  1. Not sure if this is the best place to put this...

I'm on a few other forums and I know in the past vendors have had some killer Black Friday sales. They usually last for like two days so a lot of peeps get in on it. Do the vendors here ever do that? Last year I saved $200 on suspension parts that I thought I'd never get and this year its time for an audio upgrade. If there's none here does anyone know of any sweet ones?

  2. the only thing that can really make a difference is the fact that fi is offering free BP power option right now on the Q's, didn't see tho, are you trying to run it sealed?

i might be running mine sealed why? i listen to a lot of everything and i'm sure a 1000W sub will bump when i want it to anyways. or am i wrong? all i gather is that a sealed box will make the bass tighter and a ported box will push more air and boom more. i can always change the box too if it comes down to it.

the other thing is i have a single cab truck so i might just do a sealed box because space is limited and i dont know if i'll have enough room to accommodate a box that'll make the sub sound good.

  3. Buy one of each!

Build a box for both using the suggested enclosure guidelines. Test each one to find the one you like best, keep it and sell the other one.

Seriously, you cannot go wrong with either subwoofer.

Wish more people took this approach.

It would be nice wouldnt it? Get em both and box em up. Stick em in two cars and if you dont have it then buy another car for the other driver! :woot:

LOL bit on the ridiculous side.

i thnk i am just going to flip a coin. best two out of three wins. i'll be ordering in the next week or so, once i finish sound deadening my cab...

  4. Just pick one, if you end up not liking that one, just sell it. Plenty of people on here will buy it from you. Kind of posted this in the wrong section though lol, its like walking into a Chevy dealership and asking them if you should buy a Ford.

yeah i here ya but the topic was already started and it pertains to both...my B :noob:

  5. bump.

i'm not going to start a new thread because i'm in basically the same position. i'm ready to throw down on a good sub/amp combo but im kinda stuck.

here's my deal. i have a 05 regular cab Tacoma so space is limited (i.e. mounting depth) and since i dont have a huge truck i don't need anything crazy but i do want to bump.

I've been looking at Fi's stuff for a while now and really like the Q's specs, especially now that i finally have some cash and the free Bp power upgrade is going on.

But i've just been looking at the Icon's as well. the specs are pretty much equal, minus what might be my deciding factor...space

If i went with Fi I would be getting the 10" Q for its There's no way I would be able to do a 12" Q the mounting depth is too large and i can't accommodate a ported box's dimensions and i'm pretty sure it'd be the same with an Icon 12.

if i went with a the icon 10 the mounting depth is .5" less than a Q 10.

wow so basically after typing all this i figured out that a 10" sub would suffice. but should i go Q or Icon? oh and i'd be powering either with a sundown saz-1000d.

  6. i agree with ku40...how does it sound? i always see this and seems like its more for show than anything else. lookin' good though! imo tinting the windshied is a waste...tint is so people can't see in, not to obstruct your view out...and putting 50 on the windshied will def. do that. if you're worried about people being able to "see" in from the front, go w/ 5 all around, and a low strip, and that should keep light out, and people from being able to see in. my subaru is 5 all around w/ a big strip, and my 4runner is 1 on the back, and the strip and front windows are 5 and on both vehicles you can't see anything past the steering wheel

well it sounds great but i expect there is def some output left to gain... thats why this weekend or next i had planned to flip the box and see how it sounds... if i like it more id probably try the plexi idea....

also the tint on the shield is for a few reasons... 1) blocks out UV rays 2) blocks out heat so all windows owould keep it out therefore the car being farrr cooler 3) people not see in as well and 4) keep sunglight out the front so the front two windows would be darker... right now the back two are a tad darker because the light frmo the windshield doesnt get through to the back... 50% also isnt to dark so it shouldnt pose much of a problem of me seeing out.

anyone here ever tint the front windshield??

i've tinted my windshield 35% on my first car. haven't gotten around to doing it on my current one. you can see out fine, day and night (ya bunch of babies). 50% would barely be noticable to the untrained eye.

  7. small update. i just picked myself up a pair of bucket seats so now i don't have to worry about my bulky bench seat and a the lack of mouting depth that was haunting me! soo stoked...

with that said since changed my mind on my sub, sorta. lol. i might actually be getting into a better series. possibly the Q and very possibly the BL. theres not a huge difference in price between them all. and the mounting deph is something i can easily accomadate now.

i'm looking for an amp for 500 or less, way less is possible. i am on somewhat of a budget, enough that i'm going to need to save up for it after i buy the sub b/c i'm also saving for a trip to alaska this summer.

  8. I am nowhere near Tampa but I'll help as much as possible. Are you going to build the enclosure yourself? I am guessing the sub is going behind the seat. How much room do you have?

i'm going to attempt building one. its going behind my bench seat. oh and its two tens

  9. what's happenin guys? i'm looking into doing an install soon for a couple 10" Fi SSD's. I have a single cab 2005 Tacoma. i'm trying to figure out what to do about a box, i'm limited with space and haven't built a box of my own yet.

i'll also be looking for a good amp to power them. and any other info for that matter.

    any suggestions?
