  1. I notice somethin today.

Before when i tried to reset the gains with out the use of a bass boost (it was set at half) i just unplugged the remote knob from the cord and went about reseting it. There is a comp today so i plugged it back in just incase i needed to use it, but once i plugged it it and adjusted it to zero. now there is no bass. then i turned it back up to half and unplugged it. and its like there bass boost has a memory of where the remote knob was at even when its unplugged? Is that right?

also its making me think i may have messed up the boost. Like if i set the gain with no boost. and plug in the remote knob with it at half boost, then turn down the remote knob. so now its like i have negative boost. If you can understand my explination.

edit: i played with it again and it seems to just have a memory of where it was. if i turn it down to zero with it unplugged and plug it back in it goes to zero. so no negative boost either. But should it have a memory like that

isn't the knob a remote gain knob?

  2. What is your ssf set at on your amp?

I tried to put it at about 20hz. I couldnt tell when i played a 20 hz the effect it was having. I can still play 10hz and 15hz

so it really doesn't make sense. Same goes for my LPF I tried setting aroudn 80hz.

Okay so your saying it shouldn't have made much of a difference and should still be about 33hz?

  3. In that case it will be about 7.1ft^3 @ 32hz after all displacements

    oh lol good stuff.

wow your really helpful. Thanks a lot. I'm going to start figuring out how to calculate this stuff by myself, I can figure out the cubic feet but thats bout it

That didn't turn out bad at all

    nevermind

nvm as in thats wrong ?

I'll take a look at that and start testing.

    18" only one of them

  4. In that case it will be about 7.1ft^3 @ 32hz after all displacements

  5. After all displacements I got about 7.57ft^3 @ 31Hz.

Did i forget to mention the top is double baffle with flushmount, so 1.5" of mdf?

IDK if you got that, but im fine with 7.57ft^3 at 31 hz :)

I really hope your right cuz I have absolutley no problem with 31 hz

  6. what size btl?

im getting around 7.63 cubes after port displacement, not including woofer or bracing. and a 35 hz tuning. tuning is probably a little less that that with the L-turn you got on the end.

I don't think it is an L turn, is it?

did you do it as internal dimensions or external?

  7. "Here is the port now (the 21" measurement comes from the 22", I had to cut an 1" off to get it to equal the port opening on the back of the box):"

    messedup.jpg

That doesn't make to much sense. You should have had to cut 1.5" to get the port height of 5" at the back of the box.

It really doesn't, it might not be exactly 21" but I figured I cut an inch off. I can go cut .5" off soon.

i guess try it at 20.5 or 21", either way works

  8. yeah you realy need to fix that port fast you can ruin those subs fast by unloading them (playing far below tuning)

    i do hair tricks IMO.

    chit yeah thats true....

Wanna point me in the directin to calculate port tuning? No one is helpin me out/can't help me out, so I wanna find it wihtout rebuilding hte box. I can live with 35hz but if too much higher then its rebuild.

  9. Ye id redo the whole box, thats just me though.

hahah yeah, screw it, it sounds good. I will try out a side port or just another slot port next time, but I'm going to finish the system before any rebuilding.

  10. Ye i saw your thread on smd, i would fix the port asap. although i dont know what it's tuned to.

Is the length of the port shorter or longer than your original plans?

I think its .5" longer, but also a little bit skinnier by like 1.5". IDK... If i were to fix it, it would mess up the entire box... the two tops are on, the flushmount is glued on to the baffle below, and then theres screws and I jsut think that it would basically be junking hte box....

  11. Play a lower tone and hair will fly ;)

I need to find out my tuning because it doesnt seem near as loud. I played 30 and 35 hz, those seemed decently loud but more of destroying the car than bass. I wil try it soon

  12. Alright so I have my BTL in my ported box (tuning is messed up I have to redo it I think) and I am powering it with a 1200 watt hifonics with chit 4 guage. Waiting on installing my batts, big 3, and 2 ought. I was playing hz tests and I was like fudge it its moving some air, lets see if i can do a hair trick. So I had this girl put her hair in my window and I rolled it up a till there was about 3 inches left. I played a 40hz tone, I STILL dont know what my tuning is but this gets pretty loud, and it was moving her hair! Not all of it but it was making it flap in the window between the outside and inside of the car.

What do you guys consider a hairtrick? Ive seen them with windows up and down, IDK, I know its not amazing, but still pretty impressive in my view. Gets loud.

  13. Alright, I can get this amp for 350$ maybe a little cheaper. Would this be good for an 18" btl? I don't want to push 4400 rms, becuase my box is 7cb ft, so I figure I could just put the gain down a great amount. I know these are power hungry, but aren't tehy like 450 amp draw? I would have 2 C&D tech batteries (88 amp/hr with a rating of 340 watts/cell), 2 ought wiring, 200 amp alt, and soon down the line upgraded under the hood batt. Would that be sufficient? Would these be a good match if I set the gain according to like 2500 watts?
