    DC LVL5 vs Fi BTL

Max rating = RMS x 2 (usually) Peak/max doesn't mean anything in the car audio world. If you are going to be pushing a sub over its RMS rating, you should be knowledgeable to that fact already. I'd just stick with RMS and match the subs and amps to that. Albeit, it is nice to have a little headroom (extra power) on the amplifier side of things to help avoid driving into clipping and/or distortion. Just be responsible with the gains.

    Ascendant Audio Chevy Astro

You are insane. This is probably one (if not the most) of my favorite vehicles. I really like how much detail is put into everything, and how each tiny detail is planned out and organized. Props dude!

    Gun stolen

While I was at work today, someone somehow managed to get into my car and grab my two week old Glock 26 9mm and my wallet. What a day. Any suggestions on what I can do to recover this thing? I've already filed a police report and I will be checking local pawn shops as well as setting up cameras around our cars (mine wasn't the only one that someone got into). This sucks... That thing wasn't cheap and a gun is not something to be on the streets...

Sub up port up or sub forward port forward

In a 1999 Toyota Tacoma, sub forward and port forward was louder than both up. Sub forward port side is the loudest combo we've gotten in a truck though.

My Fi Q's are finally installed

Got some new ones that we gotta get pics of up on the website.. The Fire and styled aluminum (can't remember the right name right now..i think it is technically 'rubbed aluminum') looks awesome! More cool stuff to come. Brushed aluminum? That would look sweet. Nice install and choice of equipment!

    Is this possible?

Of course that's possible. Completely plausible. I have a feeling you will break 110 dB with.... almost any setup that includes a subwoofer.
  9. Hey guys. Ok so a few weeks ago, my stereo began to exhibit a strange problem. It would sort of skip but while fading in and out with weird background noise that sounds like a disk spinning. I figured it was the CD player in my deck, but this problem occurred while using Aux and the radio as well. The problem directly correlates with me slowing down, turning, or making any change in direction, and it is VERY sporadic. I obviously figured it was my deck, so I replaced it with a new one. The problem is now occurring again. I'm at a loss. It is obviously not anything in the deck, and I cannot figure out where this very odd fading/skipping would come from. And like I said, it has SOMETHING to do with movement of some kind, as this does not happen when I am just driving straight without stopping or turning. Any help is appreciated, for this is tearing me apart. Thanks!

    very odd problem. help needed

Ok so I thought I had solved my problem, but now whenever I have the radio on and RCA's grounded, I get HORRIBLE engine noise through the speakers. I thought it was the radio, so I switched between the Kenwood and the Pioneer, and the problem occurs with both radios. So, any ideas on how to stop this? Replace RCA's? Give up? Thanks.

    very odd problem. help needed

So it is a SAFE solution to manually ground the jacket of the RCA wires? I mean as a 'permanent' solution?

    very odd problem. help needed

Actually, the other radio was a Kenwood Excelon, and I have had it in there for 3 years. There are no extra RCA's anywhere. I use all 6 channels of output, and there are three sets of RCA wires in my car, with all plugged in. Why exactly does this happen? I don't really understand the problem. I mean all I did was touch the jacket of the RCA to the amp ground, and both amps magically turned on through the original remote turn on (they wouldn't work through the turn on... only directly connected) and began playing like always... I'm just confused. Thanks for helping me out man.

Shizzon, I love you. Ok grounding the RCA worked. Both amps turned on, sound was crisp and clear and everything was as it should be. Tell me, What should I do so that my stereo will stay working? Thank you!!!!!!

'06 Pontiac Grand Prix Red and Yellow are hooked up correctly to the hot and the ignition. I'll try the tricks Shizzon suggested real quick.

The radio is BRAND NEW and the problem has happened with MULTIPLE RADIOS...

    very odd problem. help needed

It happens on disks, Aux input, the radio, everything. It is not a CD player problem... It isn't noise, it is more like the entire radio is just randomly cutting out

    very odd problem. help needed

1 amp for substage, 1 amp for surrounds. No speakers hooked up to the deck. Aux, radio, CD, everything. Either everything plays, or everything is off.

    very odd problem. help needed

Yeah pretty weird huh... Like I said, this shouldn't be a deck problem as it is EXACTLY the same with two completely different decks... one of them being brand new. I just wanna cry.

    very odd problem. help needed

Here is a video of the problem. The amps just blink on if they are hooked up to the regular remote, so I direct wired them to the battery in order to get them to stay on. Here is a video of what happens when, occasionally, the stereo actually decides to play. All connections are as they have always been. And keep in mind that this exact problem happened with another H/U, so it is not that. I am thinking that it could be the little "box" that is an adapter for my wiring harness. I don't really know what the problem is. This is depressing... Here is the vid:

No.... It started doing this out of nowhere. Here, I'll take a video of the problem to see if anyone else will help me... I'm about ready to just take it to a shop.... Which I have never done because mine is... inadequate.

    Sorry... comparison thread Havoc/HDC3

Havoc is a no go for SPL. I mean it can get loud, but it is primarily a SQ driver. I'd go with something else, like a BTL or Nightshade or something more tuned for SPL... Provided, I was able to get a 143.5 at 35 Hz with my 15" Havoc.
