Modding Amplifiers

I figured as much. Why is that manufactures only make products for dummies? nick19 and sqjeep I see a problem with running two crossovers. I'd be willing to bet that it will effect phase. You could see with an O-scope maybe. I don't know.. I just use the xover on the amp, but I can tell no difference when I turn the one on my headunit on... No affect in TermLab score either... -
I like that metaphor... lol

Modding Amplifiers

You can just run them both. It won't hurt anything. Turn the one on the amp up all the way, then (if it is low pass), it won't really do a whole lot. Unless you want your low pass at 250 Hz O_o -
Oh I didn't see his post. Haha.

That's pretty impressive!!! Is there any way you could compare an Icon, Q, and Havoc 15? I can get you specs if needed...
-
Q's for bassrace? Why not BL's?
-
So, you guys sold me on the q again, congrats! haha and with that change came with an amp change. I am now wanting to get the sae 1200d to run 1200 watts to it if the bp option really pushes it to 1500 watts. How does it sound in sealed boxes? If it sounds well i may just get a 15 and get a 2.5 cubic feet box. Could that fit in my truck? Good choice my friend. My friend has two of the 15's and I must say that they will happily handle everything we have given them. What are your max dimensions? All three sides please... PS - I know nothing about how sealed sounds

I can get my whole box to bounce up and down on the really low notes, and the woods vibrates a little more than I want. My box has no internal bracing, and it has a double baffle. 33inches wide x 32 inches deep x 12.75 inches high Now how can I strengthen this box without it taking up too much volume (minimum amount) and without having things poke out on the outside. I would use allthread, but that would cause me to have the end/bolt sticking out of the edge of the wood, which cannot happen because the box fits pretty tight. I was thinking about fiberglassing or using wooden dowels. Any suggestions/advice? Thanks!!!! Note: please don't get into arguments about strength and all that mess. Just make the box itself vibrate less

U will be very happy these sub are built like tanks. Nick that works over at FI has an SSD in a 1.1 sealed and giving it 950 watts and the review written about the SSD the guy was giving it a 1000watts. Not saying you can't. I just wouldn't personally. Fi does underrate their subs though. Anyway, the OP won't be sending that much to the sub so nobody has to worry
-
Havoc vs Q Ascendant Audio is owned by Fi, so they are basically the same company. No worries on quality there. You could also do an Icon. I've heard nothing but good about them. I honestly cannot stack up a Q against an Icon, as I have never heard an Icon, but I have plenty of experience with the Q and Havoc. Good luck my friend. Believe me, the research is worth it.
-
Yeah I do too. Outta curiosity, why would you recommend 1 or 2 2x4's as opposed to 8 1 inch dowels?
-
Can I please see those graphs? Gimme a few... I'll post up the graphs from Termpak design software.... You'll be embarrased as to how the Xcon fits against any Fi subwoofer... REALLY??? Sweeeet. I love graphs. Just tell me where they are. Did you test the subs sealed or ported? And to clarify, I wasn't trying to say that I didn't believe the Xcon wasn't as "good" as any Fi sub, I just want to compare them.

What more can you want? Scott's a great guy. This company goes anywhere BUT shitty CS! x2. never dealt with him personally, but hear and see nothing but good things about their customer service. I've only talked to him over the phone once, but he solved my problem within 2 minutes... All emails have been very polite as well. He doesn't always respond, but I can only imagine how many emails he gets. Nick has always been great too... -

4 Q's magnets have broken since they've been in production. Pretty small number IMO. For your application, I would seriously recommend the Q, but even more I would recommend an Ascendant Audio Havoc. Absolutely amazing sub. The Q and Havoc are very similar, and if the Q has BP, the power handling is very alike. The Havoc will be a tad bit louder and lower frequencies, but either sub will match your goals IMO.
-
It will handle it's rated power easily and even more with the copper coil*... The BP option should really be used if you plan to run 900~1000+ on the sub. You're good to go! *not much though... negligible.
-
you want a BL. that amp will work fine on the dual 2ohm voice coil model. X2. Please do NOT get the Q
-
Haha! Trust me allthread/threaded metal was my FIRST idea, but then the realization that it couldn't work occurred. Dowels should work I hope. I'm thinking about using 1 inch dowels and doing 8 braces. That would knock me down to 4.453 cu.ft., which really isn't far from 4.496 lol.
-
But your selling your subs.....?
-
that indeed is a very efficient way to brace without taking up space !!
-
Aight. Will do. I'd love to use threaded rod, but as I (and AlanHall) said, I can't have it poke out of the bottom. I DEFINITELY do not have room for a layer on the bottom, so looks like I'm suck with bracing it. I'll try it and post up results!

what do you think about the specs on this woofer
nick_19 replied to Quentin Jarrell's topic in Test 1, 2, 3...
Very specific. Looks good to me. Pretty good for a 10". Nice Qts. and motor strength.... xmax is good too. I'd try it out.
