  1. I've had some crappy 12's (MTX RoadThunder) and a 500 watt Bazooka amp since I was 16. I just got a new job and wanna go big. I have a friend who has a DD 10" (2510 I think) hitting 139 db on music with 700 watts.

Even though I have more money to work with, I need to keep it as cheap as possible. I really want a 15 and however many watts it takes to get loud as fuck without blowing the sub.

-I was looking at FI Btl but its a little high

    -I know DD is good

-I don't know anything about Incriminator.

    -people have mentioned RE

the only ones of these I've seen in action is DD.

This is not an SPL build, just a daily driver that I want to be louder than the crap I have now.

Thanx in advance for the advice.

All the stuff you listed is great. Focus your money and effort into a good install and quality/correct box build and you'll have great results with anything you listed... really any product that has a forum on this board will give you great results if you install and use it properly. A 15" is great, but a 15 stuffed into a crappy box that's too small would be < a good 12 in a proper box.

  2. Any word yet? Iam building a new system right now and what Zed to power it! I used to have one of his old school amps along time ago and it was excellent sounding. Iam sure his new stuff is even better.

Try to grab some of the current line if there's any left. First off, the new stuff may be a bit of a wait, and the old stuff holds re-sale value amazingly well so you won't have an issue getting most of your money back when the new line comes out.

  3. Ok so i figured this would probably be the most reasonable place to put this question. I have an Autotek 7100bts. Does anyone actually use these things with subwoofers or do people only use them for hi's? I was considering using it for a sub amp but everywhere i read people put them on 6x9s or on component sets. any info would be appreciated.

Oh i know this is dumb question but what about putting to Icon D1s on it and running it at 4 ohms? wonder what would happen?

That amp is rated at 50X2 @ 4 ohms, but it's really personal preference. If that's enough for you, it's fine. Personally, I'd use something like that on mids and highs.

  4. My minis are maxed, but my HU is really weak pre-amp outs. Deuce is about 12 o clock, was much lower with my old Kenwood with t he 5V pre-outs.

Mine are at 0, using an eclipse 8053 with the bal. Do you think it could hurt my amps, the bal puts out 10volts to the amps. So if I turned my headunit all the way up it would be over volting the amp by 2volts. Had no problems so far for over a year, but would like any thoughts.

The protect circuits in the Zed amps are pretty good, so the amp would probalby be safe (why push it though?), but speakers will roast pretty fast with a clipped signal.

If you have 8V pre amp going into them, you're probably right to have the gains all the way down.

  5. Very little details have been released, I have stated them in a few of the topics on here. All new design, maybe only 2 models, flexable chassis maybe Class D.

NOT class D. That is a viscious lie. Will be the ultimate flexible SQ amp. More probably with tube options.

I am just going by what Stephen told me over the phone. Why would I lie about amps I love?

No accusation implied. I had heard the same thing about the big class D when I called and asked about a big class D he told me that was BS.

We talked for a little while just before Christmas about this and it sounded to me like an amp that would do anything from 4 channel to true mono and anything in between to 1-8 ohms depending on setup. Anyway, perhaps there's more than 1 in the works? Perhaps class D is an option? Perhaps it's a multichannel with a class D section? It definitely sounded to me like a lot was still on the drawing board so who knows?

I have got the impression from Stephen that 1. He isn't a big fan of class D, and 2. he thinks people who run at 1 ohm are arsehos.....Then again, that doesn't mean he isn't building something for that market to either.

OR, perhaps this is all wild speculation and a vast conspiracy of misinformation to get the buzz out about what's coming. Either way, I'm going to get the biggest meanest one as soon as possible.

Like you, I'm just going by what I was told. Pretty exciting speculating though since you KNOW it's gonna be sick!

  7. I asked for serial # 0000001 allready..... Stephen told me he won't be selling them to the east coast anymore. I think I've been a real pain in his arse this summer! LOL

Seriously, I get the impression they're not that close yet, but if he re-considers the east coast thing, I'm on board.

  8. That is a safe assumption. :)

I got a pair of 1000F's. They're post hifonics pre-Alphasonic. Honestly rated and clean sound. No frills simple pre-amp section, good pots and connectors (similar to the Lanzar pots and connections). That Audioclinic guy is an upright guy too. The 1000F gets HOT at 4 ohms bridged though. I suspect if you bridged that 4080 to 4 ohms it would heat up fast.

Not as good as the new stuff, but then again, they're a quarter of the price AND good luck finding a draconia!

Go for it, you won't find a better small 4 channel for the money.

  9. awesome, thanks guys. now i just have to wait for the new sundowns.

if anyone is bored and feeling smart, i still wouldn't mind an explanation of how the signal is reproduced and how that effects each class, but i got what i needed.

Class A/B amps will be lower distortion, especially noticable at higher frequencies. Though, the downside is much lower efficiency.

Check some of the "tech talk" section at www.zedamps.com he has some good info on amplifier "classes".

I noticed an improvement in SQ with A/B's on my subs, but for the ammount of power I like to run, it's not really practical without serious electrical system upgrades.

  10. supposed to be best ever....I emailed him few days ago..very interesting

I talked to Stephen at length before Christmas about the new amp. It will be the most amazing thing on the market hands down. There's talk of various tube options too.

I'd hate to say too much since he said a lot of things were still on the drawing board, but I'll probably move my BB deuce to my rear surround channels.
