  1. well might be makin a trade for a 15" d1 nightshade. i currently have a 15" hdc3 in a 4.7 cube box @ 38 hz using 3 4" aeros. just wanted to see how it would perform in this size of a box? dont have the time and money at the moment to built a new one. but will be when i get some extra time and money.

oh and using an aq 2200d for power

4.7 cubes is wayy too big. Jacob recommends about 3 cubes. I'm running mine in 4 cubes which is doing just fine, but is probably too big.

  2. i didnt know how they would sound with 1500 rms on each. I read mostly people putting a 3000d on each.

My 15" Nightshade gets dam loud off of 1500 rms. It would put up better numbers if I didn't have a trunk car.

  3. Hey everybody i was wondering if I will get a better spl level if i face my sub towards the front instead of the sub facing the rear of the trunk.... My enclosure is 3.0 cf3 tuned @ 35 hz... Fi BL 15.... the car is a 05 kia spectra lx

You may or you may not. To the ear, it wont sound as loud firing into the cabin, but it may or may not gain you on the mic. I'm louder in my civic trunk firing into the trunk. If I sealed it off and had it firing into the cabin, I would most likely be louder that way (SPL wise).

  4. Ok so i'm changing the substage again. I also changed jobs. I work for a shop now that sells mostly cadence and RE/US Amps. Mainly RE for subs and cadence for mids and highs. So i'm looking at a system rebuild. Probably XXX comps for my Mids and hi's I only have a front stage. Gonna leave the Sundown SAX100.4 on them for the time being. So heres where it boils down.

I'm looking to make some NOISE minimum 150s but be able to blend them into the system as well for daily driving. I'm looking at either 2 SX 10s or possibly 1 XXX or MX 12.

My car really doesn't want to handle 2kw daily but we gonna make it work. Getting at least 1 kenetic 2400 probably for the back and i already have an honda sized optima yellow top under the hood with all 1/0 guage wire. The stock alternator is WEAK. I might look into getting it rewound down the road if i decide to keep the car.

So I'm asking for advice on the subs and amp combo. Like to keep it in the US Amps family. If you have any input greg that would be great. Or perhaps i'll just give you a call later if i have some time.

It's going in my Honda Fit. Behind teh back seat port and woofer firing up. Should have plenty of room for which ever setup we go with.

The Goal. Get loud when i want to shut people down or compete (aka show all the people around here what 2 10s or 1 12 is really capable of. And blow all the kicker 15s out). Sound good when i'm just jammin. I really like the LOW LOWs I'd like to be able to play 20 and 30s with Authority. If you feel me. I guess its hard to explain. Sorry i realize i started rambling about half way through

If you're looking for 150's....you might what to look into a pair of 15"s like stated earlier. Most likely not gona do it with a single 12 or pair of 10's on just 2000 watts.

  5. Oh it def hits hard and that Kicker is definetly enough for it. More power wont do too much else for it. I have a Sundown 1500 on 2 15" BLs & im hitting around 150db. The BL is what you want, not the Q at all.

    are you huh?

  6. Thats right. Thats why I noted what my impedence rise was. but most ppl look at non reactive loads. which is the .5 in this case.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you measure your impedence rise? I'm kind of interested to see where mine is at.

  7. Update:

I decide to do another test, but this time with roughly half the power.

Before i started the temp of the amp was 74 F

I played music for 19 mins.

The tempurature this time was 77.5 F on the power terminal side, and 84.8 F on the RCA side. Pretty much the same as the fult tilt test.

So further conclusions are these temps seem to me regular operating temps at this low ohm.

Well since impendence rise never goes below 1.1 ohms, in actuality it should perform fine at that load; shouldn't it?

  8. i think re tuneing would be a good start, try and plug one of your aeros and see if it helps?

^^^ That's exactly what you don't want to do. I have four 4" aeros for just my one 15" Nightshade and plug two for daily. I would say use three 6" aeros and plug one for daily.

  9. oh wow then ill probably just leave them stock. but what the heck are circle ports? do they not use as much room as a regular port?

They displace very little because of how thin the ports are compare to 3/4 mdf. http://www.psp-inc.com/ for info...but get them from partsexpress.com they're much cheaper from them.

  10. oh but should i get any options on the subs or should i just leave them stock?

You don't need any options with that power. They will still get plenty loud off of 600 watts per sub. I recommend that you port and use circle ports. You will save on a good amount of space vs a slot port.
