  1. Passenger window is out of comission for the time being. Regulator motor decided to stop working. We will have to rig something up to get fire power out that window too. I will post more pics for you guys by tomorrow!!

  2. Turret mounted twin AA-12 fully automatic shotguns with 50 round drum mags on roof controlled electronically from passenger seat using an in dash mounted monitor and PlayStation style controller. That is my suggestion for a zav. Oh, and obviously using explosive rounds.

We could hold an airsoft gun out of the driver side window?? suicide-santa.gif

  3. Could I use a 3 channel line driver to up the input voltage into a 3 way crossover?? With a high pass Band pass And low pass filter?? I chose the iPad because I wanted to use it as a source unit and then take it to class with me to take notes on and such. I didn't want it to be a permant install. Thanks for everyone's help so far. It's really helping. Is there a minidsp unit that could be used with a line driver?? What are some good line drivers that are fairly inexpensive??

  4. Sweet. Somebody that knows what they are talking about. Right now I have nothing in the vehicle. I wanted to change to an active set up to gain control over my audio that I was missing out on with a passive system. As of right now I have my tweeters (FT1-SE x 2). I have my mids (PWX6.5 x 4). And I have my sub (FI BL 15). I also have an old MTX amp that will be pushing the tweeters at 50 watts rms @ 4 ohm x 2. And of course the iPad mini. I need to get a mid amp and a more powerful sub amp. I was allocating $500 to those two amps and was hoping to use the EQS746 for $60 to run the amps off the iPad. What would be the best way to get a signal from the iPad to the amps?? At the same time keeping everything active. I saw that clarion also makes a crossover unit with 3 RCA inputs and 3 RCA outputs. Could I split the 3.5 mm to RCA three ways into the crossover and then to each amp?? I feel like the voltage off the iPad aux would not be enough to spit three ways....

  5. For Black Friday I found a great deal on an iPad mini and want to use it as my new head unit. I have done some research on how to hook it up and now have a few questions. I found the iStreamer that takes the signal from the iPads USB connector and converts to RCA but right now that piece is way out of my price range. So instead I wanted to use a 3.5mm to RCA output to run my amps. What I was planning was running the 3.5mm to RCA into the aux input on a Clarion EQS746 and running each output to its amp. Front going to my tweeter amp. Rear going to my mids amp. And obviously sub going to my sub amp. Will the EQS746 act as a crossover so I can control my system actively out of the iPad?? Or do I need a crossover in between the EQS746 and the amps to get the right frequencies to the right speakers. Any input will help. Thank you in advance.

  6. After a sound test for the subs we found that our box had some really bad flex. The port wall would flex 2+ inches on bassy songs. Lol. The port has been addressed and now we will move onto bracing the inside. These subs are loud. Probably not as loud as some FI 15's, but for $30 shipped they are DAMN LOUD!! Now we will begin to work on the exterior of the car. Ideas on what will make this a better zombie might just be used. A "V plow" and rim spikes have already been suggested and are being contemplated. rockwoot.gif

  7. UPDATE!!! First off, what has been done to the car in the last two days has been done quickly. Now that we have the system installed work on the car will slow down but we will keep updating with more Zombie Car action. Lets see some pictures.

Took the hood off to make it easier to install the radiator and to bend it back into shape.

It got pretty warm today so we started the spray paint paint job. Ultimately the car will be red on top and have black bumpers and sides. But to start things off we painted the trunk lid.

OEM radiator brace was not readily available for less than $30. So we looked around and found some angle iron. Practically the same.

  8. Hi SSA guys.

My friend and I just recently picked up a very cheap car and we are going to turn it into a Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle (ZAV). All of the modifications will be done by hand using readily available materials. This is purely for fun and everybody's enjoyment. First things first, every Zombie car needs a sound system!! So this is what we have done. Searched amazon for some of the cheapest 15" subs we could have shipped. We came upon the Absolute USA SN 2000 subs. $30 shipped each. ;) And to make it even better, found a iPod docking deck for $27 shipped. After that we went and got some wood. 3/4 OSB had the best price. Used left over wire and fuses from previous builds and called it good. The amp we are using to power the subs is my old Hifonics BRZ1200.1D because I am upgrading the amp for my BL 15 in my daily driver. We will update the more that we modify the car. Hope you enjoy!!! PICTURES!!!

The ZAV was in an accident and will need a new radiator and headlights. No big deal. Already got a plan to get that take care of.

Okay. The magnet looked a lot bigger in the pictures..... My components have bigger magnets than these subs but thats what you get for $30 shipped. Lol.

Will update with more pictures as we progress through our build.

  9. I was looking into putting an order in through SSA for 4 PWX 6.5 and 2 Black FT1 tweeters. Does anyone know if these speakers are shipping out fairly fast?? For a while I heard they were on National Backorder and the website still shows that. But the shipping dates have passed. If I order these up what's the wait time on them?? Any info helps. Thanks a lot.

  10. I love the results. The BL is an amazing sub. Lol. I totally forgot to post specs on the box!! Its 5.8ft^3 tuned at 33 Hz. I think its a little to much space but gives the sub a very good sound at lower volumes. I lost a little bit of volume from the BL but it sounds exactly how I want it too. I have looked for a place to get my system measured but can't find anything. I believe its a termlab I need to get scores.

  11. nice!!! what store carried the 8' pipe????

I found a local plastic supply store that had it. The minimum amount you could purchase was 10' and I only used like 2'. So I was ganna try and sell it in the SSA classified section to try and help some people out that can't find it.

Nice im digging this build. How much for that singer alternator?

$500. It was a hard purchase. Lol.

  12. When testing the fit i found that the center of the false floor was pretty flimsy so I decided to put the amps under the sub and use them as a stand to hold the center up and then the weight from the sub and box would hold the amps in place. And this works great. So here are the modifications I did to the amp rack I had  made before.

    IMG_0245_zps8e5d9249.jpg

I extended the legs on the rack to fit right under the false floor as well as lift the amps high enough to clear the spare tire attachment point in the spare compartment. I also added the small distribution block to run any kind of 12volt thing I need too. Including remote wires and also LED's in the near future. :)

    IMG_0246_zps31884b51.jpg

Since the amps were going to be in a confined place i decided to add some cooling. I used the old fan out of my Xbox 360 since the xbox had a new LED fan in it and I had no use for this one any more. I couldn't find my hot glue gun so I just held it in there with some screws. Lol.
