how much will each amp do at 0.5 ohms? i heard 2200 each, and strapped they would do around 4200. is this correct?
also, has anyone wired it to 0.5 ohms and ran it daily? if so, did you have any problems with it?

I am trying to help my cousin with his setup, but i'm not sure what would be better for him.
he has a chevy colorado ext cab. he's set on buying an fi sub, but hes torn between 1 btl and 2 bl's.
He is mainly going for dialy spl.
details:
colorado ext cab.
sundown 3000d.
kinetik 3800
220A iraggi alt.
big three.
now my question is, what would be best for spl? 2 12 inch bl's or 1 15" btl.
the bl's will have more cone area, but the btl's are built to be louder.
(considering the boxes are built to fi's optimal recommendations)
all comments are welcomed, thanks.

Then what does the other subwoofer classes stand for??
BTL = Bustin' Term Labs
BL = Buzz Lightyear
Q= Quality
SSD= Subwoofer is Super Delicious
IB3= I'll Be 3hittin' myself

BL = Buzz Lightyear, seriously. Q = sound Quality.
LOL SERIOUSLY?!?!
i think i may get the bl just cuz its name
haha jk. i guess btl it is

Based off the first sentence after your question. Get the BTL's.
k..but i still wanna be able to listen daily music to it....like rap, hawaiian, rock and all different kinds. is the btl that much different than the bl sq wise?
The quality of the sound has a great deal to do with the set up and install. There are plenty of people running the BTL's daily. As BTL = Built To Last.
thanks.
ive always wondered that haha.
what is bl and q?

truck - 05 chevy colorado
amp - sundown 3500d
elec - 2 kinetik 2000hc's. big three.
box - 4.5 cubic feet tuned @ 32 hz.
two 12 bls' or two 12 btl's?
looking for spl. but i also want musical daily driving.
i know bl's are more musical and btl's are more loud but i wanna know if one has a significant amount of sq or spl compared to the other.
example (not saying its true) : bl's and q's are not much of a difference sq wise, but bl's get very noticably louder.

i thought anything less than 2000 rms you should go BL?
so wouldnt 3500 be less than 2000 per sub?? just saying....
i say bl's.

ok so im about to buy the bl15. been kina back and forth between that and the sunshade but anyway. i was wondering how to get the max potential out of this sub (ie: box size, amp size, what options should i get on it, things of that nature). im not going to be competing, as of now anyway. i will be getting another 15, bigger amp and alt and that later though. but like i said im just wondering how to get the best and deepest bass out of this speaker i possibly can.
u should browse the forums for your answer. maybe the technical section of fi forums.
search the forums before asking questions like this.
btw. its called nightshade, not sunshade LOL.

A fellow competetor in the league I compete in has one (DD) and does a 147+ in a trunk in stock class. The guy who runs the league has 2 10" Fi BL's and is over 150, in a blazer. They are both happy... until one of them breaks is all I am saying.
im leaning towards the bl's actually.
only problem is i can get a used 9515 for $400.
if i get bl's im gonna spend around twice that much for 2 12's.......

First hand experience with Fi, I will give them +rep anywhere Fi is mentioned.
Also, I agree that theoretically more cone area with the same set-up will get you louder. Now, I don't know much about the 9515 but the BLs should be able to handle everything the 3500 throws at them in the recommended enclosures.
so basically fi is the way to go? but then again....ssa forums are loaded with fi users and supporters. i bet if i went to soundpressure forums they would all say the 9500 ha.
does anyone here have experience with the 9500?

don't forget a high output alternator in the equation.
yes i do plan on getting one. i just dont have it right now.
i just have what is posted.
so whats your thoughts?

dam all i need is a one word answer. dd or fi.
It is so far from a one word answer it is not funny. There are way too many unknowns to give an exact answer. Both are high output woofers, but so much is dependant on the enclosure. The pair of 15's should naturally by louder due to cone surface, but there are too many other factors to know for sure. At SSA we care about the details and not mindless inexperienced answers. So let's work on more info to help going in the right direction. In the end the answer will not be known until tested in your install.
ok details.
amp- sundown 3500d
electrical- big 3, 3800 hc kinetik,
truck- colorado
box- dd 4.25 cuft tuned at 32
fi- 6 cuft tuned at 32
anything else needed?

Im guessing this is a 15" Havoc?
Its an SQ woofer, its gonna sound really good, even ported
you guessed right lol. alright cool thanks.
now i just gotta trust my box making skills lol.

Lowend depends on what you tune a ported box to.
And there is a big difference in output going from sealed to ported.
im tuning it to 30 hz. in 5 ft^3.
dammm...i cant decide lol. i want sq but i dont wanna sacrifice output at the same time.

is there much difference in the low end?
what about output?
i hear only 2 DBs. true or not?

It's worth the money. Get the Kicker 1/0 amp kit and you'll be all set up.http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_3935_Kicker+PKD1.html
There's the link if you wanna get that.
If not, id suggest some Knu 1/0 which can be bought here:
http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMaster.c...0Fleks%20Kable#
im just gonna pay 170 for wire and installation.
i rather do that than pay $120 for wires and fuse blocks and stuff and install it myself

It won't get near the power it needs. Order some 1/0 and you'll be happy$5 a foot at a nearby store. expensive
im guessing i would need about 20 ft? so $100 for dam wire

i was just wondering for the the power/ground wire, it says its recommended 0 gauge wires. but i have 4 gauge. will it be ok to use it or will it damage the amp and/or go into protection? has anyone used 4 awg for that amp?
