new theater sub build and more

Do you have a winisd file for the avalanche 18? If so can you email it to me? I just found an avalanche 18 reconed for sale and would like to see how it models before I negotiate price. Something close to what your planning sounds like what I want. Except I want it to play a little higher. Like up to 60 hz.
  2. I finally got to put power to my pair of sa10 subs. I have 2 wired to 1 ohm in 2.5 cu ft net tuned to 32 hz with 40 sq in of port. They are running off my saz-1500d. And are taking it no problem. I only have about an hour of play time on them. So we'll how much they loosen up. So far I'm impressed. I'm coming from an re sx 15 in 4.2 cu ft net tuned to 32 hz running @2 ohms off the same saz-1500d. They are a little louder than the sx15, but night and day cleaner. They hit so much tighter than the sx. Rock and metal are enjoyable again. My current electrical is seriously lacking and I've got some bad voltage drop. So I know there is more in them. Over all I'm very happy with these subs. This is in my 98 grand Cherokee temporarily, soon to go in my eldo. I took some bid with my phone that I'll upload and post.

    First impression 2 sa-10's ported on saz-1500d

I was taking payments. But he fell behind so I repo'd it. Which is great. Now I can park the eldo and start installing.

Home theater sub $800 29 cu ft

I'm working on my home theater setup. I'm putting A 110" screen with an epson 8100 projector. I want to build a big sub setup. I'm framing a wall out 2' to hide an old fireplace. I'll have 30" on either side of the screen to work with. One side will have a cabinet with my component stack in it. The other will have the sub. So I'll have aprox. 24" deep, 30" wide, and 95" tall. So about 40 cu ft gross. Originally I was going to run a single 18" or a pair of 15's, and I may still. But now I'm thinking, why not go with a 21"? But I'm not finding many 21's. GoLs are to spend less than $800 total and be great for movies and HDTV. It will be 80% for tv and movies and 20% for music. So what's available that would suit my purpose? I'm open to opinions and suggestions. Maybe multiple cheap subs or one expensive one. I figure $300 for a 1000 watt amp, $200 for the box, and $300 for subs.

    Fi q 21 or 22???

I'm building a home theater setup and was wondering if a q can be custom ordered In a 21" or 22" basket? Or if one can be reconed and basketed to that size.

    IAK needs an "IHOP"

Congrats Steve. He looks healthy. I wish I didn't live so far away. Tell Gyna I said hi and congratulations.
  9. One fi bl18 would be a great match for your amp and be loud. Whether or not it'll be louder than your current setup depends on the install.

Multiple Small subwoofer set up options

Did you double check your sub wires inside the box? Maybe it's wired incorrectly and your amp is seeing over 4 ohms reducing power output? Maybe a wire is disconnected inside the box and your running on one coil? Check the simple stuff first. And get a cheap dmm. They are only $15.

    4 sa 10s box help

Well I'm going to be running 2 sa10's off my saz1500d at 1 ohm. Jacob told me to put them in 2.5 cu ft net with 40 sq in of port. I'll check what he said displacement was. I think it was .14. I've heard that you set your ssf 5 hz below tuning. So maybe you'd be safer with a box tuning of 33hz? 3-4" ports is only 37 sq in of port area. That would be optimal for 2 subs. But really small for 4.

    1995 Cadillac Eldorado Build

I got my 9a31 deka. It arrived at 12.9v. I put it on my trickle charger for a day and now it's sitting at 13.25v. I'll drop off the sub box on Monday to have him sand the flush mount bigger.

damplifier pro to seal a door???

I've been wondering the same thing as the OP. I'm going to cover the big openings in my door with metal. But on the smaller ones I just want to use deadener.

    1995 Cadillac Eldorado Build

Well I tried mounting the subs in the box. And the flushmount cutout is too small. They fit without the gasket. But not with. So he said to bring him the box and a sub and he'll sand the opening until they fit. On a positive note, I ordered my deka 9a31. And I think I may know why my 240 amp kit didn't work. The stator is slightly thicker so the brushes have to be shimmed up. I'll try that next week. And see if that helps.

Well now I know to stay away from them.

Atomic has a manufacturer forum on dsbp. You could post up there. And see if you get a better answer in public.

    2 or 3 SA-8s with a 1200 ?

1.25 cubic feet = 300 watts 1.00 cubic feet = 400 watts 0.8 cubic feet = ~450-500 watts 0.6 cubic feet = ~500-600 watts This is a recommended power chart from Jacob st sundown for the sa8. So 2 ported would work great, and easily fit in your box dimensions. I'd shoot for 1.2 cu ft net tuned to 30 hz. And be reasonable with the gain.

    1995 Cadillac Eldorado Build

I got my car back on the road today, picked up the sub box and speaker rings. Box fits great in the trunk. I think I'll throw the sa-10's in the box and put it in the trunk to see how it looks. I'll post picks when I do.

    1995 Cadillac Eldorado Build

Best part is, It has 91,000 miles and I only paid $2k. I love ebay. WOW!!!! Well after repairs and maintenance, it'll be closer to $3k. But still not a bad deal. I'll have almost as much money in the system as I do the car.

    1995 Cadillac Eldorado Build

Rebuilt the reman alt with my 240 amp kit. It tested ok at Schucks. So it'll go in tomorrow along with my new water pump belt, smaller serpentine belt and charge my ac. Then I can get started on my stereo install.

    1995 Cadillac Eldorado Build

Good, so you'll finally have some action in your build log? I'm still messing with the alternator. I ordered a refurb alt and I'm going to put my 240 amp guts in it and see if that works, I think the armature was bad in mine. The ac is done. It just needs charged. Hopefully I'll have my car back on the road this weekend. Right now I'm driving my friends 96 crown vic ex cop car. Which is ok, but I miss my Eldo. And It looks like I'll get my sub box and speaker rings to mount my tweets on sunday.

    1995 Cadillac Eldorado Build

How do you get it in the trunk? I have a box that is 14.5x16x30 that I managed to get in the trunk once I removed the spare tire. Which is why I went 14.5x19x38 on this one. Because I think I can get it in the trunk by just removing the spare. If i remember he was working on a fleetwood. different trunk if i remember right. Definitely a different trunk. But this will fit. Worst case I'll have to take out the electric trunk latch and trim on the inside, which gives me another couple inches of room to get it through the trunk opening.

    1995 Cadillac Eldorado Build

The box will have charcoal carpet, black painted port and a white flush baffle that should make the SA-10's pop. I was going to go black but It was going to be so bland especially since the sa-10's just have a white sundown logo on the dustcap.
