  1. Not sure if there are any left or not, are you just looking for a pair of them?

    Thanks!

    -Nick

yes i was looking for a pair, i remember the price was rediculously low for two. i might run them myself for home theater. but i was curious if you had sold out already. if so its cool

  2. whats up yall. in my system i have us amps 400, esx q404, two ssd12's, a duralast battery upfront and an optima red top in back. for fuse i only have the one in between the two batteries and it is 80a. thats the only one the local car shop had left at the time of install. my question is should i go ahead and order a bigger fuse? does it really matter? and should i have another fuse somewhere in my setup? the esx is internally fused and the us amps has very good internal protection. anybody with thoughts on this?

  3. what up scott or nick do you guys still have anymore of the x series for sale? what was the price on 'em. friend of mine want some fi but cant afford to do a whole lot of upgrades, so i sold him my rfp8002 for cheap and told him these should be perfect for that amp. you guys got any input on it? whats the ohm rating for these?

    thanks

  4. well now I dont feel so bad about my area, I thought it was only here in Goldsboro NC..lol

hey were you at in goldsboro? are you military? im stationed at seymour johnson. i was beginning to think i was the only person in goldsboro that have fi or even know what it is!!

  5. jysoe you give up too easy dude. i have two ssd 12's copper coils running on a us amps400 this amp is rated 1200@2ohms. it is a slightly underrated amp but let me tell you these puppies get loud! the box they are in is only giving them about 1.9 per woofer tuned to 33hz and the sound pressure has already made my window leak from jumping out of the surround. and my trunk lock is broken due to vibration. and i have yet to be able to crank it as loud as it can go! let me tell you i have become a fi fanatic and i hadent heard of them until about two months ago. even with the amp you have youll be happy. i wouldnt trade my current setup for anything unless i were competing and i would only just get another us amps. nick is just saying that the woofers can give you more if you want it.

  6. yes its a gas (guzzler) lol. inline six euro spec i got when stationed in germany and love it. i really want to trick out the trunk but money is short and so are my ideas.

  7. heres my frankenstein box in action lol with a few different songs. i added a slow song by bebel gilberto called winter also. this song has nasty bass and it even adds a kick over the already playing bassline near the end of the song (sorry couldnt catch that) well enjoy the latest from fi ssd 12's in the old school benz!!

  8. i just finished putting the new ports in, almost exactly 4" from the back wall, what a big friggin difference! i played my favorite low song "moonstone" by bass mekanik and the benz emblem on my hood was actually shaking!! i cant wait to build a box to specs. thnks for your help i should have some new vids up tomorrow so you can see how yall's knowledge helped me out.

  9. thanks for the info. the box does seem to have a nasty cutoff when i crank it. ill try playing with the ports and make em the 11.25" i have plenty of polyfill so thats going in there too. i dont have a subsonic filter so i cant do anything about that. the amp is the old school us amps400 no filters, no bass knobs, just power! and i have two batteries, running off the stock alt but vol drop isnt too bad. if i were to go bigger with the ports what should be the measurments for this box? i dont mind altering the box to do this cause this one is temp anyway but i know it can sound better. thanks folks

ps the ports arent flared just pvc pipe from lowes hardware lol

  10. i have a box i was using for some other woofers in that i put to use in my trunk. here are the measurements 35x16x16 with divider and two four inch ports 8" long each i kinda wanna stay with this box for now because it fits perfectly. the problem is tuning what is this box tuned to and what should i change with the ports? the wood is 3/4 mdf. any suggestions? thanks oh yeah in case you didnt know 2 fi ssd12's copper option in the box.

  11. the fi's have a much more deep sound and i have put them in a crappy prefab and they sounded so good i was almost tempted to keep the prefab. the esx's did not like the prefab at all they were very peaky and bottomed out so bad i almost f'ed up the voice coils. they slam in a big box though, but still the fi's have em beat on overall nasty lows and smooth response on the same power to each. the esx's are made to punish you, the fi's will punish you and sound good doing it lol

  12. hi all i was bored, so i thought i'd post a coupla pics of my beloved fi's and my german made esx's that i raved about. they both handle around the same wattage but the fi's are'nt as choosey which box they slam in. some vids later.

  13. thanks for the compliment. running the wires was a pain, the benz designers didnt make panels to come off easy back then. and they decided the trunk was a good place for the gas tank. i had to run all the wiring past it YIKES. if it were under the car that would push my box back almost a foot and a half! and i wouldnt hear gas sloshing when my music is down(almost never) lol

  14. After loads of questions i got my ssd 12's today!! Surprisingly enough it only took a week! i looked at the shipping manifest and it said i wouldnt get them till next week! enough of that lets talk shop. I couldnt wait to put these babies in my car. Here's what i got Alpine hu audiocontrol3.1, audiocontrol line driver, usamps 400 bridged @2 ohms 1200w, optima red top in the trunk. Well i started out by turning the gain just under 1/4 on the amp and just over 1/4 on the line driver. stuck in bassy yet musical cd Basskraft-tribute to krafwerk and proceeded. The box i have these in is less than spectacular(it will be replaced) and i really took it easy at first 'cause i expected this box to sound crappy. even in the prefab box the response was very smooth from mid bass to low bass, then it happened! there was a part of the song that really drops and when it did i thought i mistakenly hit the volume and turned it up cause my trunk started to rattle and my steering wheel shook. i started to beat them a little harder after, that not too hard though. but ive managed to vibrate the steering wheel so bad that it started to hurt(it is solid woodgrain). i ran through a bunch of songs all with very different varying bass tones and these babies love lows. I then threw in tool and played hooker with a penis and the thundering drums at the end felt like someone hitting me in the head! Keep in mind this review is in a crappy prefab and i never turned the sub level much past 1/4 so there is more to come! well enough talk heres pics. i will load vids of different songs hopefully by tommorow! So far i have a new love :cookiemonster:
