Subs Amps or Enclosures A Vs B Vs C

i think install is 60% of what a sub is going to sound like...20% car's electrical system...5% brand of product(if a quality brand)...15% amount of amplifier now the only thing i dis-agree with so far is this...not all subs(or other products) are created equal...a $30 sony xplod may do alright in a proper enclosure, but realisitcly, it isn't going to be used properly and it isn't going to last. also, i'm sure that $30 sony will not get as loud as say a $200 brahma in any givin size with both being in proper installs. there are disticnt differences in quality levels of subs and hence, distinct differences in performance of same. now..when comparing say...a $200 brahma to a $300 kicker..things get a lot tighter. this is where things like power, enclosure and application come into play..and which sub is better for what. in the end of it all...and all things being equal(subs in proper enclosure's with proper power and plenty of juice) any sub will sound good and get loud.. and wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    Memphis LVS.....

about the removable tweeter..quite a few companies do that, so i should've deleted that part...sorry about the subs...the gimick about the mclass is that (like i said earlier) today u buy a 10", don't like it, tomorrow u can buy the 12" or 15" cartidge and not have to buy a whole new sub. as far as adire and re doing that, i've never heard of it...just like the solo x and rfl being feild rebuildable,(of course they only come in one size) but the point being..u can't change sizes of the other subs..with the mclass u can and save a little money in the process wheeeewww and wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    Memphis LVS.....

here's a brief statement concerning the new "m" clas subs, and componets.... Memphis Car Audio Wins Two Innovations Awards At '04 CES Thursday, February 26, 2004 by Rob Granger Memphis Car Audio reports that the company won big at the recent Consumer Electronics Show, with two products featured in the prestigious Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase for 2004. The Memphis M3 Modular Motor Subwoofer and the MClass Multi-Synchronous component speaker each were honored by the Innovations Award judges. Memphis Car Audio was one of only a few manufacturers to have multiple products in the showcase. "Both of these products feature important new innovations that will benefit consumers," states Jeff Triplett of Memphis Car Audio. "It's always exciting to make equipment that is better or smarter than before. That's what we have accomplished with these two products." The MClass speaker cone is made of woven Kevlar and glass-fiber. At the center of this speaker cone is a removable pure-aluminum dome tweeter. The MClass tweeter can be easily removed and replaced with a "phase plug." This allows the listener to mount the tweeter separately providing unmatched installation flexibility. The M3 Modular Motor Subwoofer was honored for its breakthrough modular design that allows the cartridge, consisting of the complete basket and cone assembly, to be replaced in minutes. Thanks to the M3 design, the woofer magnet and motor structure can be unbolted and attached to a new cartridge assembly quickly and easily. Repairs can be made in the retailer's shop rather than at the factory, saving both time and money. The prestigious Innovations Design and Engineering Awards Showcase gives consumer technology manufactures the opportunity to have their newest products judged by a preeminent panel of independent industry designers, engineers, and journalists. For the ninth year, the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) acted as advisors to the Innovations Design & Engineering Showcase. http://www.memphiscaraudio.com so whatcha all think? similar to the replaceable cone in the solo x and rfl..only u can change size as well(i know the above statement doesn't say that..but Scott[me dealer] did..hehe)....sweet! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  10. i won't know until this weekend...and i'll post what happened wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  11. today iinstalled 2 15" idq's in individual sealed compartment..maybe 1.75ft^3 a piece, being pushed off a memphis pr series amp(the big 2 channel one) and here's the deal...after a few bass hits..it quits playin....one sub sucks in and the other pushes out. u turn the h/u for a few seconds, it'll start playing again and then uit again. here is what i checked.. 1) the amp never goes into protect mode and doesn't shut off when the subs quit playin...also the amp was benched about a month ago because of the same problem..different car...tested ok 2) all connections are tight..had to fix a few on the box terminals 3) changed from mono bridged to stereo to play with the impedence a little ( the subs are ran in series on the vc's) still did the same thing..even reverse polarity to make sure the subs were in phase...they were 4) ran it for a minute with only one sub(the one that pushes out at cut off) and it didn't do it, but the connection was loose on the other box terminal..which i fixed 5) i think it's the sub that sucked in at cut off, because of what happened in #4..but what is causing it to shut both subs off? should i recommend new subs..or just get them checked out and fixed? what causes what i'm describing? any help will be appreciated.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  13. it's gotta be the amp..i tried just one sub today..and it still quit. the subs weren't in phase....the "professional" installers who originally wired the box, wired one backward at the quick connect...but even after that was changed..all it took is one good whack on the box to shut it off....i don't get it... anyway..tomorrow the amp is going to the local memphis dealer to get benched.and while there they are going to check the vc's to make sure one of them isn't shorted out.... they are dvc 4...and the impedence needed is mono 4ohm..stereo 2 ohm wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

