  1. oh my......

I want to learn how to weld.

welding is easy...it's all about the heat and where it's directed...

you want to grab the torch with both hands at first, keep the wire speed slow, too fast and things splatter quickly, and penetration isn't nowhere what it should be.........................

    oh hell....

    wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

  2. And a hell friggin yes goes to Ryan1's post...

All pr0n has to be PM'd to the moderators for approval before it can be posted...

lol, i can live with that, lol...

THIS COUNTRY WAS MADE GREAT BY DRUNK WHITE MEN.

In Response To: How much alcohol is healthy? How much is not?

(what do you plan on drinking tonight?)

What the fuck is it lately with the handwringing metrosexual guilt? This country was made great by fat white guys who worked their asses off, smoked cigarettes, drank liquor, and ate fucking greasy bacon and eggs for breakfast and God Damned steak and potatoes for dinner. John Fucking Wayne, Sergeant York and every working stiff in America didn't kick ass and take names drinking decaffinated wheat grass and eating a sensible breakfast of bran cereal and no-fat soymilk. They fucking woke up and smoked a Camel, they ate two strips of fucking bacon and they ate a couple damned eggs, fried up in grease. Then they went and worked their fucking asses off without bitching like a bunch of fucking piss ass talking metrosexuals. They made America the greatest fucking nation on earth without the Americans with Disabilities Act and they did it without the fucking EEOC counting heads and they by God didn't give two shits about their fucking cholesterol level and they motherfucking sure didn't EVER say 'I'm on Atkins'. This country wasn't made the most powerful country ever in the history of man by a bunch of whiny cunts counting calories and getting fashion tips from faggots. It was made great by men who worked their asses off, didn't bitch like fucking 12 year old girls bleeding for the first time and if they fucking felt like relaxing after a day of hard work, they By God had a drink. Shut the fuck up, relax, drink a beer or a scotch, smoke a cigarette, eat a steak and be a fucking American Male not some God Damned frenchman.

    A Fuckin MEN!

  4. Furthering Ryan2's post, I got this in an email from my mother the other day:

    To Those of You Born

    1930 - 1979

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE

    1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while

    they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't

    get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby

cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints..

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or

cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on

    our heads.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no

booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no

    brakes.

Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a

    special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one

    actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid

made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight. WHY?

Because we were always outside playing...that's why!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were

back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride

them down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running

into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no

video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no

surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no

    Internet and no chat rooms

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no

    lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in

    us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks

and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not

    put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or

rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who

didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.

They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem

    solvers and inventors ever.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how

    to deal with it all.

If YOU are one of US - CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow

up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of

our lives for our own good.

While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave

    and lucky their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't

    it ?

umm, that's me. wow. and my kid wonders why i preach/bitch loudly, that his ass needs to get outside, lol...

  6. I have never used RP for anything.

I have used cast GTX for years for oil, untill now I use synth on everything. For motor oil is RP all it's cracked up to be?

    It sure looks purdy!

    :D

IMO, unless you beat the piss out of your car the price performance of GTX is hard to beat. Personally even if I use synth in a car I change it so often that the benefits over normal oil in good condition is non-existent. Castrol takes more abuse than most and the only real advantage of synth is that it doesn't breakdown and lose lubrication. Well if you don't let normal oil breakdown, who the fuck cares whether it is synth or not.

The caveat of course is if I have a really expensive engine. IE the M5 gets synth as the extra cost in this case gives me piece of mind, which of course is contrary to my statement above but the last thing I want to have happen is for me to drive that thing hot with crapped out oil in it. And considering everytime I drive her it is hard it seems worthwhile.

and some cars, like my mini, require a syn, or warranty void. part of the reason is the car is step up to recommend oil changes every 12k or so, dependiong upon driving. and that syn has to meet mini standards, or of course be castrol syn, which is what came in the car.

for my truck and motorcycle, they both get syn blend. the truck has an oil change countdown, the bike gets it every 5k, per factory rec, for now. by running a true syn, or syn blend, i know i'm not hurting the engine by going past 3k, which according to a mechanic friend was a joke anyway. by i'll sink a little extra into each oil change just to be safe.

    wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

I would argue that syn-blends are a waste. The petroleum portion can still break down which is the problem with non-synth oils. I'd save the money and just use Castrol GTX or step up and use the full synth.

you think? i bought syn blends on the thought that the syn portion, and it's bonding properties, would help in case of the petroleum part breaking down. also, after talking to my mechanic friend and his notion, well researched notion on his part, that the "breakdown" of petroleum based oils is mostly myth in street driven, normal drivers, that was something i needn't worry about. i don't autocross or anything that would actually lead to a breakdown. even with the offroad play in my truck, it not often enough, nor rough enough (my vehicles don't live near redline evey time i play) to actually worry about it. seems like it's more marketing, or geared to those who abuse, then anything.

    wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

It breaks down from day one, cheaper oils don't even require high heat for this to happen. I don't see any value in the extra dough. All or nothing.

    arrrrrghhhh

    i'm a victim of marketing!!!

