  1. the quaility of the amp has nothing to do with it taking a dump, he's runing a 2200+ wrms on a stock electrical. How many guys u know does that, i'm just surprised it lasted that long.

first off, like i said earlier, i was running it @ 2 ohms, so i already lose 900 potential watts right off the bat. second of all, i have a voltage meter, and am aware when i am clipping. i was running no where near what that amp was capable of producing, even at 2 ohms. it had nothing to do with how big of an amp it was. i could run a saz 3500d on stock electrical, but theres no way id ever use even half of it. i could just keep the gain knob down. so im not trying to hate, but your statement is kind of ignorant.

I must be blind as heck, this guy has a bxi 2600 amp. hooked up to a stock electrical with only one battery, no in line fuse what-so-ever!!!, (250 amp recommended) playing his music hard for ten minutes,at 2 ohms. any he calls my statement ignorant??? how many amps/voltage u think he is pulling, even at 2 ohms(1200-1400wrms) it's quite a bit, .. i call this user error, that's why we all upgrade to multiple batteries, fuses, multiple runs of 1/0 wire and high output alternators. so we don't fry our amps. i don't care what kind of amp he has, it could be Sundown, but on what he's got. it to would be on borrowed time.

Actually there are more people than you think that run that much power on stock electrical and dont know why they do but I even did at once (which wasnt smart of me but nothing happened besides amps getting hot every now and then). Yeah buddy quality plays a large part in the role (look at how many hifonics amps crap out on people when it isnt the user's fault), you can try and beef up sorry quality amps all day but there own track records proves them wrong. Were not saying they wont work, Ive heard hifonics amps and at one time thought they were great till I seen the failure rate. Be smart about your logics (they would be good budget amps if they knew how to last), I would pick Audioque amps over these since at least they can last. It was part user error rushing to put it in and the amp itself (enough said). In life the quality of anything has to do with how long it last and that is common sense (not the price of something or the name brand but the QUALITY of the product or service shows how it will endure over time).

    :fatchicks:

Now Jay ,i would love to see a chart of how many amps Hifonics sold and how many that has taken a dump, how can u say that,( High failure rate) not knowing how many was sold. well when u out sale others 10 - to- one i guess u will have some bad amps. i wonder what big name brand amps keeps DBr backed up with repairs. I've been to other forums and the hifonics owners has nothing but praise to say about thier amps. that's funny when other name brand amps takes a dump, u say it's user error. show me amps with Zero failure rate.

and what defines a good quailty amp. Longivity?? Power? or user know how?? I people would follow the manufacturs specs , amps wouldn't blow as often.

  3. GO TO TERMPRO.COM, they have a pinned topic about it, thats why i say do your homework. IN 1984 Wayne Harris was the first to use stiffening caps in a spl setup. in the Terminator so for him caps work. Go to pasmag website and they also have a review on a stinger cap. The rockford t15kw uses a lot of caps, they also have a article in Car Audio Mag explaining how the caps work for them. like i said do your homework, and stop beliving hear say. Car sound mag did a review on a Alumapro cap 5 aka The Cap with nothing but good reviews, Here we have three articles showing that caps work, but i've found no articles proving that they don't. Go figure

  4. Sundown FTW! Great owner, great product! Plus db-r as the authorized repair shop, It's a no brainer ... SUNDOWN!

why does it need to be repaired, " remember it has more quailty parts" than the AQ. That alone should tell u that any amp can break, reguarless of what's name is on it. It's funny how when a Sundown amp breaks, it's user error, but when any other brand amp breaks, it's the manufactors problem. Get a new amp, and run it within specs, not at .5 ohms like other people do, and then they wonder why thier amp just blew up.

  5. you get what you pay for... motto always holds true.

well they are the same price..... so thats the whole delema... is which one is better for that price. refurbished saz3000 or a New AQ 3500.

Does any one have any pros or cons of each one? so far i have the pro of sundown using more quality parts. anything else?

question? how do u know exactly what parts both amps use, or are you going by here-say. and i would get a brand new amp over any used amp, reguardless . until someone shows me pictures of the different parts and can prove it, i'll settle for the new amp. People always say, (this amp has better quailty parts) lol oh really

  6. I just got 2 Fi Q15's with the BP power and put them on an Audioque

2200d amp. I have listed the specs of the system to see if everything is tuned right? Because the subs just are not hitting as hard as I think

    they should.

    Specs:

Box made of 3/4 mdf. The box is 8 cuft NET tuned to 32hz with 106sqin of

    port.

    external dimensions-

    43" wide

    30" tall

    17" deep

Port on the far left -

    28.5" high

    4" wide

    keep port 4" wide throughout.