it's all good...i apologize for firing back the way i did....i guess, like u, ur post just rubbed me the wrong way..i accept urs, if u'll accept mine. btw..on ca.com, maybe u've seen it...i posted a thread where i compared the subs i'm looking at(magnum d2 and treo ssx) with the pair i have in(treo ss) in the boxes i have currently on winISD.... and even in the smaller boxes, ur d2 had a flat response, though it wasn't quite as loud as my ss's(which were really peaky) and ur's were louder then the treo ssx's...so maybe the d2 will work in a smaller enclosure anyway(yeah i know winISD doesn't take everything into consideration, that's why i used the same size box for each woofer)...so the d2's might be in my future...still gotta wait on the 1500d's though (if only the flamers on ca.com could resolve stuff this way) pss...send me a pair of 15's and i'll gladly conduct the treo ss vs magnum d2 test for u! i'll even pay shipping! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  18. ok...soon i will be gettin two memphis 1500d's, so new subs will be in order as my treo ss's won't take that kind of abuse. i am thinking on getting the treo ssx's..so here are my questions.. 1) how does ur sub, in your opinion, stack up to a ssx? will they take 1500 wrms? ssx link<---scroll down to the specs link, plz 2) currently i am running two 15" treo ss's, each in their own box, 2.5ft^3, 25in^2 of port tuned to 34 hz off a memphis 1000d...how would the d2 work in similar enclosures? this is the set-up i will be competeing with in usaci, maybe db drag...would i benefit from ur d2? i know i can go to ur website and read up on the sub, but i would like to hear ur opinion. while i understand basic stuff..the technical stuff is still alien to me. i know how well my current subs work, and they do work well...and i have listened to ssx's being pushed by 1500d's..again, i know that they work well. unfortunetly, nobody around this area has ur subs, has ever heard of ur subs(a select few thta compete has, but they are sponored by kicker) so i am in a pickle. i am wanting to maybe drive a different road, so to speak, and am wanting to try a non mainstream sub, well, possibly. thanks for ur time on this..i appreciate it very much. oh yeah..almost forgot..... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

1970 muscle car specs..times 1971 specs and times 1972 specs and time LS6 chevelle of 1970<---i did say LS8 earlier and was incorrect the new LS2 6.0ltr might end up as the new king of the hill soon i'm leaving the last three links up so anyone can look up their favorite muscle car's 1/4 time and hp ratings and see if it badder then anyone else oh yeah...i can look outside and find "Magnum" on the side of my truck..hehehahaha<----j/k and with that... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    15" d2 vs 15" treo ss..ssx

what i am looking for is a sub that gets loud, but don't necessarly need a huge box to do it. my treo ss's are in 2.5ft^3 and tuned low....i'm not looking to set world records..just looking at getting silly loud, but sounding good too btw..i am considering treo ssx...not the se xxx's basicly...how ur subs compare to treo's line of subs...sql wise. i understand about the spl estimate's..not really looking for that..just a idea if ur sub is the one i'm looking for..mostly because the treo ssx's run close to $900 each..i am looking to be a little more budget minded then that wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  21. memphis 1000d...one ohm stable, not a current hog and puts out more then the rated 1000watts...looks good too!! around $400 on the internet wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

well..if we're technical.... (and i know this thread was dying..but...) the 502 is a gm crate motor..never put in a production gm vehicle....... the 500 caddy is considered the biggest gm motor put in(not countin the new litre things...what does 8.1 work out to anyway?) but the LS-8 454 put in the 70(?) chevelle is considered the biggest baddest production chevy motor of all time...rated at 450 hp and close to 500ftlbs...(or somewhere in that ballbark) oh yeah..the new zz 572 is the new king gm crate motor...610(or 640)hp and 650ftlbs.....can u say, wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
