  1. So I was using this box for my current 12" IDQ sub. The opening was ofcourse cut larger to accept the 12" sub since the box was designed for a 10. Was asking around and the idea was to use this design for my Icon sub that I purchased since I was getting rid of the IDQ. I downloaded the pre-designed enclosures for the Icon and after seeing them, I'm a bit unsure about now using my current box for this sub. Do you guys think the box below would work fine for the Icon? My current box is 1.45 cu ft @ 32hz. I knew it was going to be on the small size, but was told it would work fine. My main problem is space in the trunk of my car. I dont want a huge box and the 12 1/2" height of this current box works perfect to slide under the rear deck in the trunk. Thoughts?

Doubting my box for newly purchased Icon

Ah ok. Mine has some, but I can still hear it rattle. I was planning on getting some CCF for it, so maybe I'll play around with the rear speakers when I put that in.

What did you do about the rear deck cover? I would assume it would rattle like crazy with all that air pushing it up..?

Doubting my box for newly purchased Icon

Cool. I've actually been giving that some thought to try and think of a way to improve on that. Hadn't thought of removing the rear speakers to do it though. I just know its alot louder with the rear seat(s) down so I was thinking of trying to create a port/vent of sorts in the rear decklid and doing something with the carpet/cover to make it appear factory still. Thanks for the info!

Doubting my box for newly purchased Icon

Naw, I appreciate the info and in all honesty, I had never thought of the pressure from the trunk causing issues on the rear speakers. With some of the electronic I've just noticed times where the sounds will somewhat "circle" around me. Could just be me though. With the bass response comment, could you elaborate more on that? Is it because of the lack of speakers allowing the it to vent to the cabin? Or am I completely wrong?

There's been a decent number of times with some of the music I listen to where the rears are really pronounced. I guess I like the "surround sound" effect.

I think his purpose was for strength/bracing. I could be wrong though.

Doubting my box for newly purchased Icon

Both. Right up against the cross brace behind the rear seat and also right up (within a few cm) of the rear speakers. I want to keep the rear speakers so no worries on the lateness haha.

Doubting my box for newly purchased Icon

Got the box built. Still needs carpet though. I want to mount the old "skirt" to the box so I can carpet it all as one single peice as well. Turns out the double baffle/flush mount is a bit harder that I figured it would be be, but the size of the box caused that issue. IMAG1935 by riored4v, on Flickr IMAG1936 by riored4v, on Flickr

    Shipping times good this month?

Yikes. That's a long wait. I spoke with Aaron before ordering and he mentioned they were running ahead of the 21day turntime quoted on the site, but I'm thinking that may not be the case. Ordered my ICON at the beginning of the month and still haven'theard anything. Fwiw, I'm not upset about it....just really wanting the sub

Memorial Day Sale! Save on USA built products.

Wished I would have waited on ordering my ICON. Hate to cancel and reorder under the sales event though since I'm sure the wait time will be even longer now.

    Grille for an Icon?

For some reason a mesh grille with spacers sounds like taking ugly and multiplying it haha. I might go with the bars since they may help a little, but I cant seem to figure out a good option with the mesh grille ideas.

    Grille for an Icon?

I really hate to even ask, but are there any good subwoofer grille recommendations? I use my trunk pretty often, and even with my current sub I get nervous about things rubbing up against it, or worse. As much as I dont want to cover up the Icon sub I ordered, I also dont want to ruin it, especially since I'll be packing my trunk full with an upcoming road trip. Any grille suggestions?

    ICON 12- delivery time.

I'll keep my fingers crossed. Building my box this weekend, which be roughly the 21 day mark. Getting pretty excited to get my ICON.

Does anyone know if this is roughly the current turnaround time?

    Grille for an Icon?

Correct. I was just using that as an example of a screen with a good amount of clearance. (I probably wasn't clear, sorry)

    Grille for an Icon?

yea, and the extended ring around the sub wouldnt work out for my due to lack of mounting space on the surface of the box. I saw JL had some nice screens that stuck out a good ways from the surface of the sub, but it says JL on them... http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7419_JL-Audio-SGR-12W6v2.html

    Grille for an Icon?

Sorry, 12". I was looking at those over on Sonic's site, but I almost feel like a screen/mesh type cover would be best to really protect the sub since stuff would be able to slip past those bars. Main concern with some of the full covers is that there is enough room to allow the sub to fully flex.

Yup, heard back from him on Friday and again this morning. Working on trying to get an order placed using his product.

    Thermo-Tec sound suppresor?

Anyone tried this stuff? I probably should have asked before using it, but just curious if anyone else has and hearing opinions on it. I feel like its worked to some extent, but I also still have a fair amount of rattles. I know i need more of it to place on my inner panels, but my main focus has been on the trunk area. http://www.thermotec.com/products/14600-suppressor-acoustical-heat-control-mat.html http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004PILLZG/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