The right port wall is - 28.5" high x 11.5" deep

The port wall to the right of that is 6.25" deep x 28.5" high

And here is a pic of the box. Shizzzon came up with this idea for us and it turned out great, he helped me a lot in doing this system.

    IMG_0048.jpg

The amp is an Audioque 2200d and we ran one + of the amp to the + on coil 1

and ran the - of the amp to the - on coil 2, and ran a wire from the - on

coil 1 to the + on coil 2. We did this to both subs to run a 1 ohm load

because we got dvc 1 ohm subs from you.

We tuned the amp as, LPF set between 100-110, subsonic filter set at about

30 hz, bass boost set at 0, and the gain set at 3/4, and then set the volume

on the head unit to 27 and turned the remote bass control till the clipping

light started to flash with the bass.

We can all 0 gauge wire to the amp and have a 1900 amp battery.

Does all this seem to be right? Because the subs just arnt hitting like I

    taught they would?

If you need any more info I can try and get it for you.

    -Alex

did u play with the bass boast yet, it's there for a reason

  7. In anyone's experience, does it matter if the elbow of an L-Port is angled or kept at 90*?

As far as sound quality or output is concerned..

It would be easier to build boxes with a 90* angle like that found on the RE box calculator.

I've always used an angled elbow, as shown below..

It just seems to make sense, but just wondering!

    box4.jpg

if anything it may help on the sq

  8. Is there a way to wake up both amps and have them power on instead of having to wire both with the (don't remember name) "wake up wire" ? I looked on the back of my cd player and it doesn't look like there's a spot to put it. But there is a slot for "sub out:" on it hat looks like its just a rca cable connection....hrmmm

Man thats gansta (wake up wire )

  9. I plan on buying a HDC318 dual 2ohm with alum coil & upgraded spider pack and Im giving 4k to the sub The AQ puts out 3500rms @1ohm And the 4k2d puts out 4200rms @2ohms @ 12.8volts @ 5000+wrms @2ohms @ 13.8volts. So what amp would be better and more efficent between a aq3500d and a stetsom 4k2d?

I would go Sundown SAZ-3500D, FTW!

    How much is it?

they were on pre-sale for like 800 ish. as for now you have to contract a rep and ask.

nahh bro? they're $1,075 now and the AQ3500 is @550, almost 2 to 1 ratio there, u can do the math, and look at the reviews Jacob of sundown did and you will see how much the power diff is. the sundown put out more power, but cost a lil more. Now for guys on a budget, we would get the Aq, but if you have , about 500 extra dollars that u don't need, get the Sundowm. Don't get me wrong both are great amps. the Sundown even better, but the price is what's gets everybody. And i like how Jacob compares his amps (think he's a lil bias towards his amps) since he owns the joint!! i wanna see some price comparisons, what's out there that can compare with Aq3500 price wise? hell if i had the money i would get the Sundown, but i'm poor

  10. I think two 275 amp alternators is a little too much. One should do, and with batteries, and the Big 3 upgrade. But what you stated is fine. Where are you located, maybe someone local can troubleshoot for you

    [/quote

go with the two alternators and a couple of batts, my good those 2500 comes with a 300 amp fuse and you have two2500, so i say you don't have enough power right now to properly run those 2 monster amps

  11. The best luck I've had with painting boxes is using some type of textured paint (such as fleck paint or cheap truck bed protector), letting it dry, and then painting over that. Don't know why it works, but it really helps keep the paint from soaking in, although you cannot have a nice smooth surface. Good luck!

Surprising to know that resin makes a box weaker. Thanks for the info.

I paint mine the same way, and it really works

  12. Here's the exact numbers...

All were tested using the Single Nightshade 1.2ohm resting roughly 2ohm with rise

Amp Power Produced Consumed Watts Produced Watts Consumed Eff

    Swiss SDX1000A 45.2v 13.1A 13.1v 57.5A 592 753 78.6%

    Visonik 4000XD 45v 20.2A 12.95v 74.2A 909 961 94.6%

    Sundown SAZ3000D 77v 31A 13.1v 219.5A 2387 2875 83%

    Massive P-3000D 91v 37.8A 12.0v 360A 3440 4320 79.6%

Massive is the only 2-ohm rated amp... The rest are rated at 1-ohm

Tested with the car off 2A 12v power supply connected.... The visonik kept clipping out... I still don't know why... If I have time I'll test the other one that I have.. The massive clipped on full burps-low voltage.. my batts were getting tired by then.

i'm sorry, but the visonik is rated at only 2 ohms mono, that's prob why it's clipping
