  1. Well it is active capable. I didn't see the tiny switch on the side of the pxa-h100. Now I can finalize my wiring and put my door panels back on.
  2. I have an alpine 9886 and pxa-h100 crossover. I've looked through the menus and don't see a bandpass option for an active mid range woofer. I looked around the Internet and didn't see anyone running active with this setup. Did I just not find what I was looking for? Or is it not capable? If it's not then pioneer p880prs here I come. Right now I'm using the passive crossovers with my focal 165a1's woofers in the stock location low in the doors and the tweeters mounted low on the pillars. And powering them with an alpine mrp-f250.

    xcon sealed or ported

In my experience ported is noticably louder than sealed. And everywhere I've looked says the same thing.

What is the fastest you have gone

185 indicated on my 00 Kawasaki ZX-12R. About 180 actual.
  5. If my crossover isn't capable of running an active setup, then i need to replace it before i worry about going active. And how could the passive crossover be better than going active? I don't see any logic in that.
  6. I'm with m5. The 9886 has a very dissapointing crossover untill you add the pxa-h100. And even after that I still don't think it's as good as the 9887.

    RE SX 10's

Well my single 15 gets pretty loud off the 1500d. If your going to be running @1 ohm they'll be seeing the same power my one 15 is. And that's plenty. I haven't metered my setup so I can't help you there. I've bought my sub used and have been listening to it daily for over a year with no problems.

    RE SX 10's

Well I don't have any experience with the SX 10's, but i do have an sx 15 running ported in 4 cu ft at 2 ohms off an saz-1500d. It definitely gets loud, and it sounds pretty good. It would be alot easier for others to help you if you told them what car, amp, whats the rest of your system, what kind of music you listen to, and what are your goals for these 10's? Also, any reason you chose four 10's? And are you talking about the old sx or the new sxx?
  9. I currently have an RE SX15D4 in a 4 cu ft net box tuned to 31 hertz running off an SAZ-1500D. I want cleaner bass with equivalent output or more. So I was thinking about just buying an XCON 15 Dual 2 and putting it in my current box. Then while i was looking at the classifieds forum i found 2 XCON dual 1 15's for sale for just over $500. Basically $100 more than buying 1 new XCON. If i bought them i'd put them in a sealled box 6 cu ft net. So i guess i'm asking what would you do? And i'm also wondering about power. I don't want to get a bigger amp than i have now. So if you don't think the 1500 will be up to the task of 2 15" XCON's @1 ohm sealed let me know. I'm not looking for an "SQ" setup, I want something that sounds great while i'm driving around, but also be able to get loud when I want to show off. My front stage for now will consist of Focal access series 6.5" seperates running off an alpine mrp-f250 then after it gets fixed an eclipse 3242 running active 50 watts rms each channel. And after this batch of upgrades I plan on getting better mids and eventually getting a bigger amp for my mids. I saw Sir Lancelots build log with 2 sealed XCON's which is what sparked this idea.

1 RE SX ported vs 1 XCON ported VS 2 XCON's sealed

If they had smaller bags I would. But strippers carry alot crap. It looks like they're going for a week vacation or something.

1 RE SX ported vs 1 XCON ported VS 2 XCON's sealed

I don't want to lose 8 cu ft. I gives people rides all the time and need the space for bags. Right now my sub fires up and my port faces back. If I go sealed should I face the subs back?

    Coax vs Componet

You will get a much better answer if you tell us what they are going in, where they will go in said vehicle, what's the rest of your system consist of, will these be running off an amp or deck power, what kind of music you listen to, and what your goals are for sound(good sound, just loud etc).

    Hondakilla98's build log

I started on cleaning up my wires to the eq and amp. And installing a 4 channel to run the focals up front. When i got my Eclipse 3242 installed I found out it didn't work. So now I'll have to run my backup. An Alpine MRP-F250. It should work for now untill I can get the 3242 fixed. Now I just need to figure out my wiring harness to the door speakers. I"ll post some pics later.

    Hondakilla98's build log

Well i bought the jeep with the system in it from a friend. I swapped out the Alpine IDA-x100 for the CDA-9886, added the eq, changed out the alpine MRP-F450 for a Kicker ZX750.1, then traded that for the KX1200.1, and have now swapped that out for an SAZ-1500D that I bought from Lunchbox(Steve Mead on the forum). The sub was an Alpine Type S 12 in a sealed box, then a JL 12W3V2 sealed, then a Rockford P3 12" sealed, and then the RE SX15D4 that i just put in a new box. It really hasn't been that expensive untill recently. Since i did a lot of trading and always came out ahead. I think all together when i'm done with this batch of upgrades I'll be less than $1000 total into the system.

How did you guys find SSA???

I was looking for info on a sub and found this site. I'd never heard of RE before i got my current sub in a trade. Or Sundown, or SSA, or a number of other brands. I'm glad i found the site, there is a lot of good info on here.

Thanks. It took me a while to get motivated to start it. I've been thinking about it for months. Now that i got started I need to keep motivated and finish the rest of my install. I'm going to square up all the edges with a belt sander and then i'll borrow a router and round all the square edges on the box and in the port. We'll see about the flush mount. Then paint the box.

    Hondakilla98's build log

My list of up coming projects for the jeep are, run new power wire (1/0), do big three, add second battery, change door speakers, install 4 channel amp for mids, put in sound deadening, find a good deal on an SSA XCON, take out dvd player/monitor and sell it. I've already purchased 100 sq ft of rattle trap, all 1/0 wiring, terminals, fuse holders, etc.., focal 165 A1 components (2 sets, looks like i'll have a set to sell), Eclipse 3242 4 channel amp, Sundown SAZ-1500D and, Kinetic power cells HC1400(starting battery), HC800(rear battery), Curently intalled I have an Alpine CDA-9886 HU, PXA-H100 crossover, Kicker KX1200.1, RE SX15D4 in 4 cu ft slot ported box tuned to 31 hz, Infinity Refererence coaxial 6.5's in all four doors.

15 inch xcon enclosure with plexi

What's the price on a box like that? It's gonna be hot when it's done. Are there going to be lights inside?
  25. I have an re sx15 in a box that I've recently discovered is all wrong. I went to re's website and used their box designer. And setup a slot ported 4.2 cu ft box tuned to 34 hertz. I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with this sub and what specs you built your box to. I'll be running it at 2 ohms off an saz 1500d. I'm looking for mostly sq with the rare spl moment.
