Old Havoc Vs. New Havoc differences?

If I am not horribly mistaken, that is an AA Avalanche, not Havoc... Upgrading my setup

Is the smell kind of like rotten eggs? If so, that is a problem you need to address IMMEDIATELY. That would be the coils of your subwoofer getting way too hot and exceeding their thermal limits, which has potential to cause permanent damage or even failure of the driver. As far as the alt goes... Power cannot be made. 70 amps*14.4 volts (optimum, most likely not realistic) = 1008 watts. Power cannot just be made out of nowhere. You are most likely not able to draw enough power for your sub, and are running your amp into clipping and sending too much power to the sub, which causes the coil to heat up and smell horrible. Upgrade alternator, primary batt, and big 3 and then we'll be talking! Ditch the batcap. Just have a good primary batt and a good alternator and that will be all you need. Give us a budget and we'll try to work things out for you... I'd say hold off on the new box and the new speakers and amp... Get your electrical a new batt and alt first with big 3, then go with new speakers and amp, then a new box.

    94' Yukon. 8 12'''s Tahoexfixssd's build

A lot of money put into this... but a lot more work. Great job man! Same age as you.... My system is not near on the level yours is though, nor as clean Great work.

    CES Fi Style

This honestly makes me reconsider getting a sedan for college as opposed to something that would fit 22 inch subwoofer...

    SSD BRAND NEW!!!

I mean every sub is custom made to order... There is no reason they should take returns...

    SPL S3 Vs. Nightshade

I hate ignorant people like that guy whoever he is. They are just dumb, and even if they beat you it is out of pure luck. Something that's always fun... If you have your setup built to dig deep and he has a probox or some other box tuned near 40... pull out a 25 hz tone and tell him to play it then see what happens He might have strength in pure SPL, but beat him where you have the advantage.

Enclosure for Fi BTL 15 in BMW 320dt

Don't use your design off of RE... You have the bottom and top depth different... from the side the box would look like |_\ You can trust BladeIce's design! Vent area is the height*width of the port to get port area so that you can avoid port noise...

The tinsels on the destroyer look special

    time to lose weight.

Same with me, but I'm on a completely different level... lol. Anyway, I just started drinking nothing but water and sometimes skim milk... I eat a salad only for lunch every day and make sure to get some type of meat in it or at night. Cut the little things and it will make a huge difference. Once you train your body to eat right it makes it so much easier to say no to dessert or that extra helping of whatever.

    Help! 4 BTL 18's in a wall

I know you like to be difficult, but this is just ignorant. You have never built a ported box and you are about to run 4 BTL's... You can do things difficult, but I mean it just sounds like you are going to use a lot of time, money, and effort just to get something that might or might not turn out how you want it... I'd recommend you TEMPORARILY use one sub, then move up...

Fi Q w/ BP vs AA Havoc

Just made a topic so you don't have to scroll through pages to find it... Ok first things first. The test was done in my car with my equipment (in signature). The box is 4.5 cubic feet net tuned to 32 hz with 57.25 in^2 of port area. Subs: 15" Havoc and 15" Q with BP option (both have embedded tinsels) Yummy pics: Here are TermLab results... Outlaw style (at the kick, both windows open) Q: Havoc: Legal (sealed up at the dash) Q: Havoc: Listening experience: To tell you the truth, unless you are a freaking machine, I doubt you would be able to tell the difference between these two drivers under the exact same circumstances. Now everything I am saying is dealing with ported enclosures; I have done no testing nor have I heard either sub sealed. I listened to everything from Nothing Left by As I Lay Dying with some sick kickdrum bass to the lows of Put On by Young Jeezy and almost no difference could be heard. The primary difference between the two is volume. You might not be able to hear much of a difference, but you can feel it. If you compare my door moving in 10 G's by Killer Mike in the two vids, it moved WAY more with the Havoc than with the Q. Definitely noticeable. The Havoc itself also seemed to move more, but that might have just been an impression. The Havoc also peaked out a little bit lower. It might be hard to see in the photos, but the Havoc got the loudest on the 33 and 32 hz tones while it was about 34 for the Q. Odd considering the Fs of the Havoc is a little bit higher. For sound quality and sealed setups, I'm sure there is a difference that would make a difference, but for the daily pounder, I'd say the Havoc is the better choice if you can get your hands on it, but the Q will do everything you want it to and more. Vids: Guess Who's Back by Mike Jones Q: Havoc: 10 G's by Killer Mike Q: Havoc: My buddy's top score of the day. He hit this outlaw style with Prime Minister by Young Jeezy. (He peaks at about 43 hz or so) Fi Q 15 w/ BP on about 1000 wrms in 4.0 cubic feet tuned to 30 hz in a Chevy Colorado

Fi Q w/ BP vs AA Havoc

Agreed completely. I still wanna try a sealed box sometime as well...

    Fi Bl 15"

The box could jump around all it wants, but as long as the sub was screwed into the baffle the motor should not have undergone any stress... Maybe it got dropped in the mail when it was shipped to you and the crack just took time to manifest itself.

Fi Q w/ BP vs AA Havoc

I have no clue. When Scott gets back from CES I hope that he posts a response to what I did and HOPEFULLY results of the tests he did comparing the two woofers. I want to see how his test results compare to what I found. And as to why it moves things around so much more, I have no clue. The Q is slightly more efficient, but not by very much. The only thing I can think of that would affect things moving would be the resonance frequency of the two drivers...

    Fi Q 15 enclosure ????

That should work fine. It'd be better to build a larger enclosure, but since you're limited on space that should still work great. good luck

What I was going to say before my post count so rudely interrupted. Nathan: feel free to comment on your feelings and stuff bout the experiment. What you heard counts just as much as me.

Fi Q w/ BP vs AA Havoc

What do you suggest to improve the accuracy and credibility of the test? What you stated was the problem I foresaw being brought up, but I merely wanted to provide some sort of tangible result that people could see. I mean somebody saying "things move around more with the Havoc" just doesn't cut it... At least There is some sort of factual evidence to give people something to compare... I see what you are saying and honestly, I agree...

    Does Scott Shun PM's??

If you can't get ahold of him, try Nick@ficaraudio.com They are both very busy and try hard to get back to emails and PM's...

  21. I have the ability to do a drop in head to head test w/ TermLab results between a Havoc and a Q 15 ported tomorrow. Anyone interested? And any other test you guys want? I have a TermLab, a Havoc 15, and a Q 15 so all is good to compare if there is interest!

Fi Q vs Havoc 15 drop in comparison

Eh. Got the Q in and metered it, but I had to go to a soccer game and did not have time to meter the Havoc. I have uploaded everything so far to photobucket, but I am going to wait till I have both sides to post up... Soon I promise.

    4.5 ft3 @ 32 htz for AA Havoc 15

I'mma make some more vids today. Any requests for a song or type of vid (shirt vid or whatever)? Thanks!

I want to hear a loud car,

And it depends on the frequency you peak at. A 140 at 47hz will sound much different than a peak of 140 at 33hz
