  1. i swear i don't see the box specs on the 187's 15" s....................thinking i can easily give up 46"W X 13.5"H X 24" D (outside dimension)..........thinking aero ports, subs up , port back, 76' cougar. could do a little more with the Width measurement but other two are pretty firm. any specs or input about enclosure, or whatever would be great.

Oh, perhaps a cost effective suggestion on amp also, seen the frree box give away by audible customs, kinda like just in time. this is for lil brothers cougar, if i can get price right.

  2. "Your box is 7.45 cubes NET as long as you keep the subs inverted.

If you install subs normally, it will be around 7 cubes NET.

The port is 5" tall but the back where the port starts in the box, it is 5.5". I went ahead and assumed the box would pick this up as part of the port.

Also, since it's slotted, we'll take another 2.5" of acoustical length inside the box for additional port length which should make your box tuned to- 24.5hz, that's crazy low.

If you drop subs in normally, it would be tuned to approximately - 25.3hz.

Is this for home theater, lol? "

this is what shizzzon told me about my box, and then

BigCProductions99 and johnecon2001 suggested 2 of these subs as a good match, soooo what do you think, are we on to something here..... i gota find some prices i'm thinking.

I think since you posted a follow up you thought the above was a question, but I am not sure what you are asking...

yeah my bad, i was wanting to point out the box i had, in the hopes of receiving an opinion about how it would match up with the mach 5 ixl-15's. if they will do real good in this enclosure.

thanks for pointing that out to me ///m5!

  3. It Really Probably Won't Matter, Either Driver Will Do The Job You Want It To Do. I Think On The Woofer Per Dollar Scale, The IXL Fits A Little Better.

In Regards To My Fourth Statement: and i want to be able to be heard <-- That's What I Was Referring To.

Yeah, It's Nice To Have That Truck Back, Can't Wait To Get It Finished, Thanks.

thanks for your input, the mach 5 is still top of list ,due to the dollar, ( can't justify $180 for better looks) guess i will be planning accordingly.

  4. "Can't Go Wrong With Either Company, But I Still Say Mach 5 IXL 15. With Either Company, You Get Great Engineering And Build Quality, Great Low End Extension On Those Woofers, And Great C/S"....................agree 100%

"And If Aesthetics Are Really That Important, Buy A Funky Pup. /endjoke.".................can see where you might not see the appeal, yet the looks tend to weigh in for my preferences.

"Short And Sweet: Xmax Doesn't Mean Everything".......................agree, just as short, not sure i mentioned it did, but okay.

"Also, You Shouldn't Feel The Need For You To Be Heard, It Should Be For Your Enjoyment, Not Others."...............this is probably where you truly lost me, if this was meant in humour, lol, if not i probably will not need more advice from your stand point alone, sorry.

"That May Be Hypocritical Coming From Me, My Motto: My Prescription Is Bass, And Others Hearing It Is A Side Effect. " ................this still gives me faith in you, i am into loud daily drivers, demostrating much respect for others, but there is a time and place for everything, and i try to be right in that crowd, streetbeaters and groundpounders ftw!

i havn't totally commited one way or the other, still leaning on the SoundSplinter side......my curiosity still lies within output, wondering which will get louder for me, granted both are nice just trying to figure out if $180 bucks more is going to be proven "woth it" to me. haven't heard from mrogowski yet, was sorta hopping he would chime in on the subject.

by the way your pop's truck and the story behind it, is pretty cool , i got a 85 regeal out there somewhere with a 455 rocket in it, would love to get it back.

  5. so the Mach 5 IXL 15.2 (2 @ $220 = $440) is quite a bit cheaper than the SoundSplinter RL-P 15" D2 (2 @ $310 = $620) $180 bucks different. but what does that mean product wise? i have been around car audio for a while but to just read the specs and form a opinion is not quite where i am at yet. the SoundSplinter has a little more Xmax than the Mach 5, and are about the same sensitivity. i truly do like the bass haveing the ability to get low......and i want to be able to be heard ..........i guess i dont have to use this box but just trying to feel my way through this thought process. is the differences $180 bucks different? i like the looks of the SoundSplinter and the xtra Xmax seems to be a good thing, i like the price of the Mach 5 though, sad but true money is part of the decision makeing process right now.

  6. I have heard of SSA before. Not long ago, however, I was at car show / sound-off in Indy called Slamology. At the sound-off I was starting to prepare myself for disapointment, it was early and not many was there yet. I seen a few cars almost all of which at that point only had what i call flea market installs in them. Two subs , amp bolted on the side of a grey carpeted prefab box. These guys where not familiar with anything around them, they just entered the show to see what it was about. This is'nt a bad thing, I just was looking for more. I look for naked mdf, duct tape, expanding foam, silvery glimmer from sound deadning material....you know the good stuff. Then I seen a kid who had a 18" xcon in his jimmy. He had a bare slot ported box(huge) in the rear and a Sundown saz-1500d wired up to it. He had this anxoiusly, nervous look that i could relate to from times past. Waiting to be up next! No more than i could get ready to ask him what he had going on in there, he and his three other buddies jumped out of the truck, started handing out SSA flyers to me and any one else around(wether they wanted them or not!). He had that sub wanging at full tilt, grinning ear to ear! I asked a few questions, kinda feeling him out.......size,tunning of box, so on. Kid knew it all! I was impressed! We talked for a while and he mentioned SSA several times as well as the forum. It was obvious he had been attending school on this very forum. Like i said, i was impressed with his knowledge and excitement over this product and the people behind it. I came home that evening, sunburnt to a crisp, and logged onto the sight. I wanted to see what this kid done got a hold of. So from that point I have been browsing around, very impressed.

By the way that kid was mdizzle5472, thanks bud, great place to hang out at........hurry up and get that electrical going!
