new reciever or new speakers right now so don't bother, cause i don't have the money even if i wanted to redo them and they perform fine for me....

  7. That BTL can handle like two or three times the rms rating of it for a little bit and is a pretty high dollar sub and if it were going through a dealer would likely be twice what it is now... Unless your friends have like two 15" higher end subs, you will be close to them....

  8. Q is supposed to be more sq oriented... If you loved your q then go for something you know you like or you could do the ssd but it will at least need flat wind probably and then you could sell that once you get money for a second amp and the two 15" q's... You are gonna get another amp for them right?

  9. Yeah, im only 16 and in high school and am working to buy my system after school and stuff so im not really expecting a mind blowing system but i bet it will still be a pretty decent first system... Once i get another vehicle from the truck i drive now in a few years or so then i might be able to redo my system with a little nicer stuff... Guess ill just stick with my choice of the Fi...

  10. Just a daily system... I wouldn't dream of competing with that kind of system or box... I just have that much room and was wondering what 12 would have the most spl out of that setup... Not saying how can i have more spl than anyone else from that setup... Guess i should have put it in the first post,lol... Thanks for clearing it up...

  11. Well, i was just wondering what kind of sub would be the best to get some spl out of a 1 cf box with maybe a little poly fil... Would have to be able to be powered off of a kicker zx750.1 and less than 7" mounting depth... Would like to keep it around 200 bucks but less would be nice and more may be doable but just post anything you think would be good... Sealed box of course and a 12"... Been looking at fi ssd, anything better than that output wise?
