  1. I wanted a factory fit. They sound phenominal and I have no complaints. JL hit it out the park with the C5's. the CEO of JL said they are better than their flagship ZR's. That was after I bought them. Great speakers. Music sounds awesome, and movies sound like IMAX quality.

And Actually, I have 6.5's. The 5x7 weren't ready to ship at the last minute after I had the engraved plaque done so Audio Advisors made some brackets and put 6.5's in.

  2. Last weekend. Local Fall Festival and show-n-shine. Not many cars, about 30, half of them classic cars. Very nice. Only a few had systems. All were basic set-ups (I.E. subs in a box thrown in the trunk, amps hidden or mounted on seat backs, etc.) Didn't win anything, but got alot of compliments so my day was made. Any ways, here she is:

  3. I was wondering if the staff would be open to Shirt design suggestions. I have an SSA shirt that I purchased and wear proudly at car shows and would like a couple more. I had some ideas for different designs I think would be neat and attract more attention. Not looking for any compensation or anything. If you legally need me to waiver something fax it to me and I'll be happy to sign. Let me know.

  4. For what it is....a low power handling, value SQ sub....it's a very good sub. Most places retail it right at about $100. It's meant to take 200-250 watts continuously to get the best performance out of it. Put it in a ported box built to JL spec, and it'll boom a little more.

It's not meant to take gobs of power. It's for small systems, people looking for a small upgrade.

Like all of JL's products, if used how they are intended to be, they meet and exceed their advertised tokens. If you deviate, you probably will be dissapointed.

I have a single 13W6 on a 500/1 in a dual square ported enclosure built to JL spec. I constantly get tons of compliments from people at shows about not only how good and clear it sounds, but how loud and hard it hits for being just one sub on 500 watts.

The last show I was at in particular I was sandwiched between a Mustang with two Kendwood 12's, and another car with Two JBL 12's, both had amps rated higher than mine (whether or not they really pushed more is another debate) My bass was clearly deeper, louder and harder than theirs. They were checkin me out scratching their heads at my little 500/1 pushing my single sub like that. To be honest, my enclosure probably has alot to with it. It's very well built, built by one of the top 100 installers in america, Tom Mangs of Audio Advisors in WPB, Fl. Dual square ports, rear firing, built for the W6. It sounds really good.

Now...is my set-up an SPL set-up? Of Course not. I attempted to maximize boom by going ported. JL specializes in sound reproduction. SQ. They CAN get loud (subjective. what's loud to one may not be to another) if set-up, but it's not their forte. Anyone buying JL looking to blow doors off will more often than not come away dissapointed. But a side-effect of my set up is the fact that if the volume nob goes up, it does rattle my car and those near it pretty good. For a daily driver, I'm good to go.

  8. I didn't get banned, but since I found this site, I've been going there less and less. Too much drama and people degrading you if you suggest any sub that's not an Fi or XXX. If you pay more than $300 bucks for sub or a 1000W RMS amp you're either a tool, and idiot, got raped, etc.

I mainly still go there to provide respectful and objective help and advice for noobs or people not much in the know, and to read the lounge. They post some nice hot women pics.

This is my main forum for hardcore car audio now, along with FloridaSPL.

  9. While I am glad that the finish product worked, you just had your car sanded to deal with it. A buffer, some 3M product and a little love can go an amazingly long way in making your shine really deep into the paint.

Not quite sure what you're getting at. You mean the car being sanded had a hand in the outcome? I know that. What I was trying to say is that pryor to using the stuff I just got, I had used mainstream stuff from auto parts stores. Those products never worked as good as these. I've used Meguairs and Nu Finish Polishes, turtle wax, etc. And after I applied and removed them, in the sun light you could still see area's that didn't come off fully. So I would buf them more and there was still a bit of a haze and some swirls. (I do everything b hand because you gotta know what you're doing with a machine, plus I don't own a machine) I was also socked that Meguairs Micro-fiber towels actually left some very fine scratches. Not noticable really unless you get up close. And black shows everything. Other soaps, even no rinse formulas, left a light film you could notice between it and area's with out it. It just didn't look as pure and clean as the optimum no rinse and shine.

And the Cobra Micro-fibers were great. No new swirls left, and unlike the meguairs micro-fibers, they worked with minimal effort. A couple passes over the area sprayed with quick detailer, and then turn over and one pass and done. The other's I had used didn't work that well. They didn't buff as well.

  10. Thanks to Xtremekustomz (Other message board) for turning me onto this website. I have to admit I hadn't heard of many of their products other than Mother's and Meguairs when I went there. But I went and got the stuff he recommended to keep the car looking it's best and not causing any swirl marks, scratches, haze, etc during washing, drying and detailing.

Well I just finished washing my car today for the first since I got the paint color sanded to remove all the swirl marks, scratches and much of the factory orange peel, with all of the products I ordered.

The products left the best finish I have ever had on any car

  11. The only thing I don't like about that one is lack of HDMI support. Argue all you want about how you have no devices that support it at this point... you will eventually since that's where the home theatre market is moving to.

You'll want a receiver that upconverts all video to HDMI output and supports the HDMI v1.3 HDCP standard.

I hear ya, and I may very well get one that does. for $139, it does all that I need and will need for some time. My plan is use it know with the Toshiba speakers. Save a bit and get some nice Klipsch or B&W's, upgrade the sub to a JL fathom, then at the very end upgrade the TV and get HD.

When the time comes I'll get a nice Marantz or something like that with all the supports.

  12. So are you after an all-in-one central unit?

Yes. And thanks for the reply. ONe central unit that won't break the bank and can power the speakers I listed.

Everything I find is like 100W per channel. Is that too much for my speakers? Won't I blow them if I crank it up?
