Thank you Mark and Aaron for the outrageous deals. I almost bought two icons and instead got the xcons for a little bit cheaper. I already have the test box ready to go. Can't wait to throw them in. The icon was the best driver I've ever had my hands on. Im sure the Xcon will blow me away. Thank you again guys, much appreciation

I just noticed that Alpine improved their woofers and they seem to be much better than before. Alpine electronics With the addition of a pole vent, slimmer mounting depth, and bigger motor. I'm not really a fan of many mainstream manufactors but i'm curious to see how these do. Anyone hear about them yet?

got the new R installed in the gf's truck. I paid 180 shipped for it which is great cause about $100 of that would be just shipping for another sub here. Anyway i put it in a temporary sealed box of 1 cu.ft net. I'll build a dual ported setup later on. From hearing my Icon everyday to hearing the R was a let down honestly but yet good output on 500rms. The one thing i hated about it was it has NO low end. The Icon blasts the low ends. The R does however have significant output in the 40hz range where i'm to assume the cabin gain helped out. The one thing nice about the Icon was the output didn't change much in the entire bandwidth. This was with no processing. I couldn't point out a frequency that was significantly louder than another. I love that. As far as sound quality the Icon is better but the R isn't bad. The R has an absolutely silent motor. The transient response is better than the previous model but not as precise as the Icon. Before i say anything about muddiness i'll have to play with box sizes, then again i might get rid of the thing and give the gf my old Icon and get newer ones. IDK yet. All in all for the price it isn't bad. Would i buy one for myself in another vehicle? No. I'd pay a lil extra to be happy with the driver's performance.

About 40 bucks per driver. Cross the hpf on the HU pretty low and run the front rca's to my amp for the mid basses. Then get the rca output off of that amp and run them to my amp for the 4x6s and set the hpf on the amp to about 125 Hz. 60ish-350ish with approximately 75 watts @ 4 ohms There isn't much room my kick panels. I still want leg room. I'm considering Q forms, but I may build them. How much mounting depth are you working with?

It's about time another video of the DCON was up. I've been wanting to get a pair but the shipping has been WAY to high. I was going to put a video up because sadly, alot of the people that decide on woofers look at videos of them in order to make their choice. Sooo at least it helps advertise the DCON a little more. Ya i was surprised to see that too. It's definitely a turn in the right direction for them. I'm mainly curious because i did have two 12 R's that were alright but i still love my icon much more. I'm thinking i'll buy one for the girlfriend, since i can get one cheap. I use her truck as the guinea pig anyway.

I was curious to see how many people that want performance exhaust want to combine it with their system? Personally i wouldn't give up the good sounding exhaust. Straight pipe exhaust does throw in a lot of extra noise but i just wouldn't be able to not have it. What do you guys think about your exhaust noise combined with your "SQ setup"? How many do it and who's given the exhaust up? I know a lot of people here have gone over and beyond measures in order to keep your cab quiet and seperate from outside noise.

From what i understood too much back pressure or too little can mess with your engine but it would have to be at extreme levels to hurt anything on a stock motor. The reason for the x-pipe is to create that back pressure. Which my exhaust does have. This is what x-pipe sounds like( on the silverado anyway but it's pretty similar with any v8):Silverado straight x-pipe This is straight back exhaust: Silverado straight back Maybe you guys think both sound shitty but the first one is what i like and the 2nd one just sounds horrible

I've never had any problems at all with the exhaust done that way. In fact my old '89 sierra has 150k mi on it and it's had minor things go wrong with it. Never any engine problems...Knock on wood. It was maintened very well though. Preventative maintenance will do miracles in the long run. Anyway i didn't want to start this thread to talk about me. More of what you guys do or think

I guess true straight pipe would be no cats and no mufflers. So in reality its not true. I have cats but no mufflers

Wow i would have thought someone wanted exhaust on their car/truck here whether it be any type of vehicle. I'm refering to all setups here not just "SQ". I was mainly thinking the people with V8's would be the ones saying something. The 4 and 6 bangers i think sound horrible with any kind of aftermarket exhaust. When i say straight pipe it sounds like you guys are thinking of that annoying crackling that sooo many rednecks put on their trucks and think it sounds good..haha. Mines definately nothing like that. Its loud as hell yes, but it sounds real low with no real crackle. Very similar to a muscle car. In fact my cousin has a '69 Chevelle that sounds really similar to my truck. Only real difference is he's got H-pipe and I have the X-pipe. There is a little sound difference. The H-pipe is a little higher pitched. I know a lot of people hate any exhaust that's louder than stock because i get complaints everyday but i would think someone would want a panty droppin exhaust to go with panty droppin audio. The only sad part is women only compliment my exhaust and not the audio part. That's got to change here soon...

HOLY SHIT!!! I do a lot of bodywork and that is plain outrageous!! I've replaced the flares on the dually and they were in the $1000 dollar range