    Just my web talk..

But really that is crazy status for her to call up the gym..

    I mean cmon..

    But whatever floats her boat..

In my opinion..if you don't want people thinking your an A** who deserves to have his testicles removed..i wouldn't talk like you'd hit women or anything like that..because people can get the wrong idea. and it doesn't make you look good.

Not trying to be mean, Just trying to help

Equal rights. Women have fought so hard to be treated like men, but they always complain when they're not treated like a "lady." I could go on with this, but we all know it's pointless.

amen. we have a gay policewoman in our department who even thinks the fact that the POWER test requirements shouldn't be different. she believes that she should have to complete it no different then a man's requirement.

of course she failed the easier female's version, but i gotta give her kudo's for the thought.

  13. Anyone recommend a certain company for differential oil?

Lucas with a bottle of GM LSD additive, it's what I put in the Camaro

    RP isn't worth the price

Lucas already has friction modifier in it.

But is it a friction modifier for a LSD though? Just curious...

LSD is the only one that needs the friction modifier.

For some reason I was thinking of Transmission fluids where there are different friction additives, (Type F vs Dextron III for example)

kinda off base a bit, but tom is the only person i've ever seen go AGAINST royal purple. i've read/seen nothing but good things about it. it's what is in my bro-in-laws stang too....

    Goes to page 15070

    OK done... lol

The post we started at and stopped at is there. The time shows it.

    I did it right.

The common courtesy is to mark the beginning with the ending page and the end with the beginning page

    correct....

and you went back and edited the first one. and don't say otherwise, i checked before i posted my comment....and you can always bypass the edited by thing by not checking the box. so no, you didn't do it right. but now you know, next time do it right or i will drop the hammer.

    wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

  15. Always steared away from royal purple just because of there attitude of every oil they make is the end all for all lubricants. There price seemed to always confirmed there attitude. But if its proven I'm always willing to try it

i just tossed out a name, although i did watch teh episode of horsepower tv where all they did was change all fluids over to royal purple synthetics and got a pretty big horsepower gain at the wheels.

i'd wager any good/name brand syn is going to just fine.

    wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

  16. duran, bassaholic.....go back and edit both the first and last posts in your whoring spree to let people know what's going on or i will drop the ban hammer. no bullshit. no more warnings to anyone. if need be, i'll get denim to turn floodcontrol back on..noone will be whoring. edit or hammer, you're pick.

  17. What person in their right mind installs a 4 gauge ground to their head unit?

I am contemplating installing an additional ground to the head unit and I dont have any small wire laying around and have a bunch of 4 gauge laying around. Is it overkill, yes.

Do you guys think I should do it if it fits?

shit, lol, i know of a certain competitor that installs a small cap, 1/2 farad, inline with his headunit...and yep, all 4 guage. works for him.

    wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

  18. But that is where a TIG torch comes in really handy, you can put the heat exactly where you want it. :)

Then again I'm biased and find TIG welding enjoyable. :)

Ok, now I'm really out for the evening.

not only pinpoint the heat, but you can vary the heat as well on the run. it's also way cleaner, less slag/splatter going about.

    wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

  19. Ryan2 or Kent, when welding 2 metals with different wall thicknesses, do you set your welder to the thinner or thicker one, or in between?

For me it all depends on what I am welding and how big the difference is. You can only get full penetration on the thinner material, now you can use a copper backing plate to soak heat out of the thinner material while welding, or put more heat on the thicker material by the way you hold the torch. As long as you get good penetration on the thinner material I'd call it good. What are you welding?

Different subject, one of my biggest problems with MIG welding is that it seems to me a LOT of people never have it turned up hot enough, sure you can get what looks to be a decent bead to sit on the surface, but don't be afraid to turn the voltage and wire speed up. :)

If your interested I have a Lincoln Electric Arc Welding book that I'd be willing to part with (I have two of them), it has about everything you could ever want to know with welding, be it ARC, MIG, TIG, or Gas.

to go along with what he touched on, i usually will have the welder set for the thicker metal and i'l work the torch as to keep most of the heat on the thicker stuff. i'll work at two different speeds, basiclly, i'll drag the puddle over to the thinner stuff just long enough for good penetration and then run it right back over to the thicker stuff, staying longer there for penetration.

ryan2 is right about MIG, most set it up for a nice pretty bead, but little penetration. i'll run up the voltage/wirespeed and make my bead with pace. thinner stuff, run faster, thick stuff, slow down.
